An Ode to the 2008 Shelby F150 Super Snake

Riding high off their success with the SVT-Licensed GT500s and their very own GT350s, our dear friends over at Shelby American decided to lend their insane brand of genius to America's most popular truck. Out came the F150 Super Snake in 2008. Shelby's truck came standard with an impressive Aero Body Kit, aggressive heat extraction and ram air hood, as well as stylish interior, revised suspension and massive 6-piston brakes. The whole package was topped off with a 5.4L Triton V8 that was blessed with a high-performance Whipple 2.3L Twin-Screw Supercharger that brought power levels up to 475 horsepower and some 500lb-ft of torque. As it turns out, the experiment didn't last long, and the Super Snake is now a coveted collectors item.

However, you can actually get even more power than Shelby's Super Snake by grabbing a Whipple Supercharger for your own 5.4L V8 F150. The newest generations of Whipple's superchargers throw down an impressive 525 horsepower and 580lb-ft of torque at the crankshaft thanks to some revised designs and new PCM programming that came out in recent years. Whipple's 2.3L Twin-Screw Superchargers are some of the best upgrades for trucks that need a ton of power all in one place, and these blowers respond extraordinarily well to further upgrades like smaller pulleys and long tube headers to make your tough truck even more monstrous.

Edelbrock's E-Force Supercharger Kit

While the 2004-2008 Ford F150's are some of the toughest-looking trucks out there, they do lack the power of some of the newer models offered by Ford. That's all a thing of the past, however, once you upgrade your 5.4L engine with an Edelbrock supercharger. The E-Force system utilizes Eaton's new Gen VI TVS Supercharger rotors for maximum air flow, quiet operation and reliability while keeping engine temperatures considerably lower. With its bolt-on design, Edelbrock's E-Force Supercharger Systems are exclusively designed for the 5.4L F150 and give them an impressive increase of 478 flywheel horsepower and 504 ft./lbs. of torque. Completely street-legal and emissions-approved, the Edelbrock Supercharger gives your truck impressive performance along with show-quality looks in your engine bay. While it might sound like an expensive upgrade, you're basically paying for around 100 more horsepower, taking your F150 to the next level.
