A Ford Pickup just isn't a Ford Pickup without an aggressive and throaty V8 under its hood, and someone gracious decided that the 2011 to 2014 Ford F150s were deserving of two very awesome V8 engines in the form of the 5.0L 4V Coyote and the 6.2L 2V V8. Both of these powerful motors come packed with a whole bunch more power and torque over the outgoing 4.6L and 5.4L V8s, giving you all the low-down grunt you need to get the job done. Both engines respond extremely well to a variety of bolt-on performance parts like cold air intakes and cat-back exhaust kits, but really come into their own with tuning, especially custom tuning from 5-Star Tuning. 5-Star's custom tuning for the 5.0L V8 and big 6.2L V8 motors really brings these trucks to life and can compensate for powerful performance parts like F150 5.0L long tube headers and F150 6.2L long tube headers. Best of all, using 5-Star's custom tuning from Stage 3 also qualifies you for our Lifetime Tunes Program where you can receive free tunes for the life of your truck on tunable performance parts purchased from Stage 3! If you're looking for massive power gains, then head straight for our F150 5.0L Supercharger Systems of our F150 6.2L Supercharger Systems.
What should my first modification be?
Intakes, intakes, intakes. The stock air box and intake is very inefficient on both the 5.0L and 6.2L engines and you can get excellent amounts of power off a quick and hassle-free cold air intake system. Our top 5.0L F150 cold air intake comes from our neighbors over at Airaid Filters. Their intake kit adds a good 17 horsepower on to your trucks output without tuning or other upgrades. Out 6.2L V8 intake kits are equally impressive and can add up to 15 horsepower. On top of an intake, BBK has an excellent throttle body for the 5.0L trucks and they're rumored to be working on an equally powerful throttle body or the 6.2L.
How do I get a better sound from my truck?
The easiest way is with a cat-back exhaust kit. We here at Stage 3 have both 5.0L F150 cat-backs and 6.2L F150 cat-backs that add a huge sound to your truck's exhaust note. The Roush cat-back kit dominates the 6.2L V8s trucks, while the most popular kits for the 5.0L trucks comes from MBRP. If you want even more sound AND some excellent power gains, then see our 6.2L F150 headers or our 5.0L headers sections.
How to I get bigger wheels and tires on my truck?
With a lift kit or leveling kit, of course. Our 2011 to 2013 F150 lift kits come in all shapes and sizes and allow you to tailor your truck for a specific application. For your daily driver that needs a more aggressive look, we recommend Daystar's excellent 2" front leveling kit that allows you to throw on 33" tires while giving your truck a nice, even stance. If you're turning your F150 into a pure off-roading machine, then a more aggressive 6" lift from ProComp or Zone Off-Road may be your better option.
