Easy install and good fit. I did have to refer to a video on YouTube for the correct wiring however. Black goes to OEM black, white to OEM white and red to OEM red. The blue stripe wire is not used. Hope this is helpful!! GREAT PRODUCT

I was little on the fence buying this, but very glad I did. Budget be damned! By the time I found my Phillips head, unpackaged the light, and a new package of silicon, oh, and had to find some scissors to cut the silicon applicator, I had about 30 minutes total for the install. As most have said, you have to cut, splice, tape, crimp, solder, yada yada. I used three of these little gems on Amazon: They don't allow links on here, so go to Amazon and search Non-stripped Wire Connectors for Cable, Wire Joint without Stripping and Soldering, Suitable for Various Wires, Splitting T Type 1 Pin, Pack of 10 Cost about $6 for a 10 pack with Prime shipping. These let you tee off right before the light socket and joins to the wires of your new light. Just put in the wires and squeeze. That's it! If you are feeling a little weak that day and your squeezing power is low, grab some pliers like I did! If you love these as much as I do, you'll name your next child after me! Seriously, they should offer these at Stage 3, or Recon should put some in the box. If you ever need to go back to stock, you'll still have your stock light sockets fully functional, and re-coupe your expensive light to sell, or move to another F150. Now my opinion on the light itself. I looooooove it! As some have said, the cargo lighting isn't great. Well, that is true, but in the dark it's better than nothing. The stock one wasn't that stupendous anyway. If you really want your bed lit up, invest in a LED bed lighting kit. It's on my truck todo list. Most of us that bought this light, bought it mainly because it looks badass! It does just that, especially on my black truck. I even got a friendly toot toot of a train horn from a lifted Chevy on the road. I'm sure that was train-speak for Hey man, badass truck!. Man, now I need a train horn.....

Fit good. The foam seal is much harder then the factory one so it sits a little higher off of the cab sheet metal surface. Hardly notaceable. Snug the bolts a week later after the foam seal settles.

Very easy install! Literally took 10 minutes. For those first time modders that might be nervous about cutting the factory wires, my truck did not have a white wire - I had red, black and blue. Still connect red to red and black to black and just connect the blue factory wire to the white wire for the light. And as stated before, I would strongly recommend shrink wraps to put around the connections. Good luck!!

Shipping took about a week which wasn't that bad. The install took maybe 10 min, super easy! The fit on this is why I gave it 2 stars. There is a small gap between the light and the truck. I don't know if the gasket was to big, or what. It's supposed to rain today so hopefully it doesnt leak! I'm going to look into using the old gasket from my stock light, or get some silicon. For $84 you would think they would make it fit flush!

Stock third brake light was leaking. I tried to clean it and use Butyl tape to seal it up. While cleaning the chrome inside the light flaked off and glittered the red brake area of the light. It sealed fine but looked like garbage. New OEM light was around $120. This light looks better. I already had LEDS and these are just as good. I used wire taps and folded the wire from the Recon light to ensure connection. Took all of 10 minutes to swap out. So far no leaks and it looks/functions well.

Cool addition to my truck. The smoked lens blends in well with my black truck. Installing the light was easy enough, as mentioned though, it would be great if it came with some shrink wrap since you have to splice some wires. I ordered this light because my stock 3rd brake light assembly cracked. This light was less expensive than a stock replacement from the dealership (and looks better, in my opinion)!

Recon has really done it, they charge a premium price for a 'made in china' quality product. The circuit board is cheap, and the LEDs used are unimpressive to say the least. Ironically, on the box it states No Splicing Plugs into factory connectors , neither of which is true for the F150 application. All that being said, it sure looks a lot better than the factory chrome/red unit on my Green Gem paint.

Item was shipped fast and I was able to install it within 10 minutes. If you have a raptor, pay attention to the instructions as the wiring is backwards and not obvious or laid out in a practical way. Things you will need: wire strippers, shrink wrap, heat gun and either a ferrel or some type of simple air tight insulator to go over the bare wires. If I remember correctly, the wires are 20 guage, so simply take wire strippers and score the wire with the 22 guage part about 1/8"-1/4" and strip with 20 guage section, then trim as needed. On the truck side, remove power, then cut wires leading to bulb housing and attach them to new LED housing in accordance with the sheet provided by Stage 3 Motorsports. Turn your vehicle on and if you see the white LEDs come on, you installed it correctly! Thanks S3M!

So I purchased the Recon 3rd Brake Light on Monday; it arrived Tuesday and I installed it myself on Wednesday. The light looks great and the LEDs are def better than the OEM fixture. However, the install was a nightmare. If you have a 2010-2012 raptor, you gotta make sure you read the instructions completely and look up additional instructions online on one of the many Raptor specific forums. Splicing the wires is important, but more important is where you splice them. Cut the OEM bulb wires completely as they are not needed. As others have noted, the Recon is NOT flush with the OEM fixture point, BUT its not a huge deal. It sits nicely and honestly unless you know what to look for, no one will notice.

Customer Question What gauge is the wiring on the light?

Asked by: JD - 4/3/2024
Customer Answer Recon does not list the wiring gauge in any of their spec sheets so we would not have that exact information. Having installed these lights on past project vehicles, the wiring does match the factory wiring gauge.

Customer Question I was looking at replacing my third brake light on my 2010 6.2L because I am getting that "descent control fault" error on my dash. My stock light has some water settling at the bottom of it which may be the problem. From what I researched online it is tied to moisture getting in the third brake light. If I buy this light is this going to affect any electronics that would make my problem worse. thanks

Asked by: Kevin - 2/18/2019
Customer Answer With proper wiring according to Recon's instructions, you won't be making your problem worse. While your stock third brake light is out, you may want to check the third brake light wiring, as that can become frayed and cause shorts.

Customer Question Should the white lights come on in reverse as well as the red? My whites are only coming on in park

Asked by: AuHornet - 12/3/2014
Customer Answer No. The third brake light doesn't have reverse light functionality. The white lights are courtesy lights only.

Customer Question I had this brake light installed and with the truck lights on or in the auto mode the two white bulbs remain on at all times. The red light can be seen in between both white lights when pressing on the brakes. Is it correct that the white bulbs on both sides of the light remain on all of the time ? When the vehicle is either parked or in motion ? Thanks

Asked by: Rich - 11/5/2014
Customer Answer That actually does not sound correct. Either there was an error in your wiring, a short somewhere, or a flaw in the light. Your best bet is to call us directly at 1-877-578-2433 for further help and suggestions. Those white lights should only function as parking lights and reverse lights.
