Sometimes it's the subtle and tasteful modifications that make all difference in a vehicle's appearance. That has definitely proved to be true with this 2015 F150 build, and its lighting upgrades have followed the same philosophy. For this build, we installed a set of LED Headlights, Rigid Fog Light Brackets and D-Series lights, and a Raptor Style Grille Light Kit. Together these mods create a more aggressive and functional lighting set up for our truck. You can purchase these exact lighting mods in the product section at the bottom of this page.
Ford's factory headlights aren't terrible, but they also aren't extremely exciting, so we decided to change up the headlights on our F150 project truck to get more light and a more aggressive look. We picked up a set of LED OEM Headlights from Raptor Retrofit that really helped add some character to the front of our truck. Unfortunately these lights are no longer available, but we do have plenty of other great F150 lighting options to choose from on our site. You can view our entire selection of F150 headlights on our 15-17 F150 Headlights page.
The goal with this truck was to keep its exterior appearance looking clean and mean. However, we also needed to improve it's off-road lighting output. Our good friends over at Rigid Industries had our back with their D-Series Fog Light Bracket Kit. This awesome mounting system replaces the fog lights and fog light buckets with a complete bracket kit that's capable of mounting up two Rigid Industries D-Series Dually or D-Series D2 cube lights on each side. The end result is a slick, near-OE look with massively improved lighting output. Sadly, we no longer have this specific mounting system in stock. With our Rigid fog light brackets installed, we now had to decide which lights we wanted to mount on them. The first pair we grabbed were Rigid's D-Series DOT/SAE Fog Lights which we tied into our stock fog light wiring using a Starkey Products Deutsch to H10 Adapter Kit that allowed the lights to function on the factory fog light switch in the truck! These Rigid Fogs gave us the ability to run some powerful off-road lighting that could still be used on the road when we needed since they're DOT approved. Rigid D-Series DOT/SAE Fog Lights
Since the Rigid brackets can support two pairs of lights, we opted for a pair of Rigid's D2 Driving Lights as our second set. The D2's greatly increased our F150's off-road light output using a bank of six powerful LED's on each light which creates awesome visibility that reaches more than 280+ meters. We used the D2's standard wiring and switch which we mounted next to the steering wheel in the cab to make it easily accessible and inconspicuous. Rigid D2 LED Lights - Driving
Sticking with the theme of subtle upgrades, we picked up a Raptor Style Grille Light Kit for our 2015 F150 build. These little LED lights do a great job of making the front of our truck more aggressive looking than stock without completely changing the overall F150 style. They're also inexpensive and extremely easy to install which makes them a great mod for any F150! Unfortunately, we no longer carry this specific grille light kit, but if you love the look just like we do, check out our inventory of Raptor-Style Grille Lights.
