2008 4runner
Agree with the other reviewers, including about rusty bolts. I replaced my original shocks on my 2008 4runner with 176k miles. I don't think the old ones were doing anything. Much proved ride now, and less body roll (I installed new sway bar links which may have helped a little w this as well). I used my stock springs to save money. The 5100s at 1.75 setting in the front, combined w 1" spacers from cornfed in the rear, gave me a level stance and overall slight lift (guessing 1.5" ish overall, but I didn't measure). I used a cheap strut compressor from harbor freight to compress the front springs, and bought some moog strut caps to replace my rusty crusty ones. Im happy -- got a little lift and improved ride for a pretty low overall price.

Didn't realize how bad my struts/shocks were until these were installed. Less body roll, smooth ride, absorbs every on/off road condition I've encountered. Highly recommend. Stage3 had the best price and shipping was expeditious. Pleasure doing business with.

Excellent fit. Easy installation once I got the rusty bolts off. Looks so much better with the front raised and leveled. Ride is also improved.

Unbeatable value! Installed these with 3" front, 2" rear springs and it's perfect. Feels great, very happy with the improvement over stock. Comes with sweet Bilstein stickers too!

Great upgrade for my 4th gen 4Runner. Used in conjunction with OME885 front and toytec rear springs. Gave me about 3” lift.

Amazing quality shocks, way better than stock and the adjustability is super easy. Install took 7 hours but could definitely be done faster if you know what you are doing. Fast shipping great company!

Customer Question I have a 2004 4wd 4runner will I be able to stretch my stock spring to the 2.5 for a little bit of lift?

Asked by: Seth - 4/1/2021
Customer Answer The front strut assemblies come with a preload collar that allows you to add up to 2.5" of front lift using your factory spring. The rear shocks can handle up to 2.5" of lift from aftermarket springs or spring spacers, but they do not add ride height on their own and neither will "stretch" your springs to a new ride height.

Customer Question Will these 5100 shocks work with the red toytec boss lifted springs?

Asked by: Kyle - 1/31/2021
Customer Answer That depends entirely on what specific ToyTec part number you're using, as they've come out with several different spring series over the years. Your best bet would be to call us directly at 623-434-5277 or email us at [email protected] so we can get more specific about your springs.

Customer Question Can this package be used on 2wd 2007 4runner SR5?

Asked by: Ash - 1/9/2021
Customer Answer The shocks in this kit will bolt on to a 2007 RWD 4Runner. However, the rear shocks will require at least a 1.25" rear lift on an RWD 4Runner to be in an optimal travel range.

Customer Question What is the difference between these front struts and the 6112s?

Asked by: Hunt - 12/9/2020
Customer Answer The 6112s have a larger diameter and come with their own springs which makes them perform better off-road than the Bilstein 5100s.

Customer Question Will these also fit the 2wd 4runner?

Asked by: Justin G - 7/10/2020
Customer Answer According to Bilstein, the shocks and struts will fit an RWD 4Runner, though you may get slightly more front ride height than what they're rated for on the 4WD trucks.

Customer Question I have a 2003 Limited 4 runner with Xreas which I want to disable can I use either the 4600s or 5100s ? What are the advantage one over the other

Asked by: Wade - 5/5/2020
Customer Answer As far as I'm aware, as long as you disable and completely remove the X-REAS system, you can install any set of stock replacement shocks and struts. The 4600s do not add any lift up front and the rear shocks are only rated for the factory ride height, but they tend to ride softer on the street than the 5100s. The 5100s are capable of adding ride height up front and the rears can handle up to 2" of extra rear height, though they can be a little stiffer on the road. In general, we usually recommend the 5100s since the ride height considerations tend to be more important for most folks.

Customer Question I'm ready to purchase the Bilstein 5100 shock kit for my 2003 4runner. i will be removing the x-reas system. At the top of the description it says kit is ready for installation but at the bottom it says please be aware of installation requirements of this kit and plan accordingly. Does this kit require additional parts for installation?

Asked by: Boonzilla - 5/2/2020
Customer Answer This kit does not require additional hardware. However, the front strut assemblies do require you to transfer over your stock lower spring perch, spring isolators, and upper mount and that is something to be aware of, especially if your factory hardware isn't in the greatest shape.

Customer Question Is this set for a 4 runner or a tacoma? The title says 4runner, but fitment says tacoma. What are the bilstein part numbers? Thank you!

Asked by: Paul - 3/14/2020
Customer Answer This set of shocks is for a 2003-2009 4Runner, though there is some crossover with some Tacoma submodels.
