2013 Ford F150 EcoBoost Supercab
Install was fairly easy but a couple of parts in AFE supplied hardware were wrong for my application. The two parts being one hose clamp was too large had to use a factory one for now, and the MAF sensor was not held in with a #20 torx bolt but it was easy enough to figure out. Pipe fitment was a little rough but with a lot of patience and a couple of breaks(lol) it can be achieved. As far as sound, it's not as clean as it would sound if I had a V8, I am even contemplating getting the cover. When traveling and the Turbo's spool up it cleans up nicely and the sound mellows out. I will have to drive it for awhile and see how I feel about it. Their is a slight and I do mean slight better reaction in throttle response and a smoother spool up. This is only the start of my upgrades so I dont expect to achieve what Im looking for until I complete the upgrade process. The tubes are nicely made and have very smooth bends and everything seems to be of higher quality. I definately recommend this product as a simple upgrade start. On a side note my truck only has 5K on it and I was informed that this does in fact void my warranty if anything fails as a result of the air intake system.

One of the few cases where sucking and blowing are positive descriptions. I like all the noise you get with this thing. I am a semi-rehabilitated (grown up) DSM and Honda kid and I always loved the sounds that came from the built cars. This intake gives you that, swooosh, suck, blow noise. Can't comment on power or speed because I can't tell and I don't have a before/after dyne. Did a 4 Heartthrob at the same time. Throttle response is MUCH better.

I ordered and installed the aFe charge pipe, stage 2 cold air intake, and cover. The fit was ok and the total install took about 2.5hrs. I agree w/ the other reviews...the charge pipe does not seem line up very easily. I was so excited to take her for a spin after I finally got everything installed! My impression of thes bolt on mods- eh...the sound of the intake is nice and there may be a little more response when you hit the pedal, but don't expect anything drastic. Not bad for the money but at the end of the day these parts are really just part of a performance package. I'm hoping that when combined with exhaust & and tune it will result in noticeable gains and hopefully better gas mileage also. These are my future plans, so I'll keep you posted.

This intake system is possibly one of the easiest aftermarket products to install!! The performance from AFE Stage 2 intake is unmatched!!! The sound from this system is my favorite part! Performance and fuel mileage have improved as well, so this was money well spent. I recommend this system to anyone looking for a little extra power and better air for these turbo engines!

Another good quality product from AFE. Noticed a slight difference in acceleration and can hear the turbos more. As others have mentioned the wrong wrench was provided to remove the MAP sensor. Other than that it was an easy install and works great.

Not nearly the performance or gas milage increase as expected. Well built, clamps are too big. The clamp work fine, just over sized. Install is very easy and adds a nice look to the engine compartment. I don't think that unit is worth the cost and I am finding that the stock air box is not a bad system.

Love these dual cone cold air intake...They look fantastic i feel more power and torque..Lots of sounds like sucking,blowing and more turbo whine.The one tube does at first touch the fuse box but,with a little patience you can get it all to fit nicely...Really makes the engine bay pop...Car shows lol...I recommend these to anybody seeking power,torque,sound and style...Thanks Noah and Stage 3 very nice product.

2012 F150 Ecoboost Supercrew Max Tow
Noticeable increase in throttle response and power in the upper end of RPM range. Did the install a few days after running a Livewire w/5-Star tunes. These two together make a huge difference. The reducer going to the factory plumbing on the passenger's side is about 1/4 too large in diameter. Not a nice, tight fit until you tighten the clamp down very far. It does seal, but there's room for improvement in the design there. Where the AFE logo plate is riveted on, there were a couple thin aluminum shavings barely hanging on inside the air tube. Knocked them off easily enough. Not good to feed aluminum shavings to your turbos. That should be checked by the factory.

I highly recommend Stage 3 Motorsports and this product. UPS lost my address and the product was being shipped back to Arizona. Called Stage 3 and they shipped me a new one that day so it would arrive by the end of the week. Love this intake and being able to hear the turbos. Easy installation and looks great. Slight power increase, but mpgs will go down because I love hearing the turbos whistle now. Worth every penny.

This thing is good quality and worth every penny. Installation doesn't even require instructions if you just take a look at things before you tear into the old one. The sound is great. I expected more noise coming from it but really the sound you get is just a crap load of air flowing through your turbos. I immediately noticed an increase in power, and this is just the beginning of a series of new parts. AFE did it proper with this one.

Install was fairly simple. My Maf sensor wasn't held in with a torx ( what is provided for removal ) but with a pair of channel locks, It came right off. I installed the cai with a 4 diamond eye exhaust. Definetly saw and increase in throttle response and power. You can really hear the turbos spool up now.

Product shipped and delivered in 3 days time. The install took my buddy and I about 45 min and a couple beers - Very easy! It was a tight fit, but once you get it lined up correctly it fits perfectly. Could notice less turbo lag and throttle response once installed. My fuel mileage increased by about 2 MPGs. This intake looks great and also sounds real nice - You can really hear the airflow. Would highly recommend!

2015 Expedition
I bought this knowing full well it didn't technically 'fit' my 2015 Expedition. Turns out it was not only a perfect fit, but was a remarkably easy install. I had to modify a sensor because it's different than the 2014 F-150, but counting that, I went from stock to installed in less than 30 minutes at 1 am at 30 degrees. It sounds great, and produced a noticeable improvement in power. Fit and finish is probably the best of any intake I've ever owned. It also didn't produce a CEL like the K&N for my truck is known to do. Top notch product overall.

Put this on my truck last night with the AFE charge pipe. Wakes up the turbos not as loud as I thought it would be based off other review but you can hear the turbos better. Definitely not as sluggish as before and when you get on the throttle you can definitely hear the air moving lol. I was not impressed with the machining by AFE- the pipes were marred inside of them from the tooling they used. I cleaned out the insides very well before installing which is essential. Paying premium price for this set-up I would expect the machining to be better. All around it's a quality product. Because of the marring inside the pipes I'm giving this product 3 stars, not a must have for your truck but it does help performance a little bit and is one component to your build.

Bought this for my 13' f150 install was a breeze and took about 20 minutes. Did notice I had better throttle response but I did the exhaust tune and intake all at once. So I'm sure it was a good gain.

Sounds good on the truck, really loud and can hear the Air Alot more. 4 stars because one tube going to a filter was a little bent, and everything didn't fit exactly Perfect but it fit. Did this with a common socket set. Took about 2.5 hours due to stock clamps screws being on the underside so it was hard to get too. also it was hard to get the stock clamps loose enough To pull out the tubing, had to really force it off. Also trying to figure out the proper tool to get the Maf sensor off because it wasn't provided, but with a pair of pliers, I was able to loosen the maf sensor screw enough to screw it off, and get it on the new location on the intake. I'm not to good with a wrench and don't know engines too well, so I wish stage 3 did a more in depth video for people with low intelligence of trucks. And I wish they wouldve included a Breif segment of what are good and bad sounds to listen for . I'm Not for sure if it's leaking or not. Seems good to me though. So overall, it was well worth it and made high quality. I wasn't expecting it to be so nice and solid when I got it. Very happy with how it looks.

Customer Answer There is some contact between the aFe intake and the hood liner. However, your aFe intake should have come with weatherstripping to produce a clean and fairly gentle seal. If you're having issues or if your weatherstripping is missing, give us a call at 623-434-5277.

Customer Answer The intake should've come with weatherstripping that installs along the lip of its heat shield to prevent any damage to your hood liner.

Customer Answer This kit will work and function fine, though you will probably find yourself needing to clean the filters more often than the average bear. That being said, the dry filters are easier to clean than aFe's oiled filters.

Customer Answer The filters in this kit are reusable. Cleaning procedure involves blowing out the loose dust and then using warm water and mild soap (like Dawn or Simple Green) to fully clean out the media before letting them completely dry. A pair of replacement filters is available right here.

Customer Answer There's only a single part number for this kit, and no modifications were made to gain CARB approval. It simply takes a long time for a given part to go through CARB's testing procedures.

Customer Question Is an enclosed kit better than the open? I understand open top means more air, more noise. But wouldn't an open top kit just be pulling hot air from the engine bay? Seems to defeat the purpose of "cold air". But I'm just the guy that drives the truck, I'm not an expert.

Customer Answer The thing is that air temperature is only one factory when it comes to intake performance. You also have air velocity and air volume to consider, and most totally open-air element intake systems try to maximize volume and velocity with air temperature being less of a priority. That being said, keeping charge air cooler also helps, which is why there's so many close air box systems as well. Really, you should look for the kit that gets you the sound you want.

Customer Answer Using compressed air is recommended to get rid of finer particles before washing. That being said, if you don't really want to, gently using a hose or letting the filters soak in warm water and mild soap (Dawn, Simple Green, etc.) will get most of the dust and gunk out.

Customer Question Stuck between these 4: -AFE Stage 2 -S&B -Banks -AirRaid. How do these compare in spooling sound (Loudest/Quietest)? And also your opinion on which is the best of them all. Banks claims the highest efficiency increase from what I read at 64%...any truth to that?

Customer Answer The loudest by far is the aFe Stage 2 Kit followed by the Airaid, with both the S&B and Banks systems being pretty quiet. All of them don't add that much power on their own and their overall performance will be similar until you tune your truck. Frankly, I like the Banks kit the best just because it come with better hardware and couplers than the rest and looks cleanest in your engine bay while being much less pricey than aFe. The S&B kit is a close second, as it's probably the best balance of price and quality. While I don't doubt the veracity of Bank's testing, it's hard to say what that actually translates to out here in the rear world.

Customer Question I recently installed a diamond eye 4" exhaust from you guys and noticed a considerable amount of torque loss. Which intake will give me the best boost in torque? Will it give a slight change in exhaust note? I am sort of between S&B and Afe because of there option to keep hotter air out. The banks kit also has my attention. Of these 3 which will give me the best torque gains back?

Customer Answer Any of three will help to some extent, but a tune would really be the most effective way to gain back your lost low-end torque while gaining even more. Without tuning, the more effective way to gain back low-end would be an aFe Charge Pipe, rather than an intake kit.

Customer Answer All you need to do is tap or blow out the larger stuff that gets trapped in the media, and then wash the filter in a sink using warm water and mild soap like Dawn, Simple Green, or most other mild, non-abrasive soaps. Then you just let it air-dry and reinstall.

Customer Answer A couple of horsepower and lb-ft of torque without a tune. The intake does not add much power or torque on its own. It's mostly a sound and aesthetic upgrade, unless you're planning on tuning your truck.

Customer Answer That's just aFe's internal numbering scheme. Their Stage 1 Intakes are drop-in open-air filter kits without any inlet tubing, while their Stage 2 kits include filters, a heat shield mount, and inlet tubing.

Customer Answer Other than the fact that the oiled filter requires filter oil and the dry does not, aFe says that the oiled filters do flow air a little bit more efficiently than the dry, but the dry filters are much easier to clean and maintenance. Frankly, you'd have a hard time measuring any performance difference on your truck between the two, so you really should just pick based on personal preference.

Customer Answer According to aFe, their oiled filters flow a bit better than dry filters, but their dry filters are much easier to clean. Frankly, you'd be very hard-pressed to see an actual power difference between the two filter types (even under ideal dyno conditions), so it's really up to your own personal preference. Some people like oiled filters because they're the classic-style filters that they've always used. Others (like myself), are partial to dry filters just because they are easier to deal with on the maintenance side of things.

Customer Answer This kit is not CARB approved or legal for street use in California. Currently there isn't a single EcoBoost cold air intake that is CARB approved with an EO number. Now, S&B did apply for CARB approval for their cold air intake, but it's still working its way through CARB testing.

Customer Answer You will see a slight increase in power and mileage with the intake alone. The big power does come from tuning on these ecoboost engines. The tuners will increase boost, which of course adds great power.

Customer Question I am interested in this part but am concerned about engine codes. Will installation of this unit result in constant engine error codes? Also, is there benefit to installing this unit without an engine tuner. I do not want to void my factory warranty by reprogramming the vehicles computer system. Thank you.

Customer Answer We have sold alot of the afe ecoboost intakes (including running 1 on our project truck). I have never heard of an engine code from a cold air intake alone. The intake alone should not void any warranty, but you should always talk to the dealership where you take the truck for service just to make sure.
