The 2010 to 2014 SVT Raptors are some of the baddest trucks on the road, and they come equipped with three amber grille lights to set them apart from the rest of the F150s out on the road. While a 2004 to 2008 F150 will probably never look exactly like a Raptor, you can at least get those pretty slick grille lights with our 2004 to 2008 F150 Raptor-Style Grille Light Kit. Since we were going for a pretty aggressive look on our 2007 F150 5.4L Project Truck, these grille lights made for a perfect upgrade. Overall install is extremely easy with just a little splicing thrown in. The good news is that the grille light kit comes with more than enough wiring to get the job done. In the end, we were very pleased with the install and the final look.
Just like all of our installs here at Stage 3, we grabbed our cameras, grille light kit, and a bunch of other gear we were going to install and headed down to Extreme Performance out in Goodyear, Arizona, to get some assistance from Jay in getting our Raptor-Style Grille Light Kit installed and running. We arrived, pulled into the garage, and Jay got right to work.
Step one was to get the bracket with its built-in LEDs mounted behind the grille. The grille light simply bolts into the grille mount supports using the factory bolts. Jay pulled those bolts and then put the grille lights in place, but only reinstalled the bolts to finger tightness.
There is some wiggle-room built into the bracket, so Jay took a minute to make sure it was lined up properly with the front of our truck before tightening the bolts down.
Jay then connected the wiring to the integrated harness on the bracket and started to run it all down to our truck's passenger side parking light for power.
Jay zip-tied the wiring around the hood hinge before ducking it underneath the fender trim.
With the wiring routed, Jay popped out our passenger side headlight (which we had left unbolted from our earlier Recon Projector Headlight Install) in order to get to the parking light wiring.
Jay the got to the actual wiring. In general, you'd just tie the grille lights into your factory parking lights, but our situation was a little more complicated due to the fact that the halos and LEDs from our headlight were also tied into our parking lights. So, first Jay combined the harness for the grille lights with our headlight's accent lights and then soldered them in with the parking light wiring.
Once the wiring was successfully tied in, Jay took some time to clean up his wiring and wrap it with electrical tape.
With the lights wired in, bolted up, and working, our install was complete.
