2015-2020 F150 2.7L EcoBoost Bully Dog BDX Tuner & 5-Star Custom Tunes 40470

My vehicle has 265/70r17 BF Goodrich Rugged T/A all terrain tires, K&N cold air intake, Cat-back 4 exhaust with 5 tip and Bully Dog BDX Tuner. I have the 93 performance tune, 87 performance/tow tune and 87 eco tune. I have used all three tunes. I only ran the 93 tune on one tank of fuel. I found myself stomping on the gas pedal all the time. 87 Eco tune is the mildest tune and gives the best mpg's. I am drawn to use the 87 performance/tow tune the most because of the power delivery, transmission shift points and mpg. I am able to get around 22-24 on highway, speeds up to or around 70mph(some hills and flats combined). The 87 Eco tune is definitely the best tune for mpg's as I stated above, however, it's not any fun when you want to stomp the gas pedal to the floor. The turbo lag that you have stock is gone with the 87 Performance/tow tune. Considering all of the mods I have done to this truck, I'm happy with the performance and mpg's I'm still able to get. I may go back to the stock 245/70R17 all season tires. This may lend a couple more mpg's to the equation. I haven't been able to tow with any of these tunes yet, so not able to comment on this topic. This truck is a ton more fun with all of these mods. I think it took me about 45 minutes to install the tuner initially. Now that its installed I'm able to change tunes in about 15 minutes. I do like the ease of the wifi download option on this tuner as well. I used my iPhone personal hotspot the first time I received all of my tunes from 5 Star Tunes, to transfer the tunes onto my tuner. It worked flawlessly. The Customer support at 5 Star Tunes was very helpful.

I had my tunes delivered by email. I had actually gotten a phone call from the tuner department one evening and he reviewed my request. I think I pressed the wrong octane (91) and in the description I said 89. I use 89. Being a computer nerd I decided to just go for it and use the device loader app and load the images myself, and not use the cloud. I did check the cloud delivery, but they weren't there, but I am sure that could have been setup if I pursued it with stage3. Anyways no matter what I did to adjust or how far I looked for patches that would make BullyDog device updater work on my windows 10 laptop. I think its now owned by another company called ... I forget. Anyways long story short I loaded a virtual instance of windows XP on VM workstation. And that worked. So if you can get the cloud option use that. You should probably specify that in the description. Now to the result. It is great. The power is markedly improved at the lower end. Even at 89 Octane. I have been carefully watching my gas mileage, and if anything I may have lost 1 mpg from 21.5 to 20.5 average, but also consider I have been driving in a way that would demand the extra juice. So no net penalty there and pure enjoyment gain, with a 340 +/- HP + 425 +/- Tq engine delivering its true potential. I am not worried about longevity because I figure the vehicle is designed to haul 7.6k and I just use it for commuting and light deliveries. I learned more about the truck, that it has adaptive transmission. I had been getting a more noticeable hard shift from 1-2. I didn't automatically assume it was the tune, and it wasn't. I installed Forscan, and in there you can reset the adaptive transmission. and lo and behold, smooth shifting once again. Also it even sounds better with stock air and exhaust. I am thinking about installing a throttle response kit too. Then it would bounce like my dad's 84 corvette. I also got the start-stop disabled in the tuner order. Over all it was a good purchase for $425.

Pretty good tuner kinda wish it came with a mount but other than that no problems and does everything you need it too

Tuner works great, but it did not come with the tunes I requested. It was like someone pulled it off a shelf and shipped it. I had to figure out how to add a tune.
