After extensive research, this was definitely the way to go and I couldn't beat Stage 3's price. The look is great, especially after replacing the tires to 33's. IMO, the ride is as good or better than stock. The installation was relatively easy and the Stage3 video further enhanced the instructions but beware, there is an error in Fox's installation instructions. The torque indicated for the bolts to the lower control arm is WAY TOO HIGH. The instructions called for 160 ft/lbs. Suspected it was way too high at the time but proceeded as instructed. Ended up twisting off the last bolt. Subsequently replaced all four bolts (just to be safe) with new ones with standard torque for the high strength metric bolts.

I had previously installed the FOX 2.0 rear shocks. They made such a difference that I knew that I wanted these coilovers. Both Mark and Lou were extremely helpful and quick to respond to my questions and concerns. I lowered the preload on these springs by 6 full turns before even installing them. Needed to use a spring compressor as FOX no longer offers a spanner wrench. This would have been more of an issue if I was going up instead of down, but down was very easy. I did not want a completely level ride, but thought that the factory rake was too pronounced. After lowering the preload 6 turns, I ended up with about 1 of lift on the front keeping it about 3/4 lower than the rear. Personally, I think this looks best, but your opinion may vary. The ride is better than I could have hoped for. Disclaimer: I am not a serious off road enthusiast. The most action my truck sees is weekend trips up into the mountains on a washed out dirt road. I cannot speak to their performance at high speed down trails, that's not my intended use. On the dirt roads they are great. Excellent balance of firmness, control, and ability to soak up bumps. Where these really shine is on the terribly chewed up pavement in the Northeast. Potholes, man hole covers, expansion joints and railroad tracks no longer shift the truck sideways causing uneasy sway. The coilovers perfectly smooth out the harshness of my LT rated tires. Overall a vast improvement from the stock springs and shocks. Build quality seems very good, but only time will tell for that.

Very impressed with the quality of the Fox Front Coilovers. Installed them myself in about 2 1/2 hours. Ride height for my vehicle is dead level at the factory 1.5 adjustment. Couldn't be more pleased with the results. Handling is improved, I seem to have less front end bounce and less roll when cornering. I recommend this product.

I was hesitant to drop this much money to just level out my truck. All of that went out of the window once i installed the coil overs. Everyday on my way to work i cross over train tracks. These shocks handle them like a dream. They are firmer but not rougher. They got rid of that hollow truck bounce. These are worth it if you are on the fence.

So far good only got maybe 200 miles on it since install it was alot stiffer then factor but still smooth if that makes sense I really enjoy the ride , so when installing a small car jack came in handy also a pry bar and I wish I had a shorter torque wrench for the top 3 nuts on the coil over or more extensions for it to reach from the top took about about a 2.5 hours by myself in a garage working off jackstands I did have a impact also 550 cord came in handy to tie up the spindle to relieve some tension off the brake lines

After getting these installed, I'm not all that impressed w/them. Yes, they lift the truck to near perfect level, they're easy for the installer to put in since they're one piece, drop ins. But...they're very stiff feeling on the road. They do reduce body roll quite a bit, but you feel every bump now. I think I should have gone with the Icon's on the Bilsteins but I'll run these for a few years and hopefully they hold up.

I was expecting them to ride more plush; they're fairly stiff and not much of a difference vs my 100k miles oem suspension, on-road. They do soak up some larger bumps and potholes more than oem. Same with light off roading for the little amount I did so far. I can tell the dampening of the shock valving is helping as it does in the rear with aftermarket shocks. I installed them myself and I give a 5/5 for direct fit. I wish there was a chart with how much to adjust the spring collar for ride height for the various truck options. I lowered my spring perch by 1" exactly and when installed, the truck has about a 2" lift...I was expecting to get 1-1.5". It does look great and pretty much matches the rear so I decided to keep it at that height, since you have to take the coilovers off the truck to compress the spring to adjust the collar. Overall, install was fairly simple. I just was wishing for a plusher ride.

Customer Question can i adjust ride height of coilover while on the truck

Asked by: petro - 1/31/2024
Customer Answer Fox does not recommend adjusting the ride height of their Fox 2.0 shocks while installed on the truck as it can cause damages to the threads. The spring would have to be compressed so you can make collar adjustments which typically has to be done off the truck.

Customer Question I am running this set on my 2015 F150 with the 2.7L and the ride is too stiff for my liking, I feel every bump, ridge, pothole and rut both on and off road. Can you give me some advise on retaining the 2" lift while softening the ride? I'm considering either (1) swapping in a set of 3" ID 16" long Eibach ERO springs in 400lbs or 500lbs or (2) staying with the 650lbs springs these come with, lowering the adjustable collar to factory height and adding a 2" upper strut spacer to retain the 2" lift. Can you advise which option you think might give me the best results?

Asked by: Brandon - 1/8/2024
Customer Answer If trying to keep the your current height and still allow the coilover to do the lifting, than your only option is to run a lighter rated spring so swapping to a 500lb spring would be a good alternative. Fox does not recomment turning their coilovers down more than 1" so going down to stock and running a 2" spacer would not be something we would recommend with the Fox 2.0.

Customer Question I have some raptor take offs on a 2019 f150 stx 4x4. Only other mod I’ve put out on is a 2 inch level kit from rough country. No rubbing at all. The truck still has a little bit of rake. What I’m looking for is a slightly nose high look but I don’t want a 2.5” pick style level kit. What do u guys recommend for a coil over that will lift my front end slightly taller than the level kit I currently have

Asked by: Ter - 10/24/2023
Customer Answer These Fox coilovers will only provide 2" of lift so you would have the same stance you have now if you have a 2" level installed. Give us a call at 623.434.5277 and we can go over some coilover options that could get you more than 2" if that is what you are looking for.

Customer Question I have a 2019 f150 stx 2.7 ecoboost 4x4 with raptor takeoffs(315/70r17) and a rough country 2 inch level. Still have a little bit of rake. If I were to swap out the level with these fox coilovers, would I need to swap out the factory 1.5 inch block with let’s say a 1 inch block to achieve a more level or even a slightly nose high look ?

Asked by: Pete T - 10/21/2023
Customer Answer These are rated for 2" above stock ride height out of the box so if you are currently on a true 2 inch level you would still be sitting with the same amount of rake. You options to change that would be to put a smaller block in the back if you wanted a slight nose high look. I would install the coilovers and drive with them and let them break in some before taking measurements to see what you difference in rake is.

Asked by: DA - 7/19/2022
Customer Answer You can adjust their ride height down to take preload off the springs. However, they do not have a separate adjustment for stiffness/compression and you have to lower ride height in order to reduce preload.

Customer Question How many turns should the preload ring be backed off for a lighter 3.3 l v6 motor?

Asked by: John p - 4/7/2022
Customer Answer We recommend installing the coilovers first to see where you're at. While these coilovers should be set at a 2" ride height out of the box, that is not always the case. You should install them, measure, and then adjust from there.

Customer Question A shop attempted to adjust but went too high. I want to put back to out the box length (assuming 2" of lift). Do you have the factory coilover length measurement? This is for a 2015 F150 4wd. Thanks

Asked by: Dean - 3/7/2022
Customer Answer Since these coilovers provide ride height using spring preload, the actual length of the coilover does not change based on adjustments. However, the length of the spring alone will. According to Fox, to get back to a Fox "out-of-the-box" ride height, the spring would need to measure 13.25" long with the coilover unloaded (i.e. removed from the truck and on a bench).

Customer Question Will these work on a 2016 rwd f150? Or are the 4x4 and rwd different?

Asked by: Jose - 11/13/2021
Customer Answer These coilovers will bolt up to an RWD/2WD F150. However, you will get slightly more ride height out of the coilovers than what they're rated for on the 4WD F150s. This could be a good or bad thing depending on what you're trying to do, but it is something to keep in a mind.

I assume this would be similar to your 7.5" Zone/BOSS combo lift kit. I know that some lift kits (Rough Country) practically reuse the same materials from the 4" - 6" kits.

Customer Question Are these an adjusted spring rate for the Aluminum body trucks? What will ride better over rough pavement and driveway entrys on an everyday driver that only sees a dirt road occasionally? These or the Ebiach? I believe they have a lighter spring rate? The fox 2.0's in the rear made a world of difference over stock.

Asked by: Sivart - 10/25/2020
Customer Answer Spring rate is one factor among many that determine on-road ride quality. While the Fox 2.0s have a fairly high spring rate (650lb-in), however, the coilovers are also linear/progressively valved and there's less preload on the spring than if you were to use Eibach struts at their full ride height with the stock springs. In our experience, the combination that ran the smoothest on the road was the Eibach struts with the Eibach Springs, however, that puts you at a 2.7" ride height, which isn't everyone's cup of tea. In general, the Fox 2.0s ride extremely well on the street, and even though they aren't the utter smoothest of choices, they are by no means jarring or uncomfortable.

Asked by: Dave - 9/20/2020
Customer Answer You may see a smidge of settling. In our experience, even after pushing the coilovers pretty hard, we may have lost maybe 1/4" of ride height in the long term, but it wasn't anything massive that would effect tire clearance or overall stance.

Customer Question Can I run these up front without having to do anything to the rear suspension? New to the truck world so not sure if it’ll affect anything negatively.

Asked by: Conner - 2/17/2020
Customer Answer There's no reason why you can't use the Fox 2.0 front coilovers on their own without additional modifications. The only thing you need to keep in mind is that the rake reduction means that you could squat rearward if you're ever carrying anything heavy. Also, upgrading your truck's rear shocks makes a pretty big difference in ride quality and handling, so you may want to put that ahead of front coilovers.

Customer Question Could you utilize a 1" or 1.5" could spacer in conjunction with the Fox 2.0 Coilover set at 1.5" or 1" respectively? The Fox Tech stated that they have not tested this configuration. Considering the Fox is a plug and play direct replacement to the OEM, why could you do this? No different than using stand alone pucks like we have for years. No, I am not going over 2.5" so we don't need to discuss geometry. 2019 F150 FX4 5.0 SC.

Asked by: KC - 10/12/2019
Customer Answer There's technically no reason why you couldn't do it, as long as you don't go beyond 3" of total front leveling. However, your better bet would probably be just going with the Halo Lifts Boss 2.0 Coilovers, which can provide the amount of lift you want without needing an additional spacer.

Asked by: 5LEETR - 5/16/2019
Customer Answer The ride height of these coilovers are determined by spring preload, and the amount of thread showing from the bottom of the coilover is not a 1:1 ratio to end leveling/ride height.

Customer Question Can I adjust fox coil overs 2.0 985-02-015-2 to a height of 1.5 inches? . I want to level front of my f-150 2018 limited limited 4/4 crew cab. Is that a height I can accurately set . That's all I need to level out. Is there a rear shock that would work well with coil overs , I'm not a off road driver.

Asked by: Sporty52 - 2/21/2019
Customer Answer You can, though adjusting these coilovers does require a spring compressor and cannot easily be done on the truck. The threaded collar of the 2.0s allows for fairly accurate adjustments, though you will need to be fairly cautious about getting both sides the exact same height. If you're not driving off-road at all, then the Fox 2.0s may be a bit overkill in general. You may want to consider our Bilstein 5100 Package which is much easier to set ride height on (though they don't have a 1.50" setting, only a 1.25" and a 1.76") and aren't as expensive.

Customer Question Will they fit 2018 F150 2 wd or just 4wd

Asked by: JQ - 1/25/2019
Customer Answer These coilovers will bolt up to a 2WD/RWD 2018 F150. However, you will get slightly more ride height out of them than what they're rated for on a 4WD F150.

Customer Question I purchased these about a year ago from you guys for my 17 F150. I am considering adjusting them back to stock ride height. How do I adjust the Fox 2.0 Performance Series? Everything I am reading says that the Performance Series are not adjustable on the truck and that they need to be taken off the truck and used with an H press to compress the spring since a spring compressor does not fit.

Asked by: Adam - 1/9/2019
Customer Answer The Fox 2.0s require their springs to be compressed for adjustment, which is almost impossible to do safely on the truck with portable spring compressors. We recommend using a wall or floor-mounted spring compressor. As far as adjustment goes, after compressing the spring, you loosen the retaining screw in the bottom collar and then rotate the collar to your desired ride height/preload settings.

Customer Question Do I need to get the matching rear shocks or can I run these with the OEM shocks?

Asked by: Silverio - 7/9/2018
Customer Answer There's no reason why you can't use these coilovers in conjunction with the factory rear shocks. That being said, if you're going to do anything, you should probably upgrade the rear shocks first, since they may a substantial difference in how the rear end handles.

Customer Question 985-02-015 Fox 2.0, would these for sure fit a 2017 2wd? Are they spring longer since they are 4wd or are they just valued different?

Asked by: Blake - 2/27/2018
Customer Answer The coilover assembly itself is longer, and the valving is slightly different. These coilovers will physically bolt up to a 2017 F150 with RWD, but you will get slightly more ride height than what they're rated for and we can't guarantee what kind of ride you'll get out of them.

Customer Question Is a spanner wrench available for adjusting the Fox 2.0 Coilovers? If not, then how do you suggest to make adjustments?

Asked by: Otter267 - 1/30/2018
Customer Answer These coilovers do not use a spanner wrench for adjustments. To adjust their height, you have to compress the spring, loosen the collar's retaining bolt, and then turn the preload collar by hand.

Customer Question Can I add the FOX 2.0 Front Adjustable Coilovers to my 6 inch lift kit (2017 Ford F150 4WD)?

Asked by: JR - 1/23/2018
Customer Answer As long as your lift kit of choice has strut spacers and you use the strut spacers in conjunction with the Fox 2.0 Coilovers, then yes, you could. However, the Fox 2.0 coilovers are not long enough to be used in a standalone coilover configuration with a 6" lift kit. If you are using these coilovers with a strut spacer, we strongly recommend that you set them at a 0" stock ride height so that you don't run into issues with your current lift kit.

Customer Question Has any had success installing these coilovers w/o removing the axle nut?

Asked by: Otter267 - 1/18/2018
Customer Answer Not that I've heard of. Due to how the bar-pin mount on the LCA works, it's tough to get the stock coilover assembly out and the Fox 2.0 coilover installed without the extra clearance from having the CV being able to move around.

Asked by: gem1n1 - 1/7/2018
Customer Answer The Fox coilovers can be potentially be set at a 0" ride height, though we are not currently offering them pre-set at various ride heights. You'd have to adjust them yourself after they arrive.

Customer Question Explain how to adjust the height? Specifically lower from 2" to 1". Do you have to compress the spring to go back from 1" to 2?

Asked by: Larry - 11/28/2017
Customer Answer Height adjustments are performed by compressing the coilover spring, loosening the retaining screw on the adjustment collar, and adjusting the collar by hand. In general, you'll have to compress the spring with any adjustment due to the amount of preload on the collar.

Asked by: Stephen - 9/1/2017

Customer Question Can I add my 4" BDS spacer to make it equal to 6"? It said is pre-set at 2" out of the box. I don't do any off-roading and it will use only for daily driving mostly 90% pavement road.

Asked by: Andrew - 6/26/2017
Customer Answer If you're asking whether you can add this kit to a BDS 4" Lift Kit, then you technically can if you keep your stock strut spacers. You will be at 6" of lift up front, which will likely give you a hefty amount of rear rake, and you'll need to keep an eye on your suspension geometry and brake lines to make sure they're not overly stretched.

Asked by: Sal - 5/25/2017
Customer Answer You can use these coilovers with a lift kit that utilizes front strut spacers, though we do strongly recommend that you set the coilovers at a 0" factory ride height to start off to gauge how much your brake lines are going to stretch and suspension geometry is going to be thrown off. You can use these coilovers on both the Rough Country kit and BDS basic lift kit.

Customer Question I have heard that these springs are extremely difficult to adjust from the preset 2". I would prefer only a 1" increase but I am hesitant to invest if the adjustment is difficult. Could you provide some detail? A video on how to adjust them properly would be nice as well. Thanks

Asked by: Rick King - 5/20/2017
Customer Answer Adjusting the ride height on these coilovers requires using a spring compressor, unscrewing the retaining screw in the adjustment collar, and then turning the collar down by hand. If you want a coilover kit that's easier to adjust, then we recommend the Halo Lift's Boss 2.0 Coilovers.

Customer Question I have a 2015 f150 with a 6" lift w/ a strut spacer, will these bolt right up with the spacer?

Asked by: Joe - 4/27/2017
Customer Answer The coilovers will fit with a lift kit's strut spacer, however, you will need to be careful about your overall ride height, since the coilovers come pre-set at 2" out of the box. You'll need to ensure your suspension geometry and CV angles aren't overly thrown off and that your brakelines aren't being overly stretched.

Customer Question Can I use these in conjuction with my 6 inch lift kit? A lift with strut spacers. And if I did could a crank them up and make it 8 in the front?

Asked by: Kyle - 2/20/2017
Customer Answer You can use these coilovers in conjunction with a lift that comes with strut spacers. The coilovers are already set at 2" of lift out of the box, so you'd already be at 8" off the bat. That being said, you do need to be careful taking the truck up to that extra height and check your brake lines, UCA, CV, and LCA angles to make sure they're all not overly stressed. Keep in mind that some 6" lift kits out there are really just 4" lifts with taller strut spacers and already result in "off" suspension geometry.

Asked by: Bill L. - 1/19/2017
Customer Answer The Fox 2.0s will technically bolt up to your truck, however, you will get slightly more ride height than the 2" that they're rated for on the 4WD trucks, and you'll be taller than your factory coilover and 1.5" spacer combo by a good bit.

Asked by: Greg - 11/28/2016

Customer Question I have read these on 2015 and 16s will give you more than 2 inch of lift sometimes is this from just from initial install and they need time to settle?

Asked by: Ryan Hastings - 11/11/2016
Customer Answer They don't tend to settle much, but with a lot of 2015-2016 F150s having pretty low miles, the rest of their suspension generally just needs to break in, since the height of the coilovers is only one facet of the suspension geometry that decides ride height.

Customer Question I have a 2014 F-150 with a Fabtech basic lift. Could I replace my OEM coilovers with these and just add the strut spacer op top? Would this make a difference in ride quality or am I just wasting money?

Asked by: Raj - 10/23/2016
Customer Answer You could absolutely use the Fox 2.0s in conjunction with Fabtech's strut spacer. However, we do strongly recommend that you get the coilover's spanner wrench and lower their ride height to a 0" factory ride height so you don't end up with more life than what the lift kit is rated for. Ride quality will generally improve by quite a bit. However, the Achilles heel of most basic lift kits is their white-body rear shocks that just aren't that great. You could see a significant ride quality improvement by using BDS's Fox 2.0 Rear Shocks for 6" Lift Kits or the BDS Fox 2.0 Rear Shocks for 4" Lift Kits, depending on which Fabtech lift you have.

Asked by: frazer - 9/11/2016

Customer Question Will these struts work with a 4" rough country suspension lift?

Asked by: volblood - 7/25/2016
Customer Answer They technically can, but IF AND ONLY IF you keep your lift kit's front strut spacer, and only use the Fox 2.0s as a replacement for your factory coilover assemblies. The coilovers ARE NOT long enough to be used in a standalone application with a lift kit. We also strongly recommend grabbing Fox's spanner wrench so that you can crank down your coilovers to 0" stock ride height, so that you don't throw off your 4" kit's suspension geometry by taking it up to 6" of front lift.

Customer Question Would these work with my 6" fabtech i have installed on my 2015 f150? Its uses a strut tower spacer. So could i just replace my factory struts with these?

Asked by: Dan - 7/17/2016
Customer Answer Technically speaking, these coilovers will work with your lift kit as long as you keep its strut spacers and just use the coilovers as swap for the stock coilover assemblies. That being said, these coilovers are set at around 2" of ride height, and you'll need to make sure that your brake lines and other hardware isn't overly stretched out by taking your 6" lift up to 8". You may want to consider grabbing Fox's spanner wrench to adjust their ride height down before installation.

They rub alot in the front i tried cutting but it still rubs also the front end of my truck sits a inch lower than the back. Asked by: Anthony - 7/11/2016
Customer Answer As long as you have the Pro Comp lift with front strut spacers, then these coilovers will fit and give you some extra lift to help you clear your wheel and tire combination. The coilovers do come preset at 2" of leveling out of the box, so you may be slightly nose-high depending on your truck's front-to-rear height difference, though you could get Fox's spanner wrench and adjust their ride height down to where you need it.

Customer Question Can height on these be adjusted after being installed? Or do they need to be adjusted prior to installation?

Asked by: Alex - 3/30/2016
Customer Answer They technically can be adjusted on the truck, though it's pretty difficult, and the truck needs to be jacked up with load off of the suspension. The coilover spring puts down a lot of pressure on the collar which makes it pretty difficult to turn in general and you'll likely only be able to turn the collar about a quarter turn at a time with Fox's spanner wrench, given all of the other suspension and steering hardware that gets in the way. Fox recommends adjusting them off the truck and using a spring compressor, though you won't necessarily have to.

Customer Question Somewhat of a repeat question but just ordered the 2.0 coilovers for my 2014 4x4 so, using the factory alloys, 20x8.5 that had P275 55 R20 H/L Alenza tires,11.5 section width, 9.5 tred width, 32 height and cranking them up to the full 2" lift, would Grabber AT2 LT275 65 R20 11sec, 9tred, 34.1ht fit or stick with 33 x 12.50 R20 LT?

Asked by: tom - 12/28/2015
Customer Answer The coilovers come preset at 2" of ride height out of the box, but you can fit 275/65R20s on a factory tire with a 2" leveling kit, though you may get some rub if you have factory fender flares or if you turn while articulating. In general, we recommend using a maximum of a 33"x11.5" tire or close metric equivalent with a 2" leveling kit to avoid rubbing issues all together.

You may want to grab the optional Fox spanner wrench in order to adjust them, depending on your stance and ride height goals.

Asked by: Meathead - 9/1/2015
Customer Answer I'm sure it's been done, but we don't really recommend doing it. Using a spacer in conjunction wit the coilovers could have a negative impact on performance and ride quality. You could technically do it, just make sure to grab the Fox coilover spanner wrench to crank the coilovers lower in ride height.

Customer Answer The difference is extremely slight, with the ride on the 2015s being just a hair stiffer than the older trucks. However, the improvement over stock is absolutely worth it.

Customer Question I have a 2014 ford f150 fx4 will I need to get all four are just the two for up front to level it out?

Asked by: Cody - 8/25/2015
Customer Answer To level your truck, all you would need are the front coilovers. The Fox 2.0 rear shocks don't provide any lift.

Customer Question Do I need to adjust the angle of the rear differential after installing this? If I don't will it cause damage after time? I'm asking cause installing this would change the angle. No sure how much play I have.

Asked by: Sergio Quiroga - 6/6/2015
Customer Answer You do not need to adjust your pinion angle with this kit.

Customer Question Will this hit the upper control arm when at full travel or at full lock when turning. I purchased the 2.5 spacers from you a couple month ago and have had nothing but issues they hit over bumps and when I'm turning. I'm a mechanic at a ford dealer and I've reinstalled a couple times and there still hitting. So I'm thinking if buying these and getting rid of the junk spacers?

Asked by: Skip Wilson - 5/8/2015
Customer Answer You'd still likely get some contact with the spring at full droop, but probably not while turning depending on the model year of your truck. If you wanted to avoid the problem all together, you'd need a set of aftermarket upper control arms.

Customer Question Could you let me know the difference between this Fox 2.0 Coilover Leveling kit and the Boss? Would there be a preference depending on driving style? I am mostly on rough state highways and gravel roads, with some moderate off-roading. I pull a trailer occasionally with my 2014 F150; it has the HD package with an extra leaf spring. Thank you.

Asked by: Jeremy - 4/26/2015
Customer Answer Each are valved slightly differently, though the on-road ride quality is excellent on both, and both can handle light to medium duty off-roading just fine. The Fox coilovers are built a bit better than the F150Lifts, however, the F150Lift's coilovers have up to 3" of front ride height increase, while the Fox coilovers are only rated for an extra 2". You preference will really be down to how much ride height you'd like to gain on the front of your truck.

Customer Question Do these increase wear on front suspension components like spacer type kits? Are UCAs beneficial with a 2" level or are they only needed on larger kits?

Asked by: dbo - 10/28/2014
Customer Answer There will be some increase in wear on both the LCAs and UCAs, similar to a spacer leveling kit. However, it's generally marginal, and you have a good chance of never having an issue. UCAs are beneficial in that your stock uppers can still bind in high-articulation situations (especially if the coilovers are adjusted up to maximum height), but they aren't really necessary for a daily-driven truck or one that only sees light off-roading.

Customer Question what is the largest size tire this will allow me to use with out rubbing? wheels- 20x9

Asked by: gary - 8/12/2014
Customer Answer In general, 33" tires are recommended for most 2" leveling kits/lift kit systems. You might be able to squeeze on tires slightly larger than 33" depending on their tread pattern and your wheel offsets.
