What are the F150 Fox 2.0s?

The F150 Fox 2.0 coilovers and F150 Fox 2.0 rear shocks are some of the most popular suspension upgrades on the market for the F150 trucks. They offer better performance and handling than spacer leveling kits and most leveled struts, but they keep a softer and smoother street ride than 2.5 coilovers. Both the coilovers and the shocks are built around 2" diameter shock bodies made out of aluminum which dissipates heat much more effectively than steel-bodied shock bodies. The Fox 2.0s feature a gas-charged, monotube internal design with linear valving that provides excellent damping without compromising your F150's ride quality. The F150 Fox 2.0 Front Coilovers come with an Eibach ERS coil spring add up to 2" of ride height using a threaded preload adjuster under the lower spring perch. The rear shocks can handle an additional inch of rear lift over stock, letting you add a slightly bigger rear block to your F150 build.

2021-2022 F150 Fox 2.0 Pros

The main benefit of the 2021-2022 F150 Fox 2.0s is that they offer an awesome improvement in handling over the stock coilover assemblies and the stock rear shocks. The OEM rear shocks are especially notorious for creating a bouncy and jouncy ride in the rear end, and the Fox 2.0s clean that up instantly. The F150 Fox 2.0 rear shocks handle the articulation of the axle and against the lightweight bed, which cleans up the handling over bumps on the road. The front coilovers clean up front body roll and better absorb harsh impacts off-road than the stock coilovers. The extra 2" of ride height from the F150 Fox 2.0 coilovers allows you to clear bigger tires and reduces the stock rake for a cleaner look. While the Fox 2.0s do improve performance, they also ride extremely clean with only a hint of extra stiffness on the street.

2021-2022 F150 Fox 2.0 Pros:
  • Better on-road handling than stock
  • Less rear-end bounce and jounce over bumps
  • Reduced front body roll
  • Add up to 2" of front ridge height
  • Greatly improved off-road performance over stock
  • Maintain a great street ride

2021-2022 F150 Fox 2.0 Cons

Like anything, there are a couple of downsides to the F150 Fox 2.0 coilovers and F150 Fox 2.0 rear shocks. While they are a very balanced suspension option, that does mean that they don't outright excel at specifics. While the Fox 2.0s do offer a pretty smooth ride for an aftermarket suspension, they are slightly stiffer than stock. We would argue this extra stiffness is actually a good thing (especially when it comes to controlling body roll), but if you value the factory softness, then the Fox 2.0s may not be for you. On the opposite end of the spectrum, if you're looking to bomb down desert trails at 65mph, the Fox 2.0s will not have enough damping or heat dissipation to help you out, and you should really jump into a set of 2.5 coilovers (along with a crapload of other suspension upgrades). When it comes to leveling, the 2" of front ride height provided by the Fox 2.0s doesn't get your F150 a "dead-level" stance, and will still leave you with a noticeable amount of rake. The 1" of extra rear ride height that the Fox 2.0 rear shocks isn't exactly a lot, and 3" rear blocks, 1.5" add-a-leafs, and +2" leaf packs will be out of reach.

2021-2022 F150 Fox 2.0 Cons:
  • Slightly stiffer on-road ride than stock
  • Not as high-performance off-road as 2.5s
  • 2" of leveling still leaves rake
  • The rear shocks' ride height capability limits you

Final Thoughts on the Fox 2.0s

In the end, the F150 Fox 2.0 Stage 1 Package represents one heck of a bang-for-your buck suspension option. The combination of handling and off-road performance with a great street ride means that they're not likely to disappoint anyone who's primarily on the street, but heads off the beaten path on the regular. While they may not be the softest-riding F150 suspension parts or the highest-performing off-road components, they're still an excellent choice for the vast majority of F150 owners out there.
