The install was horrible, it was hitting the tailgate when u open and close it. Had to keep taking the tailgate on and off to adjust the hinges and still hits alittle and then after all that, one of the LEDs were out and tailgate is way up on the one side so I'm ready to take it off and throw it the trash. I am very disappointed in the light,fitment. Would not buy another recon tailgate light bar.

Light worked great for about 4 months. After the 90-day warranty expired we were at a drive in movie, sitting behind my truck (with the keys in my pocket) when it just decided to light up (red and white both), and would not turn off until I pulled power. Apparently the controller fried, as it has not worked properly since. When reconnected it will randomly flash red, white and amber, sometimes all at the same time. Definitely not a fan of this, and I can see why they only put a 90 day warranty on them.

Customer Question what are the red and white wires for.??

Customer Answer The red wire is for tying the light bar into a 12V constant source, while the white wire is for tying the bar into your truck's turn signals.

Customer Question What modifications have to be made if you have the tailgate assist on a 2016 F150 to make this light bar work?

Customer Answer You would need to cut off the connector the light bar uses for your trailer harness connector and hardwire its wiring into the trailer wiring, while also running power to a constant 12V source. It's not overly difficult, but it is tedious and you'll need a good diagram of the trailer wiring/pins.

Customer Question I've heard of problems other people had when plugging into the trailer 4 prong plug, it convinces the truck that you're towing/connected to a trailer and disables the rear viewing camera/park assist? is that true for this one as well?

Customer Answer That is correct and is a side effect of using the trailer plug. That being said, you can avoid the issues if you do some clever custom wiring.

Customer Question Will this fit on a 2007 F150 styleside? I tried rampage and I ran into a problem with the tailgate prong and it would not fit

Customer Answer That would really depend on the size of the Rampage bar you tried to install. While I haven't heard of anyone having issues with Recon's 60" bar, there might be a possibility. Regardless, your best bet would be to call us directly at 1-877-578-2433 so we can get more specific about the issue you had, and possibly look into getting you one of Recon's 49" tailgate bars instead.

Customer Question With this light bar and using the 3 prong plugin how do you use the plugin for trailers?

Customer Answer Unless you want to get really creative with your wiring, you'd need to unplug it from the trailer connector when it comes time to tow.

Customer Question What are the dimensions of the light. I'm installing it In a custome built bed and need to know how wide it is. 60"x?x?

Customer Answer I measured the bar installed on our truck, so take these a pretty rough, but I go 60" Long x 7/8" Deep x 1-1/8" tall. The height measurement included the tallest point of the mounting surface, which is flat. The LED strip itself is only around 1/2" to 3/4" tall.
