Despite our 6.7L Fridge on Wheels having an impressive 400 horsepower and 800lb-ft of torque from the factory, we just needed more. We have a serious addiction that can only be cured by throwing bolt-on performance parts and tuning at our project trucks. Naturally, we started out with a few of the basics such as an S&B Intake, MBRP Exhaust and Edge tuner.
NOTE: The S&B Cold Air Intake shown in the photos and video above is an outdated version that has been replaced by S&B's current F250-F350 6.7L Diesel Cold Air Intake
Our friends at S&B hooked us up with a new cold air intake for the 6.7L in our F250 Project truck. S&B's intake added a nice bump in power and has one of the highest quality designs on the market for the 6.7L Super Duty's. The kit is also 50-State Legal, allowing anyone living under CARB 's emissions regulations to install the system on their own truck without any extra hassle!
If there's one glaring flaw with the 2011 to 2014 Super Dutys (besides their handling and beside manner), it's their distinct lack of a sound. The enormous DPF chokes off a ton of sound and their huge muffler doesn't help either. To fix the situation on our own 6.7L, we grabbed ourselves an MBRP Installer Series 4" DPF-Back Exhaust Kit. The kit deletes the factory muffler to provide a noticeable, if a bit mild, increase in sound, while giving our truck a more aggressive look. The kit comes standard with a 5" diameter polished tip, but we talked our good friends over at MBRP into sending us a 5" black tip instead to better match the black on white color scheme we're going for. Unfortunately, we no longer sell this exhaust kit on our website, but we have plenty of comparable Exhaust Systems that will make your engine sound perfect.
To really add some power to our 2014 F250 6.7L, we needed a tune and a tuner to upload it. The good news is that our friends over at Edge Products had our backs with their awesome Evolution CTS2 tuners and monitors. The CTS2 combines of the sleekest, sexiest, and most ergonomic monitoring systems on the market today with some of the best Super Duty diesel tuning out there so that you get one heck of an upgrade for you aggressive 6.7L Super Duty. We are nothing short of impressed with CTS2 as a monitor. It's responsive, compact, extremely easy to use, and loaded down with more features than we can possibly fathom. The actual tunes on the CTS2 are extremely powerful, and are quoted to add up to 180lb-ft of torque when using the highest power levels. Overall, the CTS2 has turned out to be a great choice for our truck. As impressive as this tuner is, we no longer carry it on our website, but don't worry! Your build can still sound awesome with our inventory of similar Tuner & Monitors.
Next we got our driveline prepped and ready to handle the extra power we stacked on by installing aFe front and rear differential covers. With an upgraded 5-quart lube capacity (factory stock is 4 quarts), a magnetic drain plug and a magnetic-tipped fill plug these covers provide a great way to capture loose particles for maximum protection. AFE's covers also feature external fins that work to transfer heat from the fluid to the outside air for maximum cooling. AFE Rear Differential Cover , AFE Front Differential Cover
The aFe transmission pan was a significant upgrade to help keep our transmission in good shape with the new found power. It holds 3 more quarts of fluid over stock, is finned to improve cooling capabilities and also it just looks downright tough. The pan is constructed out of durable die-cast A380 aluminum with reinforced ribs and kept in a raw-looking finish. F250-F350 AFE Transmission Pan Cover (Raw)
