Here at Stage 3 Motorsports, one of the first things our new project cars beg us for is a set of high-performance tires and custom rims. We may be nit-picking here, but there is definitely a noticeable difference between the bulky look of most stock Mustang tire and wheel combinations, and when you're trying to create a dream car, you've got to up the ante when it comes to the look and performance. Thanks to the innovative road and track racing engineers at Niche and Nitto, our 2008 GT500 5.4L Project Car now has a much more aggressive appearance than from the day we rescued it from obscurity.
While we all love the interior and exterior of the 2007-2014 GT500 here at Stage 3 Motorsports, a great way to add a more modern look is with the crisp and bright replacement LED bulbs from our friends at Diode Dynamics. Your interior instantly gets a much brighter kick from these inexpensive LED bulb replacements while your exterior gets an entirely new level of cool without having to do an all-out replacement of the front and rear light housings.
Here at Stage 3 Motorsports, we all have our own favorite upgrades and modifications that make our project cars stand apart, but one thing that's hard to disagree about is how great a true carbon fiber accessory can help improve the looks of a 2005-2016 Mustang. Our friends at TruFiber have been hard at work over the last few months designing a nice variety of new interior and exterior Mustang carbon fiber pieces to give your Pony some show-quality looks. From the 2005-2009 Mustang that's being built-up for the occasional track days to a brand new 2015-2016 Mustang, even the smallest accessory can add a lot.
Even the highest-horsepower 2005-2016 Mustang that's been built up for speed is not the complete package until it has the right custom aftermarket wheels. Whether you like to light it up occasionally on the streets, those weekend racing days at the track or your local car show, Niche has a full line-up of Mustang Wheels that will set you apart from the rest of the pack. Niche offers modern designs that include everything from Chrome, Gloss White and Gun Metal finishes to Gloss Black and Double Dark Black Machined that instantly transform your Mustang or Shelby GT500 into a head-turning muscle car. Here at Stage 3 Motorsports, we're happy to offer a full line-up of some of the most impressive designs offered by Niche in order to help make the transformation complete.
...and we've already started bastardizing it. Our 2015 EcoBoost Mustang arrived here at Stage 3 yesterday afternoon, and spent the latter part of the day getting some new wheels and tires thrown onto it. We grabbed ourselves a base model EcoBoost Mustang with nice and bright Competition Orange Paint. No performance package, no frills. Just a car that we can rip everything out of, before throwing aftermarket hardware back into it. Being a base model Mustang, it naturally came with fairly sad 17" wheels and Hankook tires with enough sidewall for your average soccer-going minivan. Needless to say, those didn't stay on long, and a few minutes after our preliminary photo shoot, the car and new set of wheels and tires went out for mounting, balancing, and installation.
Ford has officially unveiled the completely redesigned 2015 Mustang, and handed over some great, new info on what the sixth-generation Pony will be packing under its hood, in its suspension, and in its interior. The official images do the new Mustang much better justice than the leaked images from Autoweek, but the design is still stirring up controversy, especially fans of the more retro look of the 2005 to 2014 Mustangs. The new S550 body style is a big departure for the Mustangs, but the aggressive looks, revised suspension, lighter weight and new addition to the engine lineup may make this Mustang one of the best-handling and most nimble Ponies ever.
