My ecobeast build
I started my build @ 2 months ago. First Gibson cat back 2.5 exhaust and AFE CAI. When ordering my Livewire for my F-150 the salesmen recommended the Bladerunner charge pipe. I was skeptical at first. Well I bolted it on today and all I can say is what a dramatic difference. I still have not uploaded my custom tunes yet, waiting to empty this tank of gas. Of all the bolt on products to date this Charge pipe is by far the best thing I have done. You can really feel the difference in power and the whole truck feels much smoother going thru the gears. Thanks Stage 3, you've got a customer for life. Now time to save $$$$ for a new intercooler!

My truck has AFE stage 2 CAI, AFE 4inch cat-back, SCT tuner with 93 octane, and kooks Y-pipe with high flow cats And I finally installed the AFE charge pipe and I must say I am VERY disappointed in the ingenuity and quality assurance, I had to clean the metal shaving and grease and dirt out of the pipe right out of the box, the product is fairly easy to install you don't even need to jack the truck up and my truck has a 2/3 drop, after installation I boost/leak tested the pipe and it had a small leak around the MAF sensor and sensor bolts after that was fixed the biggest difference I felt is it took the turbo/boost lag completely out, I would recommend this product as the last mod if you must have optimum performance!

I ordered and installed the aFe charge pipe, stage 2 cold air intake, and cover. The fit was ok and the total install took about 2.5hrs. I agree w/ the other reviews...the charge pipe does not seem line up very easily. I was so excited to take her for a spin after I finally got everything installed! My impression of thes bolt on mods- eh...the sound of the intake is nice and there may be a little more response when you hit the pedal, but don't expect anything drastic. Not bad for the money but at the end of the day these parts are really just part of a performance package. I'm hoping that when combined with exhaust & and tune it will result in noticeable gains and hopefully better gas mileage also. These are my future plans, so I'll keep you posted.

I didn't have a lift so it took a little longer to install but not bad. First test drive produced a loud whistle, which means a leak of course. I found the lower end mating to the intercooler was leaking I attempted to tighten but started to get fearful of over tightening and damaging the plastic flange. I still can't seem to get it airtight due to the lip on the flange. Anyone else have this? Anyhow it still increased my milage by 3 mpg with this and stage 2 intake and no tuning. Hopefully I can resolve the leak issue it's frustrating.

A word of caution for those with aftermarket CAC. I'm running the Wagner intercooler and with the slight change of exit of the driver's side piping, the Bladerunner was nearly impossible to install as is. The clearance provided no less than an inch and a half of pipe clearance which meant trying to push past the coupling piece was an exercise in futility. I also tried pushing the coupler all the way on the Bladerunner and then aligning it and pushing the coupler back down....still no joy. The only way I could install it was by removing the CAC completely and feeding the piece in before bolting the CAC back in. Was a huge pain in the ass, and because the clearance doesn't take advantage of the full length of the coupler, it is very hard to get a good seal on the provided clamps. I did end up having the same whistle that someone else reported and went back in and tightened down until it stopped moving. Overall, the quality of this product is excellent and I would certainly recommend this after seeing how many bends are in the OEM piece. Specifically, there is almost a 90 bend in one section that would certainly impede performance. But be prepared for a long install (and possibly needing an extra set of hands) if you are not running the OEM CAC. Will provide an update on if this results in any increased MPG or observable power. So far, nothing that I can tell.

For the price of this product I really wondered if it would be worth the money. When I took off the stock pipe I could see how it would be much better than the stock one because the bends in the pipe are much smoother and would help air flow much better than the stock one. (I always wondered why the manufactures would install such a worthless item) I do feel a difference in power and am happy with my purchase.

Put this on last night with the AFE dual filter CAI. This thing was kind of a beast to get on. Word of advice attach it up top first but leave it a little loose. Then connect it down below. Connect the rubber sleeve to the pipe first** then tighten to the intercooler. Mine blew off because I didn't tighten it enough when I installed it. The clamps on the intercooler have to be tightened all the way down fyi. I had some metal shavings on the inside of the tubing on the CAI but this one didn't have that issue. AFE could have done a better job designing the pipe so it lines up better, they overshot it by about 1/2 inch, not sure if this was done to accomodate after market parts etc but it's not a superb fit for the stock throttle body and CAC. Overall 3 stars based on almost $300 retail pricing should be a bit more refined. Also the metal AFE logo on the pipe is just a sticker and almost fell off while installing, should be spot welded to the pipe. All around I was expecting a bit more from AFE on their products.

I installed this along with the ATP intercooler, AFE cold air intake and BBK throttle body which made it easier because I had to pull everything ot anyway. I installed the charge pipe after I had the intercooler in. Everything fit perfect and the hardest part was connecting the charge pipe to the intercooler. I had to use a pick to guide the rubber around the intercooler flange. I could install it with the truck on the ground. This last of the install probably took about a half an hour with the removal of the stock charge pipe.

Customer Question This may be a beating a dead horse question, but will the Bladerunner Charge Pipe work with a Snow WMI plate? I see that there is compatibility issues with the AFE throttle plate but I’m not sure how thick the throttle plate is compared to the Snow injection plate.

Asked by: Trent Nabinger - 12/17/2019
Customer Answer Snow's plate should be fine. Even aFe's throttle body spacer can work with this charge pipe by using a different coupler. Snow's plate is actually thinner than the aFe throttle body spacer, so at the very worst you'd just need a different coupler.

Customer Question I see in the reviews that a lot of people talk about increased mileage. Did you guys actually have a tested vehicle for that to see what that might average out to be? Just curious.

Asked by: SixEighty680 - 8/30/2018
Customer Answer We have not. Personally, I would take some of the mileage claims with a grain of salt, since most folks install the charge pipe with other mods/tuning that effect mileage more than the charge pipe. That being said, you may see a slight bump in fuel economy, but it won't be super-dramatic.

Customer Answer Not really, given that the difference in temperature between the charge air coming from the intercooler and the front of the engine isn't as drastic as the heat given off by your average exhaust manifolds. You could technically do it, I'm just not sure you'd get much of a noticeable performance increase.

Is it possible to hook the meth injection up to this since this is not compatible with a Full Race TBS with ports?

Asked by: James - 6/23/2015
Customer Answer It does not come with a port for meth injection. Any charge pipe-side water-meth injection is a custom fabrication. The Full-Race throttle body spacer can "sort of" fit with this charge pipe, but fitment is extremely tight, and may require bending the charge pipe slightly or ordering different style couplers.

Customer Question can this be used with afe's throttle body spacer?

Asked by: Dagoberto Castillo Jr - 3/4/2015
Customer Answer Not easily, unfortunately. The issue is that the aFe throttle body spacer moves the stock throttle body out enough that charge pipe has trouble meeting the opening just right to fit on the coupler and clamp, especially given that the charge pipe is a lot stiffer than the stock cold-side tube. You can probably get it to work by using a different coupler or by bending the charge pipe some, but a perfect fit is not guaranteed.

Customer Answer Our Lifetime Tunes Program only applies to anyone who's previously purchased a tuner and/or custom tunes from us for the truck they currently own. You would need to buy a custom tune from Stage 3 for your EcoBoost F150 before qualifying for additional tunes for any tunable upgrades you add in the future.
