1999-2026 Ford F250 & F350 Standard AMP Research BEDXTENDER HD Max | 74814-0

Had bed extenders (from Ford) on previous F-150s, so I wanted an extender for my new F-250. I purchased the BedXtender HD Max in black powder-coat. The AMP installation instructions could have been better - I had to modify them, especially after viewing 2 different AMP YouTube videos that showed different install processes. I printed an extra copy of the “large” install template, using one for each side of my bed for clean markings/drilling (watch the YouTube videos and you'll see why I suggest this). Sadly, Ford gives a welded nut on the bed body specifically for installing a bed extender that AMP doesn't make use of, so the install took longer and drills into the bed - and partly into that nut. That's what took me so long with my install, trying to figure out how to get the extender level on the tailgate without drilling through that nut. You'll see that neither AMP YouTube video shows a level extender in the end - especially since one guy used the "large" template on one side and the "small” template on the other. My previous Ford bed extenders installed in under 5 minutes - this AMP HD Max took 2 hours to get it positioned right and level before drilling. Outside of the install, I like the AMP BedXtender HD Max. It's very useful and does its job. I would definitely get it again - even knowing that the install will take longer than AMP says - if you want it installed correctly. PS. - this was installed over a Penda Drop-In Bedliner and under a BakFlip MX4 Tonneau Cover. The bedliner added to the difficulty of the install a little, but with the BakFlip MX4, I don't have any clearance issues flipping my AMP BedXtender HD Max in and out with ease.
