2016 Ford F-150 Platinum 5.0
I ordered this kit during the 15 year anniversary sale and got it for a great price that couldn’t be matched anywhere else. The install wasn’t bad at all. Took a buddy and me about 7 hours start to finish using floor jacks and jack stands. I’m extremely satisfied with the kit overall. The truck rides better than stock and definitely better than when I had the leveling kit on. I looked at the higher priced brands and decided to go with the rough country instead sighting that the component lists were basically the same. After I was done, the cv angles and uca angles are near perfect. The hardest part was finding a good way to make the cut on the rear cross member. Ither than that, the rest of the install was straight forward and simple.

Customer Question I purchased the 4" lift kit and need to know if i need after market struts to replace the factory i have currently and also if new upper control arms are needed?

Asked by: Ford truck guy texas - 12/30/2024
Customer Answer The Rough Country lift kits are designed to work with factory struts and control arms so they are not necessary, but you can get some ride quality improvements as well as make alignment easier swapping to better struts and a good aftermarket control arm. Give our sales team a call if you would like more details.

Customer Question Could I fit a 35x12.5 tire with a 20x9 (0 offset wheel)?

Asked by: Jr - 7/8/2019
Customer Answer You cannot. A 20x9" wheel with a 0mm offset has 5" of backspace, and according to Rough Country, this kit requires a a wheel with a maximum of a 4.50" backspace to clear a 12.50" wide tire. If you go with a wheel with 5" of backspace, you'd only be clear a maximum of a 305 wide tire.

Customer Question I have a 2015 F-150 King Ranch, would I be able to use my Oem stock wheels?

Asked by: Juan - 9/21/2018
Customer Answer You can use the factory King Ranch wheels, however, you'll be limited to maximum of an 11.50" wide tire, due to the large amount of backspace of the factory wheels.

Customer Question Will this kit work for 2018 F150s too since it fits 2017s? Also if I get control arms too would that allow for tires with more backspacing? The kit allows for 4.5" BS but the icon control arms allow for 5" of BS on a 12.50 tire.

Asked by: Dustin - 9/6/2018
Customer Answer According to Rough Country, this lift kit will fit 2018 F150s. Control arms will not allow you to use a wheel with more backspace. The lift kit's knuckles dictate how much backspacing is required to clear a 12.50" wide tire. If you want to use a wheel with more backspace than what Rough Country recommends, you'd have to use a narrower tire.

Customer Question Can I add a 20x10 wheel (-24 offset) with a 33x12.5 tire with this kit?

Asked by: Jr - 7/13/2018
Customer Answer Yep. You'll clear that wheel and tire combination just fine with this lift kit.

Customer Question Could I use this kit with a coiler and only run 3 inches of lift?

Asked by: Ryan - 4/9/2018
Customer Answer You technically could, but you'd have to make sure you're actually at 3" of ride height so you don't end up with too much up-travel and have your geometry thrown off by too much. You'd also be maxing out the ride height on a lot of coilover systems which may result in sub-par ride quality.

Customer Question I currently have a leveling coilover kit (4WD FOX Stage 1 Suspension Package Part Number:FOX-14STAGE14WD). Can I add this Lift Kit with the current coilover I have?

Asked by: Silverio - 2/15/2018
Customer Answer You can reuse the front coilovers with Rough Country's lift kit, since it comes with strut spacers, though we do recommend that you lower the ride height of the coilovers so that you stay at 4" of front lift. However, you will not be able to reuse the Fox 2.0 rear shocks included in that package, since they are not long enough to be used on a 4" lift kit.

Customer Question Is it normal to have reverse rake with this kit? My front seems higher than my rear. front ground to center of fender lip is 42" and the rear is 41"

Asked by: tomwins - 12/21/2017
Customer Answer In general, this kit gets the 2015-2017 F150s pretty level. In general, a better measurement is from the center of the hub to the edge of wheel well lip. The suspension also tends to settle some (especially up front) after a lift install after some drive time, especially if your truck doesn't have a lot of miles on it yet.

Customer Question I'm looking at this lift kit versus some of the other ones that come with coilovers for 4" lift kits. Would it be possible to use this lift kit, but instead of mounting the factory coilover under the 4" spacer in the kit, to use something like the icon 2.5 or Boss 2.0 coilovers, in conjunction with a difference spacer? for example, use a 1.5-2" leveling kit spacer bought separately, with the Boss or Icon coilovers that are set at 2-2.5" longer than factory ride height? That way you still get 4" of drop from the upper coilover mount to the LCA. In addition to this being feasible, would it provide performance enhancements that the Boss/Icon shocks give over using the factory coilover with 4" spacer?

Asked by: Eric - 3/29/2017
Customer Answer You feasibly can use a leveling coilover kit and a smaller spacer to get the length you need to fit a 4" lift kit, and you should see a decent performance gain from using an aftermarket coilover kit. We can't guarantee how much of an improvement in ride quality and performance you'd get, since we haven't tried the combination ourselves, and that all really depends on what coilover you're going to use. Regardless of your coilover choice, one of the biggest improvements in ride quality you can make to this kit is swapping out the rear shocks for a set of BDS Fox 2.0 Shocks for a 4" Lift.

Customer Question Can you use the Fox 2.5 shocks from the BDS kit with this Rough Country kit? If so, what would be the potential advantages/ disadvantages of doing so?

Asked by: Preston - 11/17/2016
Customer Answer You absolutely could. The advantages would be better on-road ride quality and handling (though the coilovers are a touch stiffer than the factory strut assemblies) and positively superior off-road performance than the Rough Country shocks and factory struts with the strut spacers. The only real disadvantage is the price of doing the coilovers and shocks, though you're getting what you pay for, especially if you off-road on the regular.

Customer Question What size of tires and wheels are on the red f150 in the picture. Looking to put 29560r20s with a 20x9 or 20x10 wheel. I also would like to know if this kit would provide a more comfortable ride than the Boss 3" coil overs?

Asked by: Anthony - 10/11/2016
Customer Answer Unfortunately, that's Rough Country's truck, and I don't know any specifics about it. You should be able to clear that size tire as long as your wheel of choice meets the kit's offset and backspacing requirements for a tire that wide. In general, the Boss coilovers have better ride quality that the Rough Country lift due to the fact that the Rough Country Kit uses a strut spacer and your factory coilovers for the front, and pretty basic shocks for the rear.

Customer Question 2016 F150 SCREW looking to add rough country 4" lift/ how would a set up of 295/60/20 20x9 wheel with no offset work / i see some places 33 works and others a 35/ looking to avoid rubbing/ my set up not as wide of a tire hoping that helps/ thoughts?

Asked by: T dogg - 9/30/2016
Customer Answer That wheel and tire combination will work, though you can technically fit a 35" tire with this kit, but you'll have to play around with offsets and tire widths a bit to make sure you clear both the 2015-2016 F150's crash bars and front valance.

Customer Question Can you fit 35" tires on with this lift and if yes what size?

Asked by: Jmaga - 8/27/2016
Customer Answer That's going to depend on what wheels you're planning on using, their backspace and their offsets. With the right wheel width and offsets, you could potentially clear a 35" tall tire, though Rough Country recommends a maximum of a 33x12.50" tire on wheels with a maximum of a 4.50" backspace.
