The 2014 F150 5.0L and 6.2L trucks rolled into harbor almost totally unchanged as far as their body, frame, and powertrain were concerned. Yes, there were a couple of different paint color options, but with a total generational redesign right around the corner with the 2015 F150s, Ford, for the most part, left the 2014 F150s alone. That meant the 5.0L Coyote V8 and 6.2L Boss V8 both returned in all their glory, keeping big, high-displacement V8s in Ford's pickups for another year. It's a combination that's difficult to argue against, and both the 5.0L and the 6.2L V8-powered F150s make for excellent platforms for performance in just about any application that you see fit. There was, however, one small change to the suspension system of the 2014 F150s that had a huge impact on the fitment of aftermarket parts. For whatever reason, our overlords at FoMoCo changed the front strut mount on the lower control arm from a standard clevis mount that had been in use since 2004 (THAT NOBODY EVER COMPLAINED ABOUT, EVER), to a par-and-pin mount. While this was a small change for the truck, what it means for you is that 2014 F150s require 2014 model year specific front struts, coilover upgrades, lift kits, and other front suspension hardware. The good news is that many of our manufacturers have stepped up to the plate with new suspension parts that work specifically with the 2014 F150s, but the bad news is that your options are a bit more limited than the folks with 2009 to 2013 F150s. Why did Ford do this? Someone over there is nourished by our weeping.
