Quick How-To: Rigid D-series LED Lights behind the grille of 2011-2012 F150s!

One of our most-requested install guides by our fine customers is how to get a pair of Rigid D-Series LED Off-Road Lights installed behind and shining through the grille slats of both our 2012 F150 5.0L FX4 and now our 2012 F150 EcoBoost FX4 Project trucks. Now,we said time and again that you just need a power drill and $3.16 worth of hardware from your local hardware store. So, here's something that's a little bit more in-depth to help some of you folks out and get your truck a pretty fantastic result.

Step One: you're going to need a pair of Rigid Industries Dually Off-Road LED Lights or D2 Off-Road LED Lights of your choice. We went with D2s on our red 5.0L F150, but with Duallys on our black EcoBoost for...reasons or something.

Step Two: head out to your nearest or preferred hardware store and grab six bolts and matching nuts and/or washers. Four around 1/4" and two around 1/2". We used self-tapping screws for the two smaller screws that them easier to get get through the radiator support. Also find some steel plates that you can use as brackets They don't need to be a certain size, just roughly an 1" to 1-1/4" wide and roughly 4" long. You may get lucky and find something suitable in their scrap bin.

Step Three: With your hardware and lights in-hand, it's time to actually get busy on the truck. First, remove the dust covers for your headlights that really don't work anyway. Then take a suitable drill and drill bit and drill in from the bottom of your truck's radiator support the holes for your smaller mounting screws. Line up the bracket, mark where you need to drill, and then drill similarly-sized holes through your piece of steel. Once the mounting holes are done, figure out where you want your light, mark it, and drill again for your larger bolt and nut.

Step Four: with everything drilled, all that's left is mounting up the brackets and lights, and running their wiring.
