Although I had some trouble with UPS finding my house, these Bilstein adjustable shocks showed up in a reasonable amount of time in perfect, brand new condition. After becoming familiar with the procedure via YouTube, I jumped on it in my driveway using jacks, jack stands and basic hand tools (plus a strut compressor I rented from AutoZone). I started with the rear shocks, which were very simple and were installed in about 5 minutes each. I then tackled the front struts. The original struts came out in about 10 minutes each, and went back in in about 45 minutes. I set the new shocks to the tallest setting (~2.25 over stock) and traded out the parts required from the original struts. This allowed me to fit Cooper STT Pro 295/60r20 tires on stock FX4 wheels with no rubbing whatsoever. The struts went back in with no issues...once I completely disconnected the upper control arm. The ride is stiffer than stock, but perfect for me (I also went from stock tires to a load range E tire, further stiffening the ride). Around corners, the original struts/shocks made the truck feel like a listing boat. Now the suspension is tight and positive more like a car. I'm very happy with this product and the resulting suspension feel and look of the truck now. A word of advice, however, is to also purchase a camber bolt kit to accompany this product if you're going to max out the height. Although it can be aligned without the camber bolt kit, it's easier (and more repeatable) with the camber bolt kit.

These new Bilstein shocks made an incredible difference in the stability of the ride compared to stock ones with 25,000 on them. The truck doesn't lunge when going into a corner, and when you hit a chuck hole, there isn't a big thud. I should have done this when I first bought the truck. I left the front height stock, because I usually travel in the #1 lane on the freeway at a good speed, didn't want to change headlight setting, and didn't up size in tires. This is second truck Bilstein has been on of mine.Installation and allignment done by Ford dealer, 200.00. I would highly recommend thsee shocks.

First Stage 3 Rocks, great price, great customer service and fast shipping. The Bilstein 5100's not only are an upgrade on the overall ride of the truck, they gave me the added height needed for my 34.5 inch Nitto Trail's but also leveled out the truck with just a slight rake. Perfect plug and play! Backs 1/2 hour tops, front a little more involved with the springs, adjusted them to top 2.25. If your looking to improve your ride, level out your truck, fit a bigger tire without put an actual lift on your truck, look no further!

Great shocks and an excellent upgrade from stock. They are, as has been said several times, more stiff, but they make up for it in recovery and major reduction in body roll. I went the extra step and put a Hellwig rear sway bar and set these shocks at their third setting (1.5 inches.) Truck looks level, handles tight and rides solid. Well worth the money.

This is the best leveling kit for the money. It took about 2 hours a side and a few beers but install was not that hard to do with simple tools. My spring compressors were not long enough so I rented them free from the local parts store. I had an alignment done after a few days to let the springs settle and it rides great. They ride comfortable and my truck has minimal body roll when taking off ramps. I bought these because I put a Western Mid-Weight plow on my truck. These really make the truck ride comfortable especially with the 500lb plow on the front. We just had our first snow storm and the extra height in the front with the great ride made plowing with this set up a breeze.

Product shipped fast and was an easy install if you have a hydraulic press. I don't recommend the hand held spring compressors on this truck. I've put several hundred miles on these shocks and they're great. I got the perfect amount of lift in the front and the ride/handling quality is nothing less than what I would expect from Bilstein. Definitely a great product at a great price.

So I got these as a gift from my girlfriend for Christmas I knew the quality would be great. As all bilstein products I own. soon as they were delivered I installed them at work. Install was easy and straight forward. The ride is still stock feel but a bit firm but no biggie no complaints if I lower it will obviously soften up a bit but I love the ride height at full clock it levels it out perfect.

These shocks are much better than the Stock shocks that came on F150. Installed the back myself in about an hour. Had the front ones put on at a tire shop for about $250.00. I had the shop put the shocks on the .75 setting or second setting. The second setting gave me about an Inch of rake from front to back and a little more clearance for 275/70/r18 tires which are taller than stock. Ride is a little more stiff, but you don't bottom out when driving down dirt roads with deep ruts. Great service from Stage3, just about buying all my truck stuff from this site now. Love the reviews and Q&A section.

2012 Ford F150 FX4 Ecoboost- I replaced my 80,000 mile tired shocks with the Bilstein 5100 Adjustable kit. I love it, rides like stock. I went with the 1.5 of lift my truck sits slightly raked to the front. Installation time was about 15 minutes per side to get the old ones out and about 30 minutes per side to get the new ones in (excluding time to compress spring). I do recommend using a wall mounted spring compressor it would make the whole job easier. The one I rented from Autozone struggled to get the job done. All in all i would highly recommend this kit for anyone looking for a quality shock package.

Ride is much better I did the 1.5 in raise on the front its not dead level there is a .75 in rake on the front but I was not going for dead level. These strut/shocks are much better than the stock ones the stock ones are really soft. if your looking to upgrade how your vehicle rides and want to level it out these are it. Stage3 had it all at my door 2 days after I ordered it which was excellent so the next day it got installed. Rides much better than stock. No body roll and not bouncing around so much. Had the front set at 2.25 and with the rear blocks it still has some front rake but that's what I was going for. Rear is about 1 inch higher than the front. Great price on a great kit.

Hands down the best upgrade I've done to my truck so far. In fact, If I could only make one upgrade, it would be these. I originally went with the 2 Autospring spacers and ended up taking those off and putting these on about 6 months later... I found that the spacers allowed my control arm to come into contact with the spring and it would make a loud thud every time I hit a bump or did any sort of off roading... Not only is that terribly annoying but it was causing some pretty substantial premature wear. Not good. Save yourself the frustration, do it right, and just go with the Bilsteins right off the bat. They're a bit more of an investment, but they offer a massive improvement in performance AND looks, rather than just looks like the spacers. With the new struts, everything is aligned well and rides smooth as butter. I also noticed a major reduction in body roll after installing the Bilstiens. Buy these - you won't regret it!

I purchased the set of Bilstein shocks for my 2010 Ford F150 Super Crew. I had 110,000 miles on the original shocks. I am very happy and satisfied with all aspects of purchasing these through Stage 3. The order process went smooth and the shocks arrived in just a few days. I installed the rear shocks myself which were easy and didn't have to even jack up the truck. I had the front shocks installed at my Ford dealer since they are part of a strut assembly and needed alignment afterwards anyways. I DID increase the front truck height by about 2 inches moving the ring up ONE NOTCH on the shocks. This brought up the front end and basically leveled the truck out. I also went up one size on my tires from a 275 to a 285. It is a good upgrade to the suspension.

I installed the rear shocks on my F150 in about 30 minutes and had a garage install the front struts since I didn't have a spring compressor. The ride is definitely firmer than stock, but in a good way. Much more controlled on the rough PA roads and almost completely took away body roll in turns. These are a way better option than spacer blocks to level out your truck.

Left ft stock shock was leaking on my truck, decided to go this route vs stock. Noticeably stiffer ride, which is fine, better handling, also at the same time installed new tires which were LT rather than P tires. overall happy, installed at the first increment of lift in the front, appears to have leveled the truck off well, not my goal with this kit, but a nice option. Seems to have taken some of the secondary chassis rebound out of the ride. Easy to install as well. I checked the alignment, did not need adjustments.

I had local Goodyear shop do the front struts and alignment, cost $365 for all. Improvement in the ride very noticeable. Stock shock had 100k miles and handling became floaty. For the money I couldn't be happier with this set up. The install was pretty straight forward; I accomplished it in my garage in one evening. Other reviews state a stiff ride; I would more accurately call it a firm/ planted feel. Stiff has a hay-wagon connotation to it... My truck gained EXACTLY 2 of lift in the front, definitely not the 2.1 or 2.25 as some have said; not complaining, just sayin'. Quality seems good and time will tell how they hold up to the desert heat and off road abuse.

I installed these on a 2012 f150 3.5 EB. The whole process took about 3 1/2 hrs. The rear shocks took 20 minutes, to bolts top and bottom mount, out and in real easy, no wheel removal or lifting required. The front end how ever requires a lot of work, and proper tools. If you watch the installation video they have posted on stage 3 you will see what you have to do, I recommend it. It is hard to get the entire assembly out and in without getting the lower control arm loose. Honestly if you watch the video and are not confident in your ability or have a mechanics tool set and impact wrenches then have them installed. I also purchased a heavy duty set of spring compressors for this job. I set my fronts one up from stock to .75-3/4 and it actually sits that much higher even after three weeks driving in pa mountains. The ride is great, tight in turns and fairly smooth on the highway, nice balance of firmness. I would highly recommend these to anyone looking for a greatly improved ride and handling over stock. As always stage 3 had the best price and shipped to me in three days. Wonderful product, love stage 3.

Rear end floats a lot more and corners with bumps are handled much better. I had one hiccup, both shocks had their center bolt come loose and I heard it bouncing around. Used the impact and tightened it down again. They call for 34 lbs for torque for the nut. My guess is I didn't go that tight and when the truck is put on its own weight, it lossened. So far so good now. Shocks feel like they are made of solid material and makes my truck look good?

Once I figured out what I was doing installation went pretty good. The coil springs are super stiff, you might want to rent/buy two sets of coil spring compressors. I was worried about one breaking and killing my buddy or myself. I had 2 leveling blocks before so I went with the 2.25 height. It lifted the truck exactly as it claims. The truck handles much better everywhere with the bilstiens! The front suspension geometry is better and it doesn't allow it to bottom up like it would before. The tires seem to track the ground really well and my ABS doesn't kick in on a couple turns it used too. The only complaint is that the rebound is too strong, which makes speed bumps a little harsh on the down stroke.

These are my second set of Bilstein 5100's on a F-150. I had my front shocks set at max height and ride great and the back shocks are perfect. My only complaint with the front shocks are when the truck goes off a 2-3 drop they tend to land harsh and nowhere near as soft as the factory. But I do think they are softening up a bit the more I drive. The truck looks perfectly level and might install taller blocks in the future. So far it was a good upgrade. Stage 3 had these to me in 2 days with free shipping. Great service!

Priced right, Shipped fast! Local Dealer refused to install, had a local shop install. They required some fabrication to go over the coil spring seats but went on. Mechanic forgot to tighten the top nuts on the struts, so my test ride didn't go well. Went back to the shop and after mechanic snugged the nuts down it rides great. Very Pleased, should have had them installed two years ago! No more thud from bottoming out the stock struts. Highly Recommend!

Bought the full set at the great price from Stage 3. Install was pretty straightforward using hand tools and the screw type coil spring compressors. Set the ride height one notch down from the top and it is exactly what I wanted. Truck sits more level with about a half inch of front rake, perfect. Ride quality is good and I'm pleased with them overall.

I just installed these on my truck after 200,000 miles of stock suspension and that forward lean that plagued my truck since I've owned it. Not only do these shocks fix that lean, but now my truck rides like a Cadillac (that has 200,000 miles and is 4 wheel drive) and I am very impressed. I did the rear ones myself and it look less than an hour total for both sides.

Straightforward install as per video. You will need an impact wrench - I would not try this without. Front took me 3 hours total, rear took me 5 minutes a side (no need to jack up rear end or remove wheel, plenty of room). I raised the front of my truck 1.5' using the third position for the spring seat. I'm not sure I would have been able to install with the full lift due to the spring compressors I had - I could barely compress the springs enough to swap onto the new struts at the third position. Truck looks nearly leveled and rides better than new. I installed slightly larger tires - 275 70R18 and am very happy with the look and the ride, both off-road and on the streets / highway.

Hired a friend that works at 4 wheel parts to install and had it on withing 4 hours (including the time it took to go to the shop and compress the coils to swap the struts). Like everyone says, rears take no time at all. Overall the ride quality is much better. I've got mine set at the 1.5 setting and to the naked eye it looks dead level(never measured, dont care enough). Overall much better than stock, doesnt ride like a dumptruck like some people say. Handles speedbumps like a champ and doesnt have as much body roll as the original. Truck had 70k miles on it when installed.

I whent with the second from top groove for the clip setting, and it came out about level with the naked eye. My guess is with the miles on truck, the rear springs have settled a bit. Customer Question My 2011 F150 4x4 is currently sitting stock. I am wanting to level the front end with the rear and take the rake away. Would the Bilstein 5100 accomplish this or would I still need strut spacers?

Asked by: Bruce - 3/13/2026
Customer Answer The 5100 front struts included in this kit will add 2.25" of front ride height to the front of your 2011 F150 at the top notch without the need for spacers.

Asked by: Jeff Gravenstreter - 10/3/2025
Customer Answer Yes, these will work on your 2012 4wd F150. Bilstein does not recommend using spacers in combination with their leveling struts, and it would void their warranty.

Customer Question I have a 2011 F150 ecoboost with stock 18" rims. With the stock rear block in place, would the 1.5" position leave just a slight forward rake? I want near level, but no squat with light towing (less than 3,000lbs.)

Asked by: Jeremy - 8/21/2022
Customer Answer In general, the 2011 F150s need about 2.5" of leveling to be at a "dead-level" stance, so setting the Bilstein 5100 fronts at their 1.5" ride height setting would leave you a decent amount of rake.

Asked by: James - 5/7/2022
Customer Answer You can't due to the fact that the front struts do not have a .50" ride height setting. They only have a .75" setting, which will push you higher than 3" with a 2.5" leveling spacer. You could feasibly do a 2" leveling spacer with the .75" ride height setting to net you 2.75" with a UCA.

Customer Answer There's no reason why a SuperCrew cab couldn't run the struts at their highest settings. That being said, the highest ride height setting does cause a bit of a stiff ride, regardless of cab option.

Customer Question will these fit a 2013 2wd f150?

Asked by: Jacob - 12/13/2021
Customer Answer They'll physically fit on your truck. However, the front struts will give you slightly more ride height than what they're rated for on the 4WD trucks and we recommend using a 1.5" rear block in conjunction with the rear shocks to put them in a more optimal travel range.

Customer Question I already have 2" leveling puck spacers on stock shock tubes. Can I just add these in or do I need to take out the leveling spacers?

Asked by: WT - 10/29/2021
Customer Answer You could install the Bilstein 5100 front struts in conjunction with the leveling spacers. However, we don't recommend going beyond 3" of total front leveling, and your best bet would be to set the 5100 front strut assemblies to a 0" factory ride height if you're going to reuse your current leveling spacers.

Customer Question Wondering if these shocks/struts would be good for my truck? I have a 2012 F150 Super Crew FX4, 5.5' bed, with maxtow package. Currently has, I believe, a 2" leveling kit on the front. It was on the truck when I purchased it. Thanks

Asked by: Jeremy - 7/29/2021
Customer Answer This kit will be a good upgrade for your truck, especially if your stock shocks and struts have seen better days. You could feasibly keep your leveling kit, though we recommend setting the front 5100s to a 0" stock ride height if you're going to reuse the 2" leveling spacer.

Customer Question 2012 2WD I will install a 1.25 rear block. Will the 4x4 front struts fit. What is the highest level raised recommended. Herd just by adding 4x4 front struts will raise 3/4 to 2 inches.

Asked by: sergio - 4/19/2021
Customer Answer The 4WD system will bolt up to your truck, and adding a 1.25" 4WD take-off rear block will keep the shocks in an optimal travel range. We can't strictly guarantee a specific front ride height, since we haven't tried it ourselves, but you will get slightly more than what the kit is rated for on the 4WD trucks.

Customer Question Will this fit my 2013 Ford F-150 FX2? If not can you please send me the product number for the correct ones. Thank you

Asked by: Zachary King - 4/2/2021
Customer Answer This kit will physically bolt up to a 2013 RWD truck, though you will get slightly more ride height out of the 4WD strut assemblies than with the RWD-specific 5100 struts. We also recommend running a 1.5" rear block to keep the 4WD rear shocks in a more optimal travel range. If you want to avoid the hassles, the RWD-specific kit is here.

Customer Question My truck is 2wd and I added front spacers and rear blocks to raise to 4wd height. Can I use the 4wd kit? Or what is the difference in the 2

Asked by: Jdobson - 2/11/2021
Customer Answer You could use this kit. However, if you're already running leveling spacers, we do not recommend taking the truck above 3" of total front leveling, and you'll probably want to start the front struts at a 0" factory ride height. As long as you're using a 1.50" rear block or a 4WD take-off block, you can use the rear shocks in this kit without issues.

Customer Question Any problems running the fronts on the top/highest setting? - V8 SCREW Lariat trim would suggest the 2.25" setting would probably not lift it that high? Any ride quality concerns using the stiffest preload setting? better to run it on 1.5" instead?

Asked by: MaDMaXX - 1/20/2021
Customer Answer The only issue with the 2.25" setting is that the preload on the spring does make on-road ride quality a bit stiff. If you want to maximize ride quality, then you should probably use a lower ride height setting.

Customer Answer It does not. The front struts are just the bare assemblies and adjustment clip. You will need to transfer over your stock springs, upper mounts, and spring perch.

Customer Question intall?

Asked by: judd - 8/25/2020
Customer Answer Installation is pretty straightforward, though you do need a spring compressor (we recommend a wall mount or floor mount) to transfer over the stock spring, upper mount, and isolators. Check out our install video here, though note that this is on a later truck with a bar-pin lower mount, while the 2009-2013 F150s use a single-bolt clevis mount.

Customer Question I see that the standard 5100s will only accommodate 1" of lift in the rear, so I'm assuming the ones in this kit will not work with a 1.5" rear add a leaf kit? Also, if I ran this with the eibach 2" coil springs on the lowest perch, along with a 1.5" add a leaf and removed the stock 1.5" block, would that sit me about level?

Asked by: Harper - 8/19/2020
Customer Answer You are correct. The rear shocks would not be able to support 1.5" of rear lift. If you went with 2" or front lift in conjunction with a rear block delete and 1.5" Add-a-leaf (keep in mind that you may need different U-bolts), you would likely still have a slight rake. In general, to get dead-level, the 2009-2013 F150s typically need around 2.5" of front lift. Also, add-a-leafs tend to ride a smidge high until they're fully broken in, so you may have a good amount of rake at first.

Customer Question I had this kit installed on my wife's F150 just using the factory coils and it rides pretty rough on the 2.25 setting. Is there some better coils that I could put these struts on that would ride better and be able to keep it at the leveled height? Or would it be better just to swap to the Fox coilovers?

Asked by: 6.0Tyler - 6/15/2020
Customer Answer At 2.25" of height, there's a lot of preload on the stock spring. You can alleviate that somewhat with Eibach's Pro-Lift Spring, which provides 2" of ride height on its own, letting you use the Bilsteins at their lowest ride height setting. While the Eibach springs have a bit higher of a spring rate, there's less preload on them, which can help clean up your ride after break-in. Granted, the Eibachs won't let you hit 2.25" of height. You'll have to choose between 2" (lowest Bilstein perch setting) or 2.7" of height (second Bilstein perch setting), since anything higher will cause you trouble.

Customer Question Five years ago I installed this kit and have been very happy. Due to age, wear, and corrosion it's time to replace the struts and I want to go with the same setup. Is there any recommendation from Stage3 or Bilstein on doing this and reusing the stock springs/plates again or is full replacement of the spring perch and hardware necessary? Thanks for the help.

Asked by: KodiakF150 - 3/22/2020
Customer Answer That really depends on how many miles you have on the spring perches, upper mounts, jounce bumper, and other hardware. That being said, after 5-years of use, you probably should look at doing a total overhaul, especially if you're in an area that uses salt in the winter.

Customer Question Hello, I have a BDS 2.5" level kit on my 2012 Ford F150 right now. I am in need of new shocks and struts. I have read that the Bilstein will got to 2.25 in the front. I am wondering if the 2.25 will raise the front higher, be the same or be lower then my 2.5. I have read that you don't get a true 2.5 with the BDS kit. I am really close with my tires right now so I can not have it be any lower.

Asked by: Bob - 2/4/2020
Customer Answer The 2.25" ride height setting of the front strut assemblies will be a lower ride height than your current leveling spacer kit. That being said, you could potentially set the Bilsteins to a 0" factory ride height and just reuse your 2.5" spacer so that you don't lose any ride height while still getting a ride/handling improvement.

Customer Question I’m wanting to put these on my 2011 2wd f150 and set them at the 1.5” setting and put a 1.5 or 2 inch block in the rear. I’d rather use the 4wd kit so that I don’t have to put the 2wd on the top notch to achieve the same lift since I’ve heard that causes a stiffer rider. I’m thinking these 4wd struts on the 1.5 inch notch will give me about a 2.25 to 2.5 inch lift in the front. Is this correct? Also will there be any issues using these on my 2wd. Thanks.

Asked by: Alex - 1/16/2020
Customer Answer We can't guarantee what kind of lift you'll get. While it's possible to install a 4WD kit on an RWD truck, we have not tried it ourselves. Other than the slight ride height difference, there aren't issues with fitment of the kit on an RWD truck.

Customer Question I have a 2.5 inch leveling kit on my 09 f 150, just a spacer on top. Can I still run these and will it lift the front up a little more or no?

Asked by: JR - 9/2/2019
Customer Answer We don't recommend it with a 2.5" leveling kit already installed. Even at the lowest .75" ride height setting, you'd be beyond 3" of total front lift, which will push your geometry too far out of whack. If you're looking to go beyond 2.5" of leveling, your better bet would be an adjustable coilover.

Customer Question How’s this kit for towing? I tow a travel trailer.

Asked by: Robert Cornwell - 8/25/2019
Customer Answer Rear stability-wise, they're a pretty big improvement for towing. The only thing you'll need to watch out for in a towing application is where you set the ride height on the front strut assemblies. If you set it too high and tow, you could get enough rear squat to put you nose-high. The rear shocks can also only handle 1" of additional rear lift, which means you won't be able to use a 3" rear block or an add-a-leaf kit if you want to squeeze some more rear ride height out of your truck.

Customer Question Can I run these shocks with a 4 inch Rough Country lift on my 2010 F150 4wd

Asked by: Colin - 6/12/2019
Customer Answer You cannot. The rear shocks in this package are not tall enough to handle a 4" lift kit. Your best bet would be to call us directly at 623-434-5277 so we can help you find the right rear shock upgrade for your truck.

Customer Question With these shocks maxed out what’s a max tire size I could use on a 18x9 -12 offset without rubbing?

Asked by: Mike - 2/12/2019
Customer Answer Without any rubbing whatsoever, we'd recommend a maximum of a 33x11.50" tire (295/65R18). If you're willing to deal with a slight amount of rub when turning and articulating (that can be solved with some valance trimming), you'd be able to fit something like a 295/70R18, 305/65R18, or 33x12.50R18.

Customer Question Can the height adjustment be done after installation? Say I wanted to go from the middle setting up to the max lift.

Asked by: Mike - 12/4/2018
Customer Answer We don't recommend it. The coil spring has to be compressed in order to change the snap ring settings, and most portable hand-held spring compressors have trouble with both the large diameter and spring rate of the factory springs. We strongly recommend using a floor mount or wall mount spring compressor.

Customer Question will this kit work on a 2wd? If so, will it improve ride quality since only replacing the shocks.

Asked by: tom - 11/22/2018
Customer Answer This kit will technically bolt up to an RWD/2WD F150. However, you will get slightly more ride height out of the front end than what they're rated for on a 4WD F150 and we recommend using the rear shocks in conjunction with either a take-off 4WD rear block or an aftermarket 1.5" rear block so that the shocks are in their proper operating range. You will get an improvement in ride quality and handling. A version of this kit for RWD F150s is here.

Customer Question I have a stock 2010 F150 RWD. I want a 4WD setup with a leveled stance. I have purchased rear blocks from a 4x4. Could I run the 4WD Bilstein kit? If so, would I need longer coil springs? Thanks.

Asked by: Drew - 2010 F150 Platinum RWD - 11/19/2018
Customer Answer To get a true 4WD 2.25" of leveling with this kit, you would likely need OEM 4WD coil springs or a set of Eibach's Pro-Lift Coil Springs which will give you 2" of ride height at the lowest Bilstein Perch setting. Granted, I can't really guarantee how they'll ride on an RWD truck, but they're at least one way to get the ride height you want.

Asked by: Stephen - 11/7/2018
Customer Answer Bilstein only rates their 5100 rear shocks to handle 1" of additional lift over stock, and a 1.5" add a leaf will technically be too tall for them. That being said, folks have used add-a-leafs in conjunction with these shocks in the past with rarely any problems.

Customer Question I currently have 1.5" leveling blocks in the front. I have 295-60-20 tires on the stock platinum wheels. If I used these shocks and removed the blocks, what position do you think I should use? Not gonna hold you to anything, just curious of your opinion and if you've seen a similar application.

Asked by: BG - 9/18/2018
Customer Answer Technically speaking, there's not a difference between how a leveling spacer and a strut assembly like the Bilstein 5100s function in regards to tire clearance, so if you took out the 1.5" spacer, you could run the 5100s at their 1.5" ride height setting and have the same clearances and stance with a better ride than just the spacer alone. You'll also preserve more rake for towing and hauling, if that's a concern. Personally, I like these trucks closer to level, so I'd run them at their max 2.25" ride height, but that's entirely up to you.

Customer Question I have a 2012 f150 with 75k. I've run the life out if my stock shocks through 20k logged miles of overlanding. I would like to do the +1.5 setting to for a slightly bigger tire. I also have a Decked system and topper on the truck at about 500lbs before I add gear. Will these shocks work with a 1.5 add a leaf, and what is the biggest tire size I can run on the +1.5 setting?

Asked by: Nate - 8/11/2018
Customer Answer Technically, Bilstein's 5100 rear shocks are only able to handle 1" of extra ride height in the rear, according to Bilstein. That being said, plenty of customers have used them with 1.5" add-a-leafs and 3" rear blocks and never had an issue. However, since you are overlanding the truck, you should probably consider a shock rated to handle the add-a-leaf, like the Halo Lifts Boss 2.0s or ICON Aluminum Series 2.0s. What size tire you'll be able to clear at 1.5" of leveling is going to depend entirely on what wheel you're using, especially its width, offset, and backspacing. You're best bet would be to call us directly at 623-434-5277 so we can get more specific about what you have.

Asked by: Bcarl903 - 6/12/2018
Customer Answer You can generally go a little taller than our usual 33x11.50" recommendation, though you would still have to say pretty narrow due to the offset. a 295/70R17, 285/75R17, or 285/70R17 should all work. You'd probably get some rub with a 305/70R17, but it would only require some valance trimming.

Customer Question I have installed a set of 5100's on the highest setting. They are working great. I currently have about roughly 2"-2.25" of rake still as I installed a 3 inch rear block. Can I add a spacer to the struts and replace the UCA with icons, or what would you recommend to get another 1-2 inches and get close to level? I do not want to have the front higher than the rear, I would be fine with .5" of rake

Asked by: Seth McCauley - 1/30/2018
Customer Answer You technically can add a spacer to the Bilsteins, though we absolutely do not recommend going beyond a total of 3" worth of leveling up front, even with an aftermarket upper control arm. At most, you'd have to use the Bilstein's 1.50" ride height setting and a 1.50" spacer. However, we'd probably stay on the safe side and use the 5100's .75" ride height setting in conjunction with a 2" spacer to stay below 3". You'd probably have a smidge more rake than what you're after, but you wouldn't be completely maxing out your front geometry. If you wanted to fine-tune your rake further, you'd probably be better off swapping your 3" block for a Halo Lift's 2-2.5" Block Kit to bring your rear down slightly.

Customer Question will this kit help with towing stability on a 2012 f150 ecoboost ?

Asked by: Paul - 1/30/2018
Customer Answer Yep, and by a pretty big margin. The stock rear shocks are especially pretty "meh" to begin with, and the 5100s can help you get much better stability, depending on what you're towing. If you are towing fairly heavy, you may also want to look into an add-a-leaf kit and/or air springs, though.

Customer Answer We do not recommend taking these trucks beyond 3" of total front lift, so if you want to keep your front spacer, then the highest ride height setting we'd suggest using is the +.75" setting. That being said, it takes about 2.50" of leveling to get these trucks "dead-level", and at 2.75" of front ride height, you'd likely have some amount of rear rake. You'd probably be better off ditching the strut spacers and just using the Bilsteins at their 2.25" ride height setting. We strongly recommend getting an alignment after install to correct your truck's toe angles to prevent excessive or unusual tire wear.

Customer Question How much of a mileage loss will this kit cause? With the front end higher and not sloped (like from the factory), its going to create more drag, thus, decreasing mileage.

Asked by: Trace - 1/11/2018
Customer Answer Fuel economy losses from a leveling kit on its own are minimal at most. Almost all losses are due to upgrading tire size. That being said, the truck is higher in the air which does add some amount of wind resistance, so you might take a hit of up to 1mpg.

Customer Question i have a set of fox coilovers on my truck at the moment but i feel they are worn out, im looking into feasable options as to replacements. i no longer have my front struts would you be able to tell me if this kit comes with springs for the front or if i would be able to use the fox shock springs and upper mounts?

Asked by: matt - 12/11/2017
Customer Answer This kit does not come with springs or an upper mount. The Bilstein 5100s are specifically designed to reuse the stock spring and upper mount. You would not be able to use the Fox 2.0 coilover spring and mounts with the Bilsteins. Your best bet would be find a local off-road shop that can do a same-day rebuild service on your Fox 2.0s. If that's not possible, then going with the Bilstein B8 6112 coilover assemblies and getting new upper mounts from your local Ford dealer would be a better bet. However, you can also get this kit, but you would have to source springs and mounts locally.

Customer Question 2013 Ford F-150 FX4, With this kit can i run a 295/60/20 on Stock Wheels with no tire rub?

Asked by: Shaun Jordan - 10/26/2017
Customer Answer You'd likely be fine with the Bilsteins on their maximum ride height setting during normal street driving. You will probably see some rub when turning and articulating at the same time off-road, though.

Customer Question Will 305/65r18 tires on a +18mm offset wheels fit under these set at the 1.5" setting? That's my goal, but want to make sure or go up to the 2.25" setting or go with the Eibach struts at 2".

Asked by: Spartan77 - 10/6/2017
Customer Answer You would likely get some rub at 1.5". Your better bet would be at least 2", if not the maximum 2.25" provided by this kit.

Customer Question I was curious to know if I installed the leveling kit on my 13' XLT 4wd would I clear 33/12.5/20 tires ? Also the wheels are 20x12, with a -43mm offset. Thanks

Asked by: Jmadzam - 9/26/2017
Customer Answer You'd rub a bit due the width of the tire and the offset pushing the apex of the tire out to where the wheel well starts to curve back in. Trimming of your valance and back of the front wheel well should take care of it.

Customer Question Would the rear shocks be compatible with an add a leaf? Most add a leafs say they offer 1.5 in of lift, these rear shocks say they will work with only 1 in of lift.

Asked by: Chap85 - 9/15/2017
Customer Answer While Bilstein only recommends doing 1" of lift over stock, the amount of travel the shocks have mean they can feasibly handle 1.5" of lift from either an add-a-leaf kit or a 3" rear block.

Customer Question I already have an Autospring 1.5" spacer kit from you guys installed on my 2013 XLT 4x4, and current leveling setup looks good. In need of new shocks though. Would you suggest removing the spacers, and use only the adjustable rings on these to re-level, or leave donuts in place and just run the front shocks at a lower ring setting? Great sale price on this set!! Thx.

Asked by: Kev K - 8/10/2017
Customer Answer We usually recommend removing your spacer, since it's kind of pointless with the Bilstein's ride-height adjustability. You can likely sell the spacer kit used locally, anyway.

Customer Question I have a 2wd 2011 f150. If I buy the 4wd kit, would i keep the adjustment at zero and still level my truck. Therefore, being able to have a higher rake in the front if i move the adjustments up? Would there be a downside to having the 4wd struts mounted on a 2wd? Thanks

Asked by: Billy Bob - 7/25/2017
Customer Answer You wouldn't level your truck. The difference in front ride height between an RWD F150 and a 4WD is maybe .75" to a full inch, which is not enough to level your truck. There's not really a downside for an RWD truck using the 4WD front struts, though you may want to consider using the 4WD struts with the RWD rear shocks as a "half & half" package if you're not planning on doing a rear block, since the 4WD rear shocks will technically be out of their ideal operating range.

Customer Question I currently have P275/55R20 on my '13 Ford F150 FX4. I'd like to go bigger on the tires. What is the maximum I can go for tire?

Asked by: Craig - 6/14/2017
Customer Answer That's going to depend on what perch setting you're planning to use, as well as the specifications of the wheels you're using, especially their widths, offsets, and backspacing. In general, the biggest tire we usually recommend for this kit at its highest perch setting is a 33x11.50" tire. Still, you're best bet would be to give us a call directly at 623-434-5277 so we can get more specific about you're trying to do with your truck.

Asked by: Javier - 6/11/2017
Customer Answer This kit will not fit your truck. The Bilstein 5100 Package for the 2015-2017 F150s is here. If you're only looking at ride quality, then arguably getting new rear shocks would be more important, since the stock shocks cause a lot of drivability and handling problems. If you want to fit on bigger tires, then the front struts are arguably more important, since it's the front end that's holding you back on tire clearance.

Customer Answer Yep. The Bilstein 5100s will fit and function on an F150 equipped with an HD Payload Package. I believe the only difference in regards to the coilover assemblies is the spring rate, and the upper and lower spring perches are the same.

Customer Question Hi. I have recently purchased a 2013 F 150 SuperCrew Platinum Ecoboost. I am very interested in the Bilstein 5100 Adjustable Leveling Shock Kit. I will be using the factory 20” Platinum wheels. (8.5” wide and I believe 44mm offset). 1. What are the different snap ring settings (I’m seeing conflicting information)? What are the expected rakes for each of those snap ring setting? 2. At the highest setting, does the ride really suffer? I don’t mind a stiffer, but I certainly wouldn’t want it to be worse than factory. 3. I’d like to run some 275/65/R20 Terra Grappler G2’s. From what I can tell by doing a lot of forum research, this tire should fit, but I am wondering if you know anything about the tire/leveling strut combo. 4. Would you say the biggest problem with tire fitment/rubbing is the width or the height?

Asked by: TXF150 ECO Platinum - 4/16/2017
Customer Answer 1). The ride height settings of the Bilstein 5100 strut assemblies for 4WD F150s are 0" stock height, +.75" of lift, +1.5" of lift, and +2.25" of lift. Naturally, you'll have more rake with the lower you go, though I can't quote exact numbers since that depends on the wear and tear of your suspension, whether or not you have bed-mount accessories, and what option packages your truck is equipped with. 2). Ride quality does tend to stiffen up as you go higher, since there's more preload on the stock spring. As to what's "worse" than factory, that really depends on whether or not you're willing to sacrifice some plushness for improved control, response, and body roll. 3). You'd be able to clear that tire with the 5100s set at their full ride 2.25" of ride height, though you could potentially see some rub when turning while articulating. 4). Both height and width of the tire play a role in rubbing, as well as the width, offset, and backspacing of the wheel.

Customer Question I have 3" level with no blocks in the rear on my 2011 XLT. I'm currently running 33x12.5 on 20x9 33mm offset. I'm looking at upgrading to 35x12.5 on 20x12 with -44mm offset. Would these shocks be compatible with my 3" level while adding the extra height I'd need? I'm not worried about rear rake, I'll add blocks if I need to. I'm trying to get my truck between 4"-6" without a lift kit.

Asked by: Cord - 3/3/2017
Customer Answer You can't go beyond 3" of front leveling without cause issues with your F150's front suspension geometry and CV angles. If you're shooting for 4-6" of lift, you're much better off going with a complete lift kit.

Customer Question I just purchased this kit for my 2012 fx4 screw ecoboost. I am looking for a level, with a slight rake more on the level side. With the stock 20" rims what is the largest tire I can go with out cutting anything? Minor trimming I don't mind, or adding up to a 1/4" spacers. I wanted to go 35" but started to lean more toward the 34" 295/60-20.

Asked by: Rich D. - 1/5/2017
Customer Answer You can probably clear a 295/60R20 without much issue with the Bilstein's at their highest 2.25" ride height setting, and would only see rub while turning and articulating at the same time. If you are interested in keeping some rake by using the Bilsteins at their 1.5" setting, you may get some rub with those tires, but should be able to trim a bit to rectify the issue.

Customer Question I already have a leveling kit. Will these add additional lift?

Asked by: Steve - 12/15/2016
Customer Answer They technically can, though we don't recommend running the Bilsteins in conjunction with spacer leveling kits due to ride quality concerns, and because you can easily go beyond the recommended amount of front lift for your truck (which is about 3"). If you are dead-set on using your spacer in conjunction with the Bilsteins, you'll want to set the Bilsteins so that you're not going beyond 3" of ride height.

Customer Question What size block would you recommend when running the 5100s on the 1.5 inch setting in order to maintain a factory front to rear rake? I was thinking 2 inch.

Asked by: Steve - 11/9/2016
Customer Answer Running the Bilsteins at 1.5" of ride height will still preserve some amount of rear rake. In our opinion, these trucks usually aren't totally dead-level until about 2.5" of leveling.

Customer Question what would be the max tire size that you would suggest for a 2013 f150 xlt with this set up at max height?

Asked by: FordManiac - 11/7/2016
Customer Answer That's going to depend on your choice of wheels, specifically their widths, offsets, and backspacing. In general, the biggest tires we recommend for the 5100s maximum 2.25" ride height is a 33x11.50" tire or a close metric equivalent.

Customer Question Can this kit be used with a rough country 6" lift to gain a little extra lift?

Asked by: Austin - 10/16/2016
Customer Answer It can, though you probably don't want to set the Bilsteins to their full 2.25" ride height in conjunction with a 6" lift, at least until you can gauge how far the brake lines are going to stretch and how far your driveshaft pulls of out its yoke. You may require longer brake lines or a driveshaft spacer at 8.25" of ride height, so we'd strongly recommend starting off at a the Bilstein's lower .75" or 1.5" ride height settings.

Customer Question I am wanting to put new Bilstein shocks on my 2011 F150 xlt 3.5 4x4 . It has a leveling kit on it. I have read and read the reviews and support for the shocks. Some say I need the 5100's because I occasionally do go off road but not in a thrashing manner but others say I need the 4600's because of the same...I am confused. Can you help?

Asked by: Norm - 10/14/2016
Customer Answer The Bilstein 4600s don't have any ride height settings and are meant as an improved stock replacement strut assembly. The 5100s offer up to 2.25" of leveling capability and improved suspension performance. As long as your off-roading isn't too aggressive, the 5100s will work just fine.

Customer Question Will this kit work with a 6" rough country lift?

Asked by: Nick - 10/2/2016
Customer Answer It will not. The rear shocks are not long enough for a 6" lift kit. You can technically use the front struts, IF AND ONLY IF, you use them in conjunction with Rough Country's strut spacer, since they're not long enough to be used in a standalone application. You can purchase the struts on their own right here.

Customer Question I have read that these ride a little rough on the highest setting. Can I run them on a mid range setting to not have them pre loaded so much and add a 2" AS level kit to give me added lift? But will that give me 3" of lift in the front and put a lot of stress on the CVs and ball joints

Asked by: Tom - 9/18/2016
Customer Answer The 5100 front struts come with perch settings for a 0" lift stock ride height, +.75", +1.50", and +2.25" of height. You could technically use a 2" spacer on the .75" ride height setting and get 2.75" of front lift without getting two extreme with your suspension geometry, but that's about the highest we'd recommend going. That being said, we can't really guarantee what kind of ride quality you'd get out of the combination since the 5100s aren't really designed for that sort of thing, and at 2.75" of ride height, you'd likely get pretty noticeable rear rake.

Customer Question I have installed this kit in place of a 2" rough country i was previously running. Since installing (and taking a part to re-install ensuring everything is installed properly) the front end adjustable 5100's ride terribly rough on bumps and make loud poping/thumping noise... Is there a fix to this condition? Im contemplating reducing them back down to the .75" location and installing them with the 2" level i have but im worried that it could cause damage? Any insite would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Asked by: JD Lacey - 8/29/2016
Customer Answer The Bilstein 5100s are known to get pretty stiff when they're up at their full 2.25" ride height. That being said, there shouldn't be a ton or popping or thumping. I know you went over the install again, but one thing you want to check if your ride feels weird and you're getting strange sounds is the sway bar and/or CVs and IWEs and make sure all of their hardware is secured and torqued to proper specs. If you can't find anything wrong with them, then you could try dropping the 5100s down a setting, though I'd try them on their 1.5" perch setting alone and see if that helps at all before trying to drop them down to .75" and stack a spacer on top, which would end up giving you rear rake unless you already have a block or add-a-leaf.

Customer Question 2013 F-150 XLT 4x4, will it be wise to get an aftermarket uca with the shock set at max setting?

Asked by: Alex - 6/13/2016
Customer Answer It really depends on what you're doing with your truck. If your truck is pretty much a street truck or a towing and hauling vehicle that doesn't see too much off-road use, then you likely wouldn't need UCAs. However, if you do off-road on the regular or you're in situations where you're really articulating your front suspension, then its probably a good idea to get aftermarket uniball UCAs.

Customer Question Hello there, I am confused because another reputable high performance shop told me that bilstein 5100 series only good for RWD FORD F150........, while others said this set only fit lifted truck. Is this true ? are these parts fit 2012 FORD F150 Harley Davidson Edition equipped with 6.2L V8 RWD/AWD/4WD with OEM struts and shocks ? (stock height) Thank you for your time. Sicerely, Rod.

Asked by: Rod. - 6/7/2016
Customer Answer This version of the Bilstein 5100s do fit 4WD F150s and are more than adequate for street trucks or F150s that see light-duty off-roading. The kit replaces your F150s front struts and rear shocks and is suitable for F150's at factory ride height. This kit is specific for 4WD F150s. If you have an RWD truck, then you'll need our 5100 Series Kit for RWD F150s.

Customer Question I have a 2013 FX4 with a 1.5" leveling kit on it currently and looking to upgrade shocks. I've seen that having the 5100s at the top notch decreases ride quality so I don't want to remove my leveling kit and put the shocks at max height. Can you put the shock at a lower setting (one above stock) and also use my current leveling kit to get a little added height and improved ride quality? Will that compromise the geometry?

Asked by: Wade - 5/23/2016
Customer Answer You technically could, however, I can't guarantee how much better the ride quality would be versus just running the 5100s at their full height. Your suspension geometry gets thrown off by any leveling system, though as long as you stay under 3" of total lift height, your LCA, CV, UCA, and tie rod's lifespans won't be overly effected.

Asked by: Tom - 5/11/2016
Customer Answer New spring seats aren't included. Installation requires you to transfer the stock spring seats over to the 5100 Series struts. The wheel and tire combination will likely clear, as long as you have the struts set at their maximum 2.25" ride height.

Customer Question When are they going to come out with a set of theses for the 2014 model and why will these not fit the 2014?

Asked by: Andrew - 5/1/2016
Customer Answer Bilstein says late summer to mid-autumn before they released a set of 5011 struts that fit the 2014-2016 F150s. The reason there's a split between 2009-2013 and 2014-2015 is because Ford changed the design of the lower LCA strut mount from a standard clevis to a GM-style bar-pin style mount starting in the 2014 model year.

However, the rear shocks are not long enough to be used with a 6" lift kit. The Bilstein 5100 Series Struts alone are here. If you're looking for a good upgrade for Rough Country's included rear shock, then take a look at BDS's Fox 2.0 Shock for 6" Lift Kits.

Customer Question Would the tires rub with stock fx4 20" wheels and 295/60r20s? What about 305/55/r20s?

Asked by: Paul - 4/5/2016
Customer Answer That's going to depend on where you set the front struts, though on their highest 2.25" ride height setting, you'll likely clear the 305/55R20s without having to trim the valance, but you may get some rubbing on your FX4's fender flares with either tire.

Customer Question I ordered the 5100 adjustable kit, but it does not contain a spring seat and the stock one on the ford is connected to the original strut? Where can I get a replacement spring seat or am I missing something else? Thanks for your time. - Alex

Asked by: Alex - 4/4/2016
Customer Answer The stock spring seats are reused with the Bilstein 5100s. The seats are held onto the stock strut by its dust caps, which are a bit tough to remove, but it is doable.

Customer Question Is there any information when or if these will fit 2015 f150 4x4?

Asked by: Chris - 3/20/2016
Customer Answer The struts in this kit will not fit a 2014-2016 F150 at all, due to the fact that Ford changed the design of the lower LCA mount starting in 2014. Bilstein is working on a set of 5100 struts for the 2014-2016 F150s, but we don't have an ETA.

Customer Question I am looking at putting the Bilstein 5100's at the 2.25" setting in the front on my 2012 F150 FX4. I want to keep my stock 18" wheels. What is the tallest and widest tire I can go up to without rubbing? Thank you for your help!

Asked by: Charles - 2/26/2016
Customer Answer The biggest tires we generally recommend for up to 2.5" leveling kits and the factory wheels are roughly 33x11.5" tires or close metric equivalents.

Customer Question Will this set up work on the 2014 F150 4wd?

Asked by: JP - 2/20/2016
Customer Answer It will not. The 2014-2016 F150s use an entirely different lower control arm strut mount than the 2009-2013 F150s. Unfortunately, Bilstein as yet to release a set of struts for the 2014-2016 F150s.

Customer Question Did anyone replace the strut mount, Spring Seat, Bump Stop, and Boot when they installed these, or just reuse the existing? Do you need to/Recommended? What parts did you use?

Asked by: Dennis - 2/16/2016
Customer Answer It really just depends on what condition your OEM hardware is in. If you're put a lot of miles on it (especially in areas that use a lot of salt on the roads), then it's not necessarily a bad idea to get new strut mounts, springs seats or boots. Unfortunately, we haven't installed one of these kits on our project trucks as of yet.

Customer Question At the 2.25" setting do the upper control arms hit the spring at ride height? Any 2-3" spacer lift I've seen they hit at ride height, making them hard to align correctly. I was not sure if this the case with the bilsteins as well since I'm adding a cam kit at the same time to have alignment set.

Asked by: Cody - 2/15/2016
Customer Answer While there may be spring contact, it should only occur at or near full droop and downtravel. For standard driving, you shouldn't see much, if any spring contact, and you shouldn't have difficulty getting the truck aligned. However, if problems do come up, feel free to give us a call directly at 1-877-578-2433 for troubleshooting solutions.

Customer Question 2011 f150 xlt 4x4 with stock 18" wheels. With this kit installed, recommended tire size? 295 65 18?

Asked by: Bud - 2/8/2016
Customer Answer It really depends on how high you have the perches set on the struts, but in general, if you're at 1.5" or 2.25", then those tires should fit fine with the stock wheels, as will other 33" equivalent tires.

Customer Question I know it says for 2009-2013 F150 4WD but given that the 2013 and 2014 F150 FX4 are very alike, could this fit on a 2014 F150 FX4?

Asked by: Michael Embrey - 11/28/2015
Customer Answer This kit will not fit 2014 F150s due to the fact that the lower strut mounts on the LCAs are completely different between the 2009-2013 F150s and the 2014-2016 F150s. Bilstein does not currently have a 5100 front strut kit for the 2014-2016 F150s at this time.

Customer Question What's the biggest tire I can run on the stock 22's with the 5100's?

Asked by: 2011 limited - 11/12/2015
Customer Answer That entirely depends on what ride height setting you're going to use on the front 5100s, as they can be set at +.75", +1.50", +2.25". Generally, you can fit on up to a 33x11.5" tire on stock wheels with the struts set at 2.25". The closest size for 22" wheels would probably be 285/50R22 tires.

Customer Question I am about to order the Bilstein 5100 adjustable leveling shock kit for my 2010 2wd F150 Lariat supercrew. I will also be installing an add a leaf to the rear so should I order the 4x4 kit that has the longer rear shocks to compensate for the extra height from the add a leaf?

Asked by: john - 9/19/2015
Customer Answer You really could go either way, as the 2WD rear shocks should be able to handle the extra ride height of the Add-A-Leaf Kit without any major issues. That being said, the 4WD variant will eek yo out some extra travel and the front struts will give your 2WD a smidge of extra ride height over what they're rated for on the 4WD trucks, which should reduce front rake more than 2WD kit after you've installed the Add-a-Leaf kit. You'll still have some amount of front rake after you install the Add-a-Leaf kit.

Customer Question Want to purchase for 2011 f150 ... Currently running a ready lift spacer kit I should have went blistein from the jump only question is will my 33" nitto G'2s still be okay...if I set at 2" setting?

Asked by: George - 7/22/2015
Customer Answer Well, the Bilsteins have perch settings for 1.75" and 2.25" of ride height, so your tires should be able to clear just fine at the full 2.25" setting. The 1.75" setting is a little more questionable, and will depend on the wheel and how wide those tires are. Your best bet would be to call us directly at 1-877-578-2433 so we can get more specific about your wheel and tire setup.

Customer Question so from what i have seen with your reviews and customers reviews, at full level (the look id like to go for) the ride becomes stiffer. which is expected for an adjustable shock. my truck is my daily driver and tow pig for my jeep which is my offroad toy (which has bilsteins that i absolutely love). id like my ride to be as smooth and comfortable as possible, so what do you guys think about this set of shocks left at the lowest setting and then spacers for the height factor? or is there another set you guys know of that will deliver a soft, smooth, comfortable ride? thanks, -Andy.

Asked by: Andy - 4/21/2015
Customer Answer Well, you'd kind of be defeating the purpose of Bilsteins by leaving them at 0" of ride height and then stacking on a spacer. You'd get a decent ride out of the deal, but you'd also keep a good ride by just using your factory struts with a spacer kit in the first place. Frankly, I'd just look into doing a leveling spacer, or possibly a set of Rancho QuickLifts if you want to replace your stock strut.

Customer Question I have a 2014 fx4 and was wondering if this would be okay for that year (it says 2009-13?)

Asked by: Tyler - 4/5/2015
Customer Answer The front struts will not fit 2014 F150s. The 2014s use a bar-and-pin mount on the lower control arm, unlike the standard clevis that was used on 2009 to 2013 F150s. Bilstein is supposedly working on version for the 2014 F150s (that will possibly also fit the 2015s), but we have no ETA.

Customer Question 2013 4WD F150 Crew; can these shocks handle the rear stock spacer being deleted?

Asked by: Double S - 1/25/2015

Customer Question So running these front shocks set to the top setting will get my truck level, but will running them at the top setting be less than ideal for performance due to it will have the most spring compression? As far as performance would I be better off running them one down from top setting and dealing with a slight rake? thanks!

Asked by: ike_h - 1/22/2015
Customer Answer It's hit or miss between trucks and the definition of "acceptable ride quality" varies person to person. In general, the top setting can firm up the ride of your truck due to the extra preload placed on the factory spring. Overall suspension performance isn't going to differ too much. Still, if you want to be safe, you can use the middle setting of the struts and see if you can live with the rake, if you don't want to take the struts apart twice. If it were me, I'd just start high and go lower, if the ride quality wasn't up to snuff.

Asked by: Josh - 12/19/2014
Customer Answer You will have significant amounts of rubbing, even with trimming, since those tires are almost 34" tall and 12" wide. The truck may still be drivable, but you'd be better off with a 2.5" spacer or a coilover that can go up to 3".

Customer Question Will BF All-terrain 35s fit on a 2013 F150 supercrew 4x4 with these bilsteins on the highest setting?

Asked by: Eric - 12/9/2014
Customer Answer That's heavily dependent on your truck's wheels, especially their offset and backspacing, as well as the width of the tire. In general, you won't be able to fit 35" tires with this kit without doing some trimming or getting a good bit of rubbing. Customer Question 2009-2013 F150 4WD Bilstein 5100 Adjustable Shock Kit. WILL THIS KIT FIT A 2014 F150 4X4?

Asked by: JAMES 2014 F150 4X4 - 3/24/2014
Customer Answer This kit WILL NOT fit 2014 F150s, regardless of submodel. Ford changed the shock mount on the lower control arms to a different style on the 2014 trucks, which means the vast majority of our front shocks, suspension packages, and lift kits won't fit. A few companies are working on 2014-specific hardware and/or adapters which should all be released soon.

Asked by: Brian Pohlman / 2010 F150 FX4 - 3/13/2014
Customer Answer According to Bilstein, these shocks can handle up to 1" of rear lift. A 3" block can add up to 1.5" of lift depending on the condition of your rear suspension. I'd personally go the safe route and go with a smaller block or a different set of shocks.

Customer Question Which location should the snap ring be placed in order to level the front of the truck with the back ? Top position on second to top? So that the nose isn't higher

Asked by: Josh 2013 f150 - 2/25/2014
Customer Answer I'd argue that the top +2.25" position would give the most "dead-level" look, however, every truck is different and it also depends on the condition of your suspension as to the final geometry and ride height of your front end. You may want to play it safe and start it out at the middle +1.5" ride height and see how it sits. Still, the tallest position is most likely to give your F150 a fully leveled look.
