2015 ford Explorer
I got my H&R lowering springs for my 2015 explorer in a speedy manner. It was packaged great. With just a few hand tools and an air impact it took just 2 hours, A little over 2.5 all the way around, It looks awesome! And still rides super smooth.. I definitely recommend these springs to anyone wanting a better look to their new Ford Explorer.

Customer Question Is there any trimming necessary to prevent tire rub? Also, do these work with factory shocks/struts?

Asked by: Fftrotter - 3/23/2023
Customer Answer Rubbing and trimming depends entirely on what wheel and tire combination you're going to use. These springs will work just fine with the stock shocks and struts. Give us a call directly at 623-434-5277 or email us at [email protected] so we can get more specific about your wheel and tire combination.

Customer Question Thx in Advance for reasing/answering my question. Just making sure this will fit on my 2012 ford explorer limited edition SUV. And the lowering specs are what? I cant click back but I believe it was a 1-2' drop in frt and a 2-3' drop in rear, end result the vehicle would be level after installation and the springs settle?

Asked by: Cole - 10/26/2019
Customer Answer According to H&R, these springs will fit all 2012 Explorer models. However, their ride height drop is specifically rated for the 2011-2018 Explorer Sports with AWD and 3.5L EcoBoost V6s. You are unlikely to get as much drop on a Limited Explorer, especially if it's only FWD. We can not guarantee you a specific ride height drop or that your ride would end up perfectly level.

Customer Question What is the max tire size that can be ran with this lowering kit?

Asked by: Jug0327 - 9/4/2019
Customer Answer That's going to depend entirely on what wheels you're using, specifically their widths, offset, and backspacing. Your best bet would be to call us directly at 623-434-5277 so we can get more specific about your explorer.

Customer Question how do the springs diminish the towing capability? Will you still be able to tow 5000 pounds?

Asked by: Michael Matthew - 7/8/2019
Customer Answer Technically, these springs won't effect your Explorer's GVWR or GCWR. Practically though, you may run into a few issues. Namely, these springs lower more in the rear to eliminate rake and provide a leveled stance during normal street driving. This is an issue when towing or hauling, since the rear suspension squats a bit when loaded, so you'll likely end up nose-high when towing. If you to and haul pretty heavy on a regular basis, you probably shouldn't use these springs.

Customer Question Does this kit come with installation instructions? And is this a diy job or should an aftermarket shop do the installation?

Asked by: Jason - 1/5/2019
Customer Answer Basic installation instructions are included with the kit. As long as you're comfortable and capable of using spring compressors, there's no reason my installation can't be a DIY job. If you aren't, then you should seek a professional installation.

Customer Question I tow a 21’ Malibu ski boat with my 2016 Explorer Sport. Will this lowering spring addition cause the body to rub on the wheels? Wheelas are stock size but Michelin brand.

Asked by: Todd - 5/8/2018
Customer Answer That's really going to depend on what size tire you're using and how much rear sag you get when your Explorer is loaded up. If you're loaded fairly heavy and already getting a decent amount of sag, I would not recommend installing these springs.

Customer Question What struts do you reccomend for use with these springs?

Asked by: Brad - 10/20/2016
Customer Answer Unfortunately, there's little to no aftermarket performance shock and strut options for the Explorers at this time. These springs will work fine with the factory dampers, however.

Customer Question Will this got on my 2012 explorer 4WD 3.5L?

Asked by: gmoney - 10/13/2016
Customer Answer H&R's springs will fit all 2WD and 4WD models and engine sizes, however, their rate of lowering is based on the Explorer Sports with a 3.5L EcoBoost, and you'll likely end up with slightly different ride height changes.

Customer Question Are special caster/ camber bolts required front of rear to get lowered vehicle back to alignment specs? I see other vendors include a bolt kit for the rear . Thanks

Asked by: Mark Wagner - 1/20/2016
Customer Answer Front camber bolts generally are not needed. Rear camber bolts can be needed if rear camber can't be adequately adjusted back to factory specs by a given alignment shop, though that only happens on some models. Give us a call directly at 1-877-578-2433 if you need rear camber bolts.

Customer Question can this be installed in the FWD version of the explorer? the 2.0L ecoboost?

Asked by: paolo tiglao - 11/13/2015
Customer Answer According to H&R, these springs will fit all 2011-2015 Explorers, including the 2.0Ls with FWD. However, due to the weight differences between the submodels with 3.5L EcoBoost and AWD, you may see slightly less drop with H&R's springs than what they're rated for.

Customer Question Will I still be able to load the SUV with people and take long trips with no wheel rub? Running stock wheels and tires.

Asked by: Paul - 10/4/2015
Customer Answer Unless you and your friends are a particular heavy bunch, you should be okay with the factory wheels and tires. However, your ride quality may suffer a bit when you're completely loaded down like that.

Customer Question I have a 2016 explorer sport. Will these springs work for my application?

Asked by: Wayne - 7/31/2015
Customer Answer Unfortunately, H&R has not yet confirmed fitment of these springs on the 2016 Explorers as of yet. They should have a fitment confirmation or new part number here in the very near future.
