Choosing an exhaust system isn't just about a choice in sound, it's also about a choice in looks. Converting the stock single-side-exit over to a dual exit is one of the most popular upgrades for the 2004 to 2008 F150s. Even within dual-exit exhaust systems there's a choice between dual side exit and dual rear exit designs to make everything even more complicated and potentially confusing. By providing alternate tubing with each of their kits, Flowmaster gives you the unique option of choosing between a dual side exit style behind the two rear tires or a rear exit directly under your truck's bumper. This way you have the ability of experimenting between the two styles in order to figure out the look that best fits your needs.
The following Flowmaster kits allow you to choose your custom rear exit configuration:
It all comes down to form, function and sound when choosing a performance exhaust system. When thinking about the functionality of an aftermarket exhaust on a 2004-2008 4.6L or 5.4L F150, it really comes down what you use your truck for most. If you regularly tow or haul a trailer filled with your expensive toys, you'll most likely want to steer clear from straight rear-exiting pipes as they could potentially damage that expensive boat, while rear side exiting designs will push those fumes and heat out and away from the rear. Here at Stage 3 Motorsports, we've tried out pretty much every design and manufacturer on the market on our own trucks and when it comes to form and sound, that part is strictly a matter of taste and what you're trying to achieve with your custom F150 build. Here's a sample of a few of the exhaust systems we're currently rolling with on our own F150s.
