2014 Ford F-150 3.5L Platinum 4x4
The locker is made for the rear 8.8, but works perfectly in the front 8.8 as well. So don't be alarmed by the packaging. I had a professional installer accomplish this and yes, you have to drill a hole for the locker and run the switch to the cab somewhere. Additionally, my installer was awesome and installed a drain plug in the diff as you will want to change the fluid after a break in period and pulling the diff is a pain. Performance wise the elocker is a glorified easy button to getting over any obstacle...mainly loose rock, sand, and snow. Add this with some nice gears and make your truck a monster! Now time for a lift as clearance is the only thing that holds me back.

The unit was installed by a local ford dealer that does hi performance work. Works like a charm. Now I am ready to play GOD in the winter snow wih e lockers front and rear. On the list to transport Hospital emergency personnel, so I can go out into the worst storms LEGALLY.

2013 Ford F-150
This is probably one of the best mods you can do to to you're F-150. Installation is easy if you're handy on the tools. Took about a day to complete without rushing. It uses standard carrier bearings, so I just bought new carrier bearings from the local Ford dealer. You do need to use OEM bearings as aftermarket bearings are a bit thicker which means you will need different shims. Now would also be a good time to replace all the seals in the differential housing since it's removed. You do need to drill a 1/2" whole in the upper left (as viewed from the diff cover.) of the differential housing, it's easy, just take your time and work clean. I made a metal tab that goes under the head of the upper left carrier bearing cap bolt. It aids in keeping the wiring away from the ring gear bolt heads. I took pictures, but it seems the ability to upload pictures on this review is broken... Obviously an IFS set-up isn't as strong as a solid axle, so take care not to have the front diff locked on high traction surfaces, such as pavement. The CV axles are the weak link, so watch the wheel spin and shock load to the driveline and you'll be fine.

Customer Question Does this use the same carrier bearings as the stock open carrier? Or does it require different than OEM carrier bearings? Thanks for the help.

Asked by: Allen - 9/1/2025
Customer Answer The Eaton eLocker (part #19660-010) is designed as a direct-fit replacement for the factory open carrier in the 8.8" 31-spline IFS front differential. It uses the same carrier bearings as stock, so no special or different bearings are required to make it work.

Customer Question Any known issues using this on a Powerboost? I have a 2024 Powerboost hybrid with locking rear diff, would like front lockers.

Asked by: Mordith - 7/12/2025
Customer Answer There no difference in front differential on the powerboost trucks, so this will bolt right in no problem.

Customer Question Will the elocker work with a 2009 f150? What is the difference between 2009 and 2011 front differential?

Asked by: Timmy - 11/18/2023
Customer Answer Yes, this will work on an 2009 F150 4wd from 8.8" IFS differential. There is no difference between the two years you mention.

Customer Question Can this be tied into the factory wiring for the factory rear elocker? I know that means that there's no way to engage one without the other but I think I'm OK with that.

Asked by: Jason - 6/10/2023
Customer Answer We have not tried to tie into the factory wiring with this kit, and could not say whether you would have any issues in compatability with the factory setup.

Customer Question I have a 2013 F 150 FX4 with the 3.5 ecoboost. Do all 2013 f150s with the 8.8 front differential have 31 splines? I also have 3:73 gears, if that helps. Thanks.

Asked by: Coop - 10/27/2021
Customer Answer Yep. All 2011-2014 F150s used the same front 8.8" 31-spline front axles.

Customer Question I just got off the phone with Eton and they claim Part # 19660-010 is for the 8.8 rear axle only and that they do not offer a locker for the IFS 8.8. Did you have to modify or adapt anything to make this fit other than the wiring hole? Thanks!

Asked by: Kevin - 11/2/2020
Customer Answer The locker will fit the front 8.8" IFS on the 2009-2019 F150s. The 2009-2019 front 8.8" uses 31-spline axles and C-clips like the rear. Since this is a locker and not an LSD with directional gears/clutches, there's no reason why this differential won't work on the front, though you do have to drill and use a grommet to run the wiring. We have not done an install ourselves as of yet (we are hoping to in the near future), but several customers have without issues.

Customer Question Do you know if the 2018+ Expeditions with the 3.73 gears use the same 8.8” 31 spline differential as the F150?

Asked by: Eric - 8/18/2020
Customer Answer As far as I'm aware, the 2014-2020 Expeditions do use a 31-spline 8.8" IFS. However, I have not seen a complete part number break down for all of the components, so we can't outright guarantee that this differential will perfectly fit.

Customer Question Can the front end of a 150 really take this? Thinking of adding this to it to a 2018 as a way of adding in getting unstuck. Front end leveled, 33s, and tire chains in the snow. I’d be half scared it would twist something off? Or is trying to turn with them locked the real danger?

Asked by: Wyoming - 1/20/2020
Customer Answer The factory front CVs of the F150s are actually pretty stout. Now, it's not impossible to break one, especially if your tire is really jammed up and you're throwing a lot of power at the problem. However, for most general applications (i.e. snow), you likely won't have a problem. If you are concerned, we do have a few upgraded axles available.

Customer Question Wil this elocker work on my 2006 f150 front differential as it looks the same from your pics?

Asked by: Don - 9/24/2019
Customer Answer It will not. The 2004-2008 F150s and the 2009-2019 F150s both use an 8.8" IFS. However, the 2004-2008 F150s use 28-spline CV shafts, and this differential will not fit. Unfortunately, Eaton does not have an eLocker for the 28-spline 8.8" IFS trucks.

Customer Question What are the pros and cons with this Elocker vs. the ARB air locker. I have been told air lockers are better but they require much more to work (ie.onboard air).

Asked by: Brian B - 6/21/2019
Customer Answer ARB's Air Lockers are physically stronger than Eaton's eLocker, but you are correct in that the ARB Air Lockers are more complex and require an on-board compressor, air lines, and manifold for install. The Eaton solely requires wiring to your battery and a standard rocker single-function switch of some sort. Both require drilling into your truck's differential housing. In the end, unless you either already have a suitable on-board compressor or you're really going to be beating the heck out of your truck, the Eaton is probably the better bang-for-your-buck.

Customer Question This will work on rear end too

Asked by: chris - 2/22/2019
Customer Answer This differential will work on the rear ends of 2009-2014 F150s with an 8.8" rear end. However, it will not work on 2009-2019 F150s with a 9.75" rear end or a 2015-2019 F150s with a Super 8.8" rear end. If you're not sure about what rear end your F150 has, please call us directly at 623-434-5277.

Customer Question So this locker will stay locked until we turn it off?? Correct ? Meaning as long as we have switch to on. It will stay locked regardless of mph ?

Asked by: Shamoo - 10/31/2018
Customer Answer Correct, though you'll still want to be careful with your speed with the axles locked. It's not impossible to shear a CV

Customer Question Does the differential has any important reliability-durability effect on drivetrain, suspension or steering?

Asked by: Gustavo - 7/31/2018
Customer Answer The differential itself won't effect longevity or durability of your truck's drivetrain/driveline components. However, how you use the thing and your truck will definitely have an impact. If you're doing the type of off-roading that justifies this differential, if you accidentally leave it engaged on pavement, if you get one of your CV axles extremely stuck and gun it, and other situations as such will not be kind to your F150's driveline in general.

Customer Question Will this work with 5.13 gears? I would like to run 37's.

Asked by: MArtin jackson - 4/23/2017
Customer Answer The locker will feasibly work fine with any ring-and-pinion gear set (including 5.13s) as long as the axles keep the Ford 8.8" 31-spline pattern.

Customer Question Would this e-locker work with the 2011-2016 F150 4WD Yukon Complete 4.11 Gear Swap Package? Can the e-locker be wired into the wiring of my factory locking rear diff?

Asked by: Andrew - 1/1/2017
Customer Answer The Eaton eLocker will fit with our Yukon 4.11 Gear Package. As far as tying it into the wiring for the factory rear eLocker, it may be possible, but we can't guarantee it, and personally, I don't recommend it. For one, any engagement of the rear differential will also lock the front regardless of whether or not you're in 4WD, which would put needless wear on the eLocker. Secondly, the factory rear eLocker only stays locked up to 35 mph, regardless of whether you pulled out the knob, while the Eaton unit can stay locked as long as you want as long as the switch is activated.

Customer Question Are new bearings required for install? How detailed are the instructions? I am thinking of doing this next summer on my 15' F150.

Asked by: Brad - 12/8/2016
Customer Answer New bearings aren't necessarily required for installation, assuming that your truck doesn't have a ton of miles on it and that you manage to remove the stock bearings without damaging them (which is easier said than done). The installation instructions are a bit generic, to be honest, since they're general for all 8.8" IFS applications. We generally recommend a professional install, since installation is a bit intensive and requires drilling into your differential housing.

Customer Question How much shop time to install this locker? What is average labor cost? Thanks

Asked by: Michael - 8/28/2016
Customer Answer Install time and labor costs will depend on the shop, but 6-8 hours sounds about right as far as time is concerned. That being said, your best bet would be to shop around locally to compare prices and to work out deals.
