2004-2014 F150 & Raptor DeeZee Tailgate Assist 43200

Just installed this kit on my 2011. Install was quick and simple. Just follow the instructions and you should be golden. The strut that came with my kit does make some noise when the tailgate is being lowered, which is a non-issue for me but others may not like it.... You might notice a slight increase in resistance when you lift your tailgate, this is because of the strut. I did have one problem though, the nutsert tool that came in my kit was not working properly during the initial installation. If you have an issue where the back side(the part that stays in the tailgate) does not tighten, but spins when you tighten the tool.. there is a quick fix. I called DeeZee and the rep told me they know of this issue and recommend using WD-40 on the bearings, and apply some of the included locktite to the nutsert tool. So... Step 1: Adjust the nutsert tool to 3/4in. like the instructions specify Step 2: Spin the nut down onto the washer, just tight enough to keep everything from spinning on its own(this step may not be needed, but it's what I did....) Step 3: Add WD-40 to the bearings. Just spray between the washers. Step 4: Turn the tool onto its head, threads up. And place it on a table... Step 5: Add the included locktite to the threads. Let it sit for a few minutes so the locktite can set up( I waited 15).. a few drops should do you fine. Now try to continue with the installation. My tool still spun at first, but after a few turns of the wrench, the nutsert bit down and did what it was supposed to do. From here I was good to go, and the install took 5-10 minutes.

This is a great product, and it was easy to install after reading the other review posted here. The nutsert piece was problematic in that it would not tighten up. I put a couple of drops of the locktite that came with it to the threads at the end of the nutsert. I let it setup for about 3-5 minutes. It went without a problem. I have shown this to friends of mine who are going to order one for themselves. Stage3 has great service and super shipping.

This is one of those things that make me ask WHY doesn't the truck come with it from the factory. 5 minute install and the tail gate comes down easy. I installed this and the Pop & Lock PL8250 at the same time and now I am happy.

Just like what many of the other reviewers have already stated, this product is something that should have been available from the factory. Of course, you know that if it was you would never get it for the steal of a price that you pay for it here. This was one of the easiest installations I have ever done; my nutsert tool worked exactly as described in the instructions, much to my surprise. I thought for sure mine would spin, as these type of things that seem too good to be true usually are. However, I had this installed in less than 20 minutes. In cold weather, it does operate a lot slower, but then again, mine is still quite new. It also makes some noise when lowering but that doesn't bother me. I don't notice any extra difficulty putting the tailgate back up. You probably won't find such a brilliant upgrade for your F-150 at as low a price as this. Stop thinking, just get it now.

Easy install as indicated by the first two reviewers - 10 minutes. There can be a problem in that the nutsert itself will spin on the bolt when you start to turn. Holding the nutsert with a vicegrip and turning the turn-in nut a turn or so will allow the nutsert to 'hold' on to the tailgate opening enough to finish the installation. I used WD40 and added two washers as spacers to the bottom ball nut to give the truck cable a bit more room so it does not chafe. Good for the price.

Like all the reviews, should have come from the factory, install is easy, follow directions, I did have to use a needle nose vise grip to expand the nutsert, but no big deal. It does work after install as advertised.. 4 out of 5 for having to hold the nutsert from spinning

Best cluck for the buck! Why Ford or other manufactures fail to install a tailgate shock like this little item on every truck is beyond me. But then again, I wouldn't be writing about it. Super easy to install!!

Install was easy. It took about 10 minutes. Great addition to my truck. Tailgate lowers safely. Get one!

Great product, very easy to install. Follow the directions and you should be all set. I did not have any issues using the nutsert tool. This will be great to lower the gate when my hands are full.

Easy install and well worth it

Installation is super easy, and took about ten minutes. No more slamming tailgate, best 30$ spent in a very long time!

This makes it super easy when your hands are full to be able to just pull the handle and step back and let it drop slowly instead of slamming down. Also very helpful with the kids being able to open the tailgate without having the full weight of the tailgate coming down on them. i would definitely recommend this product.

It works great and was really easy to install. The only knock but I did not knock off a star was the tool (t-50) supplied to loosen the screw on the truck is worthless. I had to go get a T-50 socket because the one supplied does not allow you to get enough torque to loosen the screw so I had to buy a set.

This product is great. My last truck had one and when I bought my F-150 I wanted to get another. It kinda squeaks at first but it's getting broken in. It was also super easy to install. It took me about 20 minutes.

Awesome item, works great

It works. I pull my tailgate handle and let go, the tailgate slowly opens on its own until it fully extends down. Tailgate falls and rests open like it's weightless with no noise. Does not give extra resistance when putting tailgate up.

The DeeZee tailgate assist has made opening my tailgate so much easier to open. I bought another one for my mom. She is height challenged (she calls it 'funsized' but I'm not goin there) the tailgate was really awkward for her to open, and the tailgate assist has made it a lot more manageable for her. Thanks!!

This would have been a 5 star if the unit didn’t cause wear on the existing tailgate cable. Otherwise, it functions flawlessly and works exactly as expected and described. Put one on my F150 too!

I searched for an OEM product like this. There isn't one. They were not available on my model year truck yet. So I found this one. The install is super easy, quick and I absolutely love it. I'd you're interested in a tailgate assist, I highly recommend this one.

Easy install, less than 30 min. Great product and works very well. I can't tell a difference when closing the tail gate since installing, it is still easy to close.

I bought one as a Christmas gift for a friend and ended up getting one myself from a family member the same day. Once I figured out how the nutsert itself worked it was a very easy install. Took all of 10 minutes to get it hooked up. I didn't have any problems with the nutsert spinning or the bearings locking up as other reviews have stated. Just remember to mark the head so you can keep track of the number of turns you make to avoid over tightening. It's a great addition and not having the tailgate slam down then I'm trying to load things in is always a plus.

Why did I not purchase this sooner? Now there is no worrying about my tailgate coming down fast and hurting my 7 yr old when he decides he wants to try and climb into the bed. As stated in other reviews the nutsert free spun during install. I just had my wife hold it with a pair of needle nose while I screwed it in for the first few rotations and it went in smooth. Install took maybe 10 min. Thanks Stage3 for a great product at a great price.

Awesome product easy to install. Strut takes more time to lower in cold weather just FYI for owners who live where it gets below freezing. Didn't notice a resistance when putting the tailgate up. Works great!! Simple install with basic hand tools and included Torx tool. no hang ups at all. Just be sure to read instructions first and do NOT over tighten. Couldn't be happier 😃 Enjoy the look on your friends face when you simply let go of your tailgate while they have to granny theirs down on their 60k F-250... Whoa how come my truck don't have that!? Lol cheers guys!
