Much Easier and Safer Tailgate Operation

If there's one problem with the tailgate on the 2015 to 2022 F150s, its the weight, and not all of the 2015 and 2022 F150s came with self-lowering tailgates from the factory. The rear tailgate just isn't the lightest thing in the world and it wants to come crashing down every time you pop it open. The DeeZee tailgate assist fixes both issues, making opening your tailgate an absolute breeze. The DeeZee F150 tailgate assist system is a gas-charged strut assembly for your tailgate that slows the fall of your tailgate whenever you pop it open, bringing it to a slow steady stop without you needing to hold it.

Easy Installation

The kit includes (1) Tailgate Assist that installs on the driver side only. It's incredibly easy to install and allows you to retain your truck's factory tailgate cables. The DeeZee tailgate assist comes with all its necessary installation hardware and instructions.

Tailgate Fitment: 2015-2022 Ford F150 without factory self-lowering tailgates.

2015 Ford F150 XLT Sport

10 min installation, easily done, although not with tools that came with. Screws too tight to use the included tools, but I had the required tools on hand. Once installed, the device performed as intended and has stopped my kids from dropping the tailgate.

2020 Ford F-150

Product works perfectly on 2020 F150. This is something that should have come stock off the dealerships lot. It’s inexpensive and necessary.

2020 F-150 XLT Sport

Quick & easy installation. Perfect addition to every truck out there. This should really be a factory option. But then the manufacturers would charge an extra $80 for a $35 part.. so I guess it’s better we do it ourselves. Keep simple things like this coming!!

2018 F150

This is a great piece of hardware that I think is necessary for any new truck. I got the XLT versus the Lariat that comes with tailgate asst. This strut is good but takes about 60 seconds when cold to lower the tailgate. I tried another brand prior to this one but the tailgate wouldn't shut. This was easy to install and tailgate closes like it should.

This is a great addition. That tailgate is heavier than you think, and this simple gas strut helps control the drop so you're not taking all the weight yourself. I'm no weakling, but hey, anything to make my life easier. I also am most definitely NOT one of those people who doesn't care about their vehicle and just drops the tailgate. Also awesome, the packaging had an "easy open" rip tab on the back. We all know how annoying it can be to open this type of plastic packaging, so this was a welcome surprise.

Quick, easy installation and functions perfectly. Nice steady controlled lowering of the tailgate all the way to the stop. This is perfect when you have a load in your arms you can confidently just flip the release and the tail lowers safely.

Someone had wrote that the gate will drop when it comes close to the bottom. I bought and installed the Ford OEM part, $75+, it drops when it reaches the bottom. Save money and buy this instead.

Not without modifying the lower plate. The plate only has a single bolt hole, and is meant specifically for the driver's side of the truck.
