Highlights:
Complete set of four Bilstein 5100s
Includes front struts capable of up to 2.5" of leveling
Rear shocks provide enhanced rear-end stability
Gas-charged monotube internal design
Steel bodies with zinc-plated finish
Better Off-Road Drive and Comfort
The 2019-2023 Ford Ranger should not be trusted to handle the toughest of off-road trails. If you need something with better performance, up to 2.5" of front height and the capability to handle 1" of rear height, a Bilstein B8 5100 Adjustable Leveling Shock Kit will not disappoint you. These front and rear shocks are the perfect replacements for the stock leveling components and come backed by Bilstein's legendary quality and performance. The Bilstein B8 5100 shocks are built from scratch to offer your Ranger a very defined experience. An adjustable front height from 0 to 2.75" allows you to raise the Ranger to your liking and fit larger off-road tires. This increased height and potential new tires help protect your Ranger from off-road obstacles and creates a better driving experience out in the dirt. The specialized valving, high-quality piston and other great components of these shocks provide excellent off-road performance, increased wheel travel, better handling, improved towing control, and a fade free performance!
Features Front & Rear Components w/ an Easy Insall
The Bilstein Ranger 5100 Shock Kit replaces your stock OEM coilover and shock suspension with better components. The 5100 front and rear shocks are built around a monotube, nitrogen gas-charged design for fade-free performance. Each shock uses self-adjusting deflective disc valving, which adapts to different road conditions and provides excellent response in almost any application. The shocks' digressive piston adapts to changing road conditions. The smooth body of each shock is made out of heavy-duty steel and features a 46mm diameter build for a strong shock. A zinc-plated finish and a Triple-C coating adds a great look. The front shocks use snap-in grooves allow you to make height adjustments between 0 and 2.5". When collapsed, the front shock reaches 14.59" and 19.26" when fully extended. The rear shock reaches 15.55" when collapsed and 24.71" when fully extended. Bilstein includes all necessary installation instruction and hardware.

2019 Ford Ranger
I bought these shocks to replace the OEM shocks and struts on my new Ranger. I love my Ranger except the sea sick inspiring suspension. My truck would literally rock back and forth when you come to a stop. The OEM shocks are seriously under damped. The Bilsteins are a marked improvement for ride quality and handling while maintaining a smooth and comfortable ride.

Got the four corners done. No more swaying after a stop or a bump in the road. The suspension feels more responsive and less all over the place. Ford stock shocks and struts are garbage. The leveling looks great. No more rake. GET THESE!!

2019 Ranger 2WD
After shopping around for a few different options to level out the Ranger I settled on the Bilstein 5100 kit. It was Jason's review of his Toyota 4 Runner that sold me on it. His review held spot on for the Ranger. With how splashy the suspension is on the Ranger from factory I was motivated to fix that not just get some ground clearance. It worked like a dream. My wife who doesn't care much for vehicle tuning noticed right away. Frankly it feel luxurious. Would recommend to anyone looking for stance/clearance/leveling and agrees the stock suspension is too splashy.

Wow, what a difference! I don’t have to take seasick meds anymore! Fx 4 shocks like an old caddy. Bilstein 5100’s controlled ride like a 4wd should feel. Best mod you can do for your ranger. Put preload/lift at 1.8 in. 265/65-18 wild peaks on and it lifted the truck .5 in more. No nightmare rubbing issues!

Shock work perfectly. Create a great ride and level lifted to just the right height. 1.8 setting did a 2.5 level on mine. Had 3” of rake before and 1/2” after installing. So much more fun to drive now.

Very Happy! The single best thing I’ve done to my Ranger. The front adjustment is great as I did not want to go to high. Also the price was right through Stage3. The ride compared to the stock Ford shocks was much better. It’s my every day car but here on the edge of NYC. Every day is an off road experience. I would highly recommend these to anyone.

2021 Ford Ranger Lariat
The Bilstein 5100 kit for the Ford Ranger is a solid upgrade. And for the price, you really can not beat it. Leveled the truck out perfectly giving me the stance I wanted matched with some Falken 265/70-18 WildPeak M/T and Method 308s. The truck handles better all around. The wallowy feel is gone and it feels nicely planted and sharp without being harsh. It drives like a properly setup truck not a heavy car. Did I mention the stance. :)

Like most I purchased these shocks because the OEM FX4 shocks make you feel like you're riding a bucking bronco, even with 300 lb in the back. I had these set to the 1.2 inch slot because I didn't want a reverse rake. They've smooth the ride out and the truck doesn't Rock anymore, however on rough roads they're a little bit on the harsh side, but still better than OEM. They were a less expensive alternative to some of the others, and supposedly have limited off-road capability which is fine for me as my vehicle is a pavement princess mostly anyhow.

2019 Ford Ranger 4X2 Lariat
The Bilstein 5100's greatly improved the ride quality over the factory shocks. I am completely satisfied with their craftsmanship and performance. I went with the second ring clip for a .6" lift in the front because the weight of all my tools in the bed dropped the rear height by more than 2". If you are running a less loaded bed, 1.8" or 2.4" would level out the front. The only negative was that I placed the order in July and didn't receive the them until January. So, unless something in the supply chain has changed, prepare to wait.

2020 Ford Ranger FX2
I was familiar with the Bilstein 5100 shocks from my 2006 F150 and the great ride they give. I just installed (DIY) the Bilstein 5100 shocks on my 2020 Ranger FX2 and the results are awesome. I put the front shock clip on the 4th slot which is a 2" lift. This lift was perfect and the truck sits just right. I did not want to install larger tires and this lift looks great with the stock 31" tires. The FX2 and FX4 has "tuned shocks" but they are not even close to the Bilstein 5100 dampening. The ride is firm but not harsh with no more bouncing. Very pleased. For the money and performance, the Bilstein 5100 system is hard to beat. Great value. Stage 3 Motorsports had the rear shocks on backorder, but Lindsey kept me posted on the delivery dates and I received them in early January. Great service from S3M.

This is a great upgrade over the pathetic stock FX4 suspension. Especially the rear shocks. Really Ford? Those things were border line unsafe with a complete lack of rebound damping. If you have the ability to DIY, these are a very cheap and very great upgrade.

My wife didn't care for my last truck because of the ride.. This one started off about the same way. This has become our preferred ride so I read all the reviews on the Bilstein's, bought the kit. She noticed the difference in the ride right away. Especially when I missed a speed bump.. So, home run for Stage3.

You do reuse some of your factory components this kit. So with the parts you pull from your factory strut, and what Bilstein includes, you would have everything needed for install.

Do these eliminate the need for the spacer? Seems like a stupid question since they are stated to be adjustable. Just want to make sure everything is here to level my 2020 4wd Ranger.
Asked by:
James
- 7/12/2024
The front struts included in this kit can add up to 2.5" of lift by themselves depending on which height notch option you choose when building them.

I have a 23 RWD FX2. I realize that the lift comes from preloading the spring, and claims have been made that the 2WD trucks lift a little higher than the advertised settings. (Assuming due to lack of transfer case weight) Does that still ring true if set at the “factory height”, or is the difference only seen once the OEM spring is preloaded? Thank you
Asked by:
Juggernaut
- 6/23/2024
With this kit using your existing springs, there will be no difference in lift height. The only time differences in height become an issue due to weight, is if you are using a kit that has replacement springs like the Bilstein 6112, Fox, or Eibach coilover kits.

if i was to put this on my 2022 4x4 ranger at the highest and second highest lift what size tire could i run with stock wheel? i will be using my stock spring btw. thank you
Asked by:
Michael
- 2/7/2023
With the factory wheels, you're limited by tire width, since you have to avoid contact with the spindle, so you have to stay under 285 wide. The biggest tire we recommend with factory wheels is a 275/70R17 or a 275/65R18 depending on your factory wheel diameter. Either size will fit at both the max 2.5" and slightly lower 1.8" ride height setting.

I just got this kit for my 2021 2wd ranger. I was considering getting the eibach springs to swap the stock coil overs and avoid any stiffness from preloading stocks. Would I require a new uca as well? Could you also provide the link to the compatible eibach springs please? Thank you.
Asked by:
Chris
- 12/4/2022
At the 3" of height over stock provided by the Eibach Springs, we generally do recommend getting aftermarket UCAs, especially if you're going to be using your truck off-road at all.
The Eibach Springs for RWD Rangers are here

Would the add a leaf pack available on this website be enough to level the rear with these added? The add a leafs say they give an extra inch.
Asked by:
Zach
- 10/6/2022
In general, it takes a bit more than 2.5" of front leveling to get the Rangers to a "dead-level" stance, and adding an add-a-leaf will give you back rake.

Can I set the 5100’s at factory height and add a faction fab 2.5 spacer on top then adjust the clip on the strut to actually get it level? I have a ranch hand brush guard and I’m afraid that the extra weight from the guard will still be nose down.
Asked by:
Mike
- 8/8/2022
You could potentially do it. Just keep in mind that the Bilstein front strut assemblies only have ride height settings for 0.6", 1.2", 1.8", and 2.5" and we only really recommend using a maximum of the 0.6" setting in conjunction with a 2.5" spacer.

I’ve read it’s recommended to get new hardware, nuts and bolts, as they are one time use. Does this kit come with new hardware or do I need to purchase new hardware? If new hardware is needed, do you sell the necessary hardware? Oh, for front and rear. Thanks
Asked by:
John
- 6/15/2022
This kit only comes with new bolts for the front struts bar pin mounts. The kit does not include new bolts or nuts for the tie rods, CVs, UCAs, or rear shocks. We do not offer a hardware kit.

The Bilstein 5100s will fit a 2021 Ranger XLT with an FX4 package without issues. The slots in the Bilstein 5100s have ride height settings for 0", .6", 1.2", 1.8", and 2.5" of ride height. While there's not a 2" lift setting, the 1.8" setting will get you close.

how big of tires would you recommend with this bilstein kit?
Asked by:
Reese
- 1/30/2022
That depends entirely on what wheels you're using, specifically their widths, offsets, and backspacing. In general, you can probably use something like a 32x11" tire if you want to avoid all chances of trimming, but your best bet would be to call us directly at 623-434-5277 or email us at

I have these installed on my 2019 Ford Ranger FX4 and am considering replacing the stock rear leaf springs with an OME rear leaf kit(probably 1.7”). Will these work with that kit?
Asked by:
Lenny
- 10/10/2021
The rear shocks in this kit are only rated for 1" of rear lift, and the Old Man Emu leaf springs add too much height and will likely overextend the Bilstein 5100 shocks.

What eibach springs can use with these shocks?
Asked by:
Frankie
- 7/2/2021
You can use the
2019-2021 Ranger Pro-Lift Springs
, though you will need to set the Bilstein 5100s at their lowest ride height setting, if you're going to use the Eibach springs.

Hi, was wondering how the ride of the bilsteins compare to the eibach pro-truck struts/shocks. Thanks.
Asked by:
Caleb
- 5/17/2021
Overall ride is more or less the same given you set them both at the same ride heights. The Eibachs can go a little higher, so if you are going to run them at 3", you may be a bit stiffer than an equivalent Bilstein at their max 2.5" ride height due to spring preload differences.

Does this come with everything needed to install or I will I need to get other parts?
Asked by:
TAYLOR
- 5/7/2021
The rear shocks install using the factory hardware. The front strut assemblies require you to transfer over your factory spring, upper mount, lower spring perch, and isolators before using a combination of new and stock hardware to reinstall them onto your F150.

At Circlip position #4 the hight adjustment is 1.8". So with the added 1" in for the rear shocks, would we anticipate a nose up and rear drop when towing a work or small travel trailer with load dispersion? Should I just got to #5 for the 2.5" max?
Asked by:
Dale Baker
- 3/26/2021
The rear shocks on their own do not add any lift. They can potentially HANDLE up to 1" of lift if you want to add a 1" rear block or 1" shackle. As far as your rear sag, a lot also depends on the weight of the trailer, how much tongue weight you're running, hitch setup, etc. Your best bet would be to figure out what kind of rake you currently have with your trailer or give us a call directly at 623-434-5277 or email us at

I've already had the RoughCountry spacer installed to level the front but the stock ride is swimmy. Whats the best / economical way to address this? Can I set the front at zero and leave the spacer or do I need to disassemble the front end and remove the spacer and just use this leveling kit? In the end I'm looking to stay level but correct the poor ride quality
Asked by:
Greg
- 2/28/2021
You can install this kit with Rough Country's leveling spacers, if you set the front strut assemblies at a 0" factory ride height. You would arguably get better ride quality that way, since there's less preload on the spring than using the Bilsteins at their maximum ride height setting and getting rid of your spacer. You could go either way, however.

It appears that this kit is for 4wd Rangers. I was wondering if this kit would work on a 2020 FX2 Ranger (4 x 2).
Asked by:
Jose
- 2/24/2021
This kit will fit an RWD Ranger. The only potential issue is that the RWD trucks will get slightly more ride height out of the front struts than what they're rated for on the 4WD trucks, which could be a good or a bad thing depending on what you're doing.

Hey guys. If I level my Ranger 2.5 to 3 inches, would I need a block? I don't really tow anything.
Asked by:
Dan
- 1/1/2021
That depends entirely on what kind of stance you're looking for. In general, it takes about 3" of front leveling to get the Rangers to a "dead-level" stance. However, if you do put any amount of weight in the bed, you could sit nose-high, regardless of whether you're towing or not. While you don't "need" a rear block by any means, it can be a good idea, depending on what you're doing.

We recommend an alignment after any amount of leveling, mostly to correct toe angle and prevent excessive or weird tire wear.

I have a Ford Ranger 2020 XLT 2WD Diesel (overseas). I want to improve the rake at around 1" to 1.5" in the front and improve road ride and handling. I posted a question about the Eibach complete pro-truck sport shock & strut kit if it would fit a 2WD ranger awhile ago. similar to that question, would this fit better with no modifications needed?
Asked by:
BryanDC
- 12/1/2020
From our understanding, this kit will bolt up just fine to your truck. However, we can't guarantee how much ride height you'll get. While the RWD USDM Rangers tend to get a smidge more lift out of this kit than what it's rated for on the 4WD USDM Rangers, the EU/AUS/etc. diesel Rangers have a higher base curb rate than the gas EcoBoost Rangers, so you'll get less ride height than what an equivalent RWD US Ranger nominally would. Personally, I think you can get the 1" to 1.5" leveling pretty easily, you'd just have to play with the preload settings to see where your truck ends up.

How do these compare to the Eibachs front and rear for on-road use primarily?
Asked by:
Jeff from Washington
- 11/25/2020
There's really not much of a difference, honestly. The Eibachs have a slight advantage in that they are can level a bit higher than the Bilsteins, but both the 5100s and the Pro-Trucks feature very similar designs. Your decision will primarily be on availability, if you're not concerned about maxing your ride height.

Will the ride quality be worse if I use the max 2.5 inch setting, or would you recommend using a lower setting?
Asked by:
Dalton
- 11/11/2020
Since the ride height settings work off of preload, the higher you go, the stiffer your ride tends to get. We have not tried this kit ourselves yet, so it's hard to say how stiff ride quality will actually be. Considering how wallowy the stock suspension tends to be, a little stiffness is probably not a bad thing, but if you want the smoothest ride quality possible, you may want to use a lower ride height setting.

Why does the description say “Up to 2.75” of lift” on the Bilstein Shocks, but then you guys answered up to 2” when asked. If I purchase these Shocks, and use my factory springs, will I get 2.75”?
Asked by:
J.N
- 11/2/2020
The strut assemblies on this kit have a maximum ride height setting of 2.5" on the 4WD trucks. Since these struts fit both RWD and 4WD trucks, you can see slightly more lift on the RWD trucks. The ride height settings for the 4WD trucks are 0", .6", 1.2", 1.8", and 2.5".

Can these bolt onto the 2WD? Will a rear spacer be needed?
Asked by:
Scott
- 10/27/2020
This kit will bolt up to an RWD truck without issues. Your only potential "problem" is that you'll get a little more ride height out of the front assemblies than what they're rated for on the 4WD Rangers. A larger rear block is not required.

In what position do you mount the rear shock? Boot up, or boot down?
Asked by:
DJ
- 10/5/2020
Since the rear shocks are a monotube design, it actually doesn't matter and you can mount them in either orientation. We generally recommend a barrel-up, boot-down orientation to help prevent the body getting punctured, but it's up to your personal preference.

Are the Bilstein struts and shocks good for a daily driver? Would they improve the handling without being too stiff?
Asked by:
Jeff from Denver
- 9/16/2020
The Bilstein 5100s tend to be a great choice for a daily street-driven truck, though they can also handle light off-roading adequately. They provide just enough control and stability without being overly stiff.

Are the struts preset at 2” of lift from the factory? Does 2” level off the Ranger?
Asked by:
Jeff in Denver
- 9/15/2020
The front strut assemblies are not "preset" at all. They come bare and you will get to choose your truck's ride height using the C-clip and your truck's factory spring mount and lower. You'll also transfer over the stock upper mount and isolator. 2" of lift does not tend to level these trucks and will leave a bit of rake. In general, it takes about 3" of front leveling to get these trucks to a "dead-level" stance, though you may want to keep some rake if you're towing and hauling on the regular.

What coilsprings are recommended with this kit? Can stock springs be used and still achieve 2" lift?
Asked by:
drewestate
- 8/12/2020
The factory spring is the only spring that's confirmed to work with the 5100s. We have not confirmed whether Eibach's or ARB's springs will work on the 5100s. The front struts are rated for up to 2" of lift with the stock springs.
