While engine upgrades, lifts, wheels and tires are all great ways of enhancing the utility of your F150, we know that sometimes it's the simple accessories that can make all the difference. For this reason we grabbed a few key accessories for our 2015 F150 EcoBoost to get some extra functionality and better utility. You can purchase these exact mods in the product section at the bottom of this page.
We here at Stage 3 get a lot of use out of our project truck's beds, whether it be hauling around camera equipment, camping gear or performance parts. We needed a tonneau cover that's tough and could be adjusted for about any application or cargo-carrying need that we had in mind. To that end, we grabbed a BAK Industries 5.5ft Bed BAKFlip G2 Tonneau Cover. The BAKFlip has a tri-fold design and is made out of durable aluminum for rugged build quality without too much added weight. Despite its cumbersome size, the cover is extremely easy to install and doesn't require any drilling, cutting, or permanent modifications to your truck. 2015-2017 F150 BAKFLIP G2 Tonneau Cover 5.5 ft. Bed
It's hard to believe that BAK Industries could build a better quality tonneau cover than the BAKFlip G2 we've had on our 2015 F150, but they have. The BAKFlip F1 Solid-Fold Tonneau Cover has many of the same great features as the G2 model, but with some improvements. The F1 is designed using high-quality polymers and fiberglass with an aluminum underside to create a sturdy top capable of supporting up to 400 lbs. It also features a specialized flush-hinge design that prevents ice and snow buildup on the tonneau and helps reduce the chance of leaks and other potential problems during extreme weather conditions. 2015-2017 F150 BAKFlip F1 Hard-Folding Tonneau Cover 5.5ft Bed
Ever since we first installed one of BedRug's bed liner kits on our 2012 F150 5.0L Project Truck, we've been obsessed with the things. Naturally, we had to grab one of BedRug's 15-17 F150 5.5ft Bed Complete Liner Kits for this project truck. The BedRug is more or less what it sounds like and lines your bed with a mat made from synthetic fibers that gives it a look and feel like your standard household rug. The difference is that the BedRug is extremely durable, yet easy to clean. Installation is also straightforward and easy, and the kit simply zips together and then installs into the bed with a combination of 3M tape and Velcro pads. The BedRug can handle just about any cargo, yet is soft and comfy enough that you could take a nap on it. 2015-2017 F150 BedRug Complete Bed Liner (5.5 Ft. Bed)
We needed a convenient place to store some tools and recovery gear in our 2015 F150 so we threw in a Driver's Side Undercover Swing Case Tool Box. The Swing Case is a useful addition to just about any truck, and it comes with a locking hinge assembly that allows you to literally swing the tool box out toward your truck's tailgate to access its contents, while also locking in place against the side of your bed to help save space. The Swing Case is extremely handy for tool storage, and is large enough to hold a variety of gear while maintaining a low-profile design. 2015-2017 F150 Undercover Swing Case Storage Box
If you haven't noticed, we here at Stage 3 are pretty big into the outdoors, camping being one of our favorite things to do. That's why Rightline's Bed Tent (for 5.5' beds) was a must have accessory to throw in our F150 project truck. Rightline's tent turns your F150's bed into the perfect campsite, up high, dry, and off the ground all in a matter of minutes. The Bed Tent features its own storage pouches, lantern hook, and a sky view vent that can be covered with a rainfly in case the weather goes south. F150 Rightline Gear Truck Bed Tent (5.5ft Beds)
Naturally, with improved off-road capability comes the very real risk of getting into real sticky mud, snow, and whatever else. While we don't mind getting dirty, trying to get grime out of the rear wheel wells is next to impossible. That's where Husky's Rear Wheel Well Guards come in. Husky's guards are a complete wheel well liner kit that helps keep any nastiness kicked up by your tires out of your F150's wheel well, bedsides, and your rear axle. They make for a great upgrade on basically any truck. 2015-2017 F150 Husky Liners Rear Wheel Well Guards (Pair)
It gets a little "interesting" entering and exiting a truck that's sitting on a 6" suspension lift kit and large tires. A side step solution was definitely going to be needed before we threw the lift kit on, so we got ourselves a set of 2015 F150 AMP Research Plug-and-Play Running Boards. These AMP Steps come with an OBD-II plug that allows you to simply plug them in and go without needing to tie any wiring into your truck's doors. The AMP PowerSteps are fully motorized and will drop down from their folded position when you open your truck's doors. The steps are extremely sturdy and have a decent amount of drop, which makes them perfect for lifted F150s. However, they also tuck up extremely close to the truck's body which allows for plenty of clearance to avoid hanging up on obstacles and tough terrain. 2015-2017 F-150 AMP Research PowerStep Plug-N-Play Running Boards w/ Light Kit.
The AVS Bug Deflector II is essentially an armored uni-brow for the front of your F150 that shields it from incoming bugs and rocks. While it installed easily and did a fine job protecting our truck's hood, it's not really our style so we ended up taking it off.
