A Breakdown of 5-Star's Custom Tune Offerings

5-Star includes several different tune options for your Super Duty when you order an SCT Device that includes a set of their custom tunes. Each tune serves a distinct purpose so that your truck can tow, haul, daily drive, and rip around off-road effectively, all while it churns out massive amounts of new horsepower and torque.

Performance/Street Tune: these tunes pack the most horsepower and torque, and feature fast, firm, and aggressive shifting so that your F250 or F350 Super Duty feels like it will fly off the handle whenever you punch the throttle. However, that power and hard shifting does leave a bit to be desired when it comes to the daily grind, and these tunes should not be used for towing, due to possible EGT spikes.

Towing Tune: 5-Star's tow tunes jump of the power and feature shift pressures and points that are designed for maximizing low-end torque. These tunes force your transmission to hold gears longer and shift both faster and firmer than stock so that you can tow and haul just about anything you need at any time without lugging along.

Economy Tune: the Super Duty Diesels are definitely not known for their around-town MPG ratings. 5-Star's Economy tunes aim to fix that so your Super Duty doesn't suffer abysmal fuel mileage around town. 5-Star's Economy Tunes keep your truck in lower RPM ranges while keeping the truck out of boost as much as possible in stop-and-go traffic conditions so that your truck isn't burning unnecessary amounts of fuel. 5-Star's Economy tunes result in mild power gains.

Transmission Tune: 5-Star's transmission tunes keep your truck at stock power levels, but adjust your transmission's shift points and shift pressure for improved drivability. These tunes have firmer and faster shifting than stock, as well as longer gear holding so that your truck feels faster and more responsive without actually having any additional power.
