High-Quality, High-Performance Suspension Kit at a Great Price
F150s that are going to see serious use both on and off the road are going to need a suspension overhaul using quality components that provide excellent performance. However, you don't have to break your bank doing it, and our Bilstein 6112 Stage 2 System replaces your factory coilover assemblies and rear shocks with awesome and powerful Bilstein coilover assemblies and remote reservoir rear shocks at a great price. Each one of these packages features a par of Bilstein 6112 front coilover assemblies, as well as a pair of Bilstein 5160 rear shocks that work together to give your F150 a huge bump in handling and capability both on an off-road. Rounding out the kit is a set of Grimm OffRoad tubular uniball UCAs that give your F150 a slight improvement in travel and greatly increased strength over stock. The 6112 front coilover assemblies feature selectable spring perches that can add 0", .5", 1.5", or 2" of ride height to help reduce your truck's rake and get you clearance for larger wheel and tire combinations. The 5160 rear shocks can handle up to 2" of rear lift, allowing you to use 3" rear blocks, add-a-leafs, or complete aftermarket leaf packs without any issues with the shocks. Both the 6112 coilover assemblies and the 5160 rear shocks install right in place of your F150's stock components in a straightforward installation.
Bilstein 6112s with 60mm Shock Body with Digressive Valving and Bilstein Spring
The Bilstein 6112 Front Coilover Assemblies feature a durable construction with a piston and valving designed to handle aggressive applications. The coilovers are built around a 60mm diameter (2.36") shock body that has a much larger oil capacity than stock and features a zinc plated finish to help prevent corrosion. The shock assembly utilizes a gas-charged monotube internal design with a digressive piston with valving tuned specifically for your truck. The coilover assembly comes with a new Bilstein spring and billet spring seats that use a snap ring to fit into grooves on the shock body for ride height adjustments. The assembly reuses the factory upper coilover mount, bump stop, and hardware. The 6112s come with installation and ride height adjustment instructions.
Rear Shocks with a Gas-Charged Monotube Design with Remotely-Mounted Reservoir
Each shock was designed from the ground up to provide both a huge increase in performance and fade-resistance over the factory rear shock. The 5160 rear shock utilizes a gas-charged, monotube internal design with a 46mm internal diameter that provides improved rebound and response over stock. Bilstein designs each of the 5160 rear shocks with velocity-sensitive digressive valving that helps provide a smooth and clean ride on the street, while still easily handling off-road abuse. The remotely-mounted reservoir can be mounted to the shock piggy-back style with the shock's included hardware, or away from the main shock body thanks to its unique swivel banjo-fitting and malleable hose. Both the shock and the reservoir feature a clear zinc-plated finish for protection against corrosion.
UCAs with 1" PTFE Lined Uniball in CNC Machined Cup with Mandrel-Bent Tubular Steel Arms and Poly Bushings
The Grimm OffRoad UCAs for 2004-2021 F150s were designed for strength, and will let you and your truck rip around off the beaten path without letting you down. The heart of the Grimm OffRoad UCAs is their 1" uniball joint that offers both increased structural strength and better deflection angles than the stock UCAs. The uniball cup is made out of CNC machined 4130 steel where the 1", PTFE uniball is housed. The control arms come standard with an incredibly strong 17-4 steel adapter that bolts right through the factory spindle without the need for additional modifications. The arms themselves are made from 1026 tubular steel that's carefully mandrel-bent to ensure a perfect fit onto your truck. Each UCA mounts to your truck's frame using the OEM hardware and come with bushing houses with Zerk fittings that makes for easy maintenance. The bushings themselves are made out of polyurethane that's more resistant to deflection than stock rubber bushings while still having a quiet operation. The arms are topped off with a gloss black powder coat finish for a great look and corrosion resistance. Grimm OffRoad includes all necessary installation hardware and instructions. The arms are made in the USA and come backed by a limited lifetime warranty.
Fitment:
2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 F150 4WD
Requires spring compressor:
the front coilover assemblies require you to transfer over your F150's stock upper mount and spring isolator for installation. Installation requires the use of a spring compressor, and we
strongly
recommend using a wall-mount or floor-mount spring compressor due to the size and spring rate of the springs involved.
Backspacing Requirements:
the upper control arms require a wheel with a maximum of a 5.50" of backspacing in order to clear a 12.50" wide tire. Wheels with larger amounts of backspacing will fit, but you will be required to use narrower tires.
Uniball Caps sold separately:
uniball caps are not included as standard.
Grimm OffRoad Uniball Caps are available here

2019 Ford F-150 XLT 4wd 3.5L Ecoboost
This kit is a pretty good budget friendly option with high quality materials. The Grimm Off-road UCAs are a nice touch with great capabilities. The ride is firm but comfortable and terrain changes are handled with ease. The vehicle feels more planted and the leveled out look is drastically more pleasing than the factory rake. The bed hop experienced with stock shocks is all but gone. The fit and finish is superb. That said, a few improved options that would make this a true complete kit are #1 if the Bilstein billet 5160 reservoir brackets were included, #2 if the UCAs came with dust covers and boots, and #3 if there was an option to have the 6112s pre-assembled to the ride height of your choice. I opted to grease heavily and tape over the exposed uni ball joints until a proper cover could be sourced. I live in the rust belt and have taken great care to protect the frame of the truck and it would be very ideal if a set of covers were included in this kit to safeguard against salt, grit, and debris damaging the bearings. All in all I do recommend this kit. It is a fair price considering the included items, but I would advise if the improvements I listed are not featured in the future, I would source those items prior to assembly and installation.

Will a raptor wheel/tire swap work with this on a 2016 XLT crew 4wd 3.5 ecoboost?
Asked by:
Chad
- 7/30/2024
The factory Raptor wheels will work no problem. If you are also trying to run the factory 315/70r17 tire size, you will most likely have to do some trimming.

Just bought a set of wheels and tires for my 2018 f150 XLT FX4 FWD SCREW. Will this set up help me clear my wheels and tires package 20x10 -18 offset 305/55/R20?
Asked by:
Shawn Lee
- 6/7/2024
These strut assemblies can add up to 2" off front ride height so it will have plenty of room to clear a 33" tall tire. We just can't guarantee you will not have any rubbing when turning due to the tire width and wheel option you chose. You may need to do some trimming with that wheel/tire combo.

2018 F150. Use on road mainly. Looking for a 2 inch level, Bilstein, which is better ride quality 6122 or the 5100 ?
Asked by:
Tom
- 6/23/2023
The 6112 is always my choice for all around comfort/performance. The 5100 do great on light trails and road use, but can be a little harsh over large bumps, pot holes, severe offroad etc.

2017 Ford F-150 4x4 regular cab. With Heavy haul package. Will the lift work on this truck. I'll be running 275/70/18 on stock wheels.
Asked by:
Steve
- 2/27/2023
This kit will fit an F150 with a HD Tow/Haul package. With the 6112s at their max ride height, you should clear your wheel and tire combination.

So my question involves ride quality. I enjoy the smooth ride on my stock suspension, however once tires are replaced, I will be going larger, and was interested in this kit. From your perspective, how is the rides smoothness in comparison to stock suspension? Obviously spring rates and valving of the shocks would be different, but I don’t want to lose the smooth ride due to a set up geared mostly for harsh off road terrain.
Asked by:
Earl
- 6/3/2022
The 6112s and the 5160s are a bit firmer than the stock suspension, though this can be a good thing, since this kit reduces body roll and the bounce/jounce of the rear end when going over bumps. That being said, pairing this kit with a set of bigger tires (especially E or F-rated LTs) will not make for a smooth, factory ride. If you're not using your truck off-road, this is likely not the kit for you. If you are planning on using your truck off-road, then you're not going to have much of a choice in giving up at least some on-road smoothness for off-road damping and handling.

Will these on a 2014 f150 4wd?
Asked by:
Trey Dilliard
- 1/9/2022
This kit will physically fit a 2014 F150. However, we can't guarantee what ride height you'll get or what ride quality you'll have. Unfortunately, Bilstein doesn't have 2014-specific 6112s.

Will this also level the truck?
Asked by:
Paul
- 6/18/2021
The front coilover assemblies provide up to 2" of front lift. In general, the 2015-2020 F150s require 2.5" of front leveling to be "dead-level", though 2" of front leveling will greatly reduce your truck's rake.

I’m wondering how these compare to a stock 2018 F150 fx4 strut in regard to up travel, down travel and total articulation of the tire? Also, I just had readylift UCA’s installed and at full droop they still hit my stock coil over (which has a two inch spacer puck). Will these elevate this? If there is increased up travel, will the Readylift UCA with 14 degrees of caster built into the UCA cause the ball joint to bind at full “up travel”?
Asked by:
Justin
- 6/5/2021
Unfortunately, Bilstein was not able to provide extended or collapsed lengths on these for a comparison. Since the 6112s only level to 2" of ride height, you may still have issues with your UCAs.

Have a 2020 Ford F150 FWD WHEELS Backspacing: 4.56 Offset: -24 Wheel Diameter: 20 Wheel Width: 10 TIRES 33X12.50R20 will this kit work? Clear it? Or will I need at least 2.5" lift or more..
Asked by:
Bill
- 3/11/2021
You would need some amount of lift to clear that wheel and tire combination. However, you'll likely still get some rub at 2.5" of leveling, since your wheel's backspacing will push the apex of tire out to where your wheel well curves back in.

What size rear lift block would I need with this kit to keep most of the factory rake?
Asked by:
Andrew Stevens
- 3/9/2021
That really depends on what ride height setting you're going to use with the 6112s. if you're going to run them at their full 2" ride height setting, to get "perfectly" back to stock rake, you would need 2" of rear lift from a 3.5" rear block or something similar. However, the biggest block you probably should run is a 3" rear block. If you're concerned about load, then you should probably grab an Add-a-leaf kit or aftermarket leaf pack. Your best bet would be to call us directly at 623-434-5277 or email us at
[email protected]
so we can get more specific about what you're looking for.

Can I use this kit in addition to a 2” spacer style leveling kit?
Asked by:
Tyler
- 3/8/2021
Not at its full 2" ride height setting. We do not recommend taking the 2015-2020 F150s beyond 3" of total front leveling. You could potentially use a 2" spacer at the 1", .5", or 0" ride height settings.

Will the UCAs fit with the stock 20" wheel from a 2019 STX?
Asked by:
Nonchem
- 1/30/2021
The UCAs will fit a stock 20" wheel without issues. However, you're going to be limited on tire width. On a factory 20" wheel with 6.50" of backspace, you'd be limited to a maximum of an 11.50" wide tire.

is this set up good for towing a 34ft travel trailer? if i use this kit, will i still need to add bags or add a leaf? would you recommend something else
Asked by:
Mike
- 1/13/2021
This package does not really effect your truck's towing capability, at least in regards to payload capacity, GVWR, or GCWR. The only potential issue you can run into is that the additional front ride height may cause you to be nose-high when loaded, though that does depend on tongue weight. Given the size of the trailer, you should probably look at getting some sort of load support and/or additional rear ride height. Your best bet would be to call us directly at 623-434-5277 or email us at
[email protected]
so we can get more specific about what weights you're looking at.

Will this kit fit a 2016 f150 rwd with a lt275/60r20 tire?
Asked by:
Robert
- 12/22/2020
This kit will bolt on to an RWD/2WD truck, though we do recommend using either an aftermarket 1.5" rear block or a take-off 4WD rear block to keep the rear shocks in an optimal travel range. As for your tire, all tire fitments depend on what wheel you're using. That being said, a 275/60R20 should fit on most wheel options without issues if you set the front 6112s to their maximum ride height setting.

Will the 6112 work on a 2018 2.7 XLT?
Asked by:
Otto
- 12/2/2020
The 6112s will bolt up to a 2.7L F150 just fine. However, those trucks do tend to get a smidge more ride height than the 5.0Ls and 3.5Ls due to them being lighter. This could be a good or bad thing depending on what you're going for.

Could this be used with the Eibach pro coil springs? If not would it be foolish for me to try?? Needing an Over all lift of 2.75 inch. But more performance than the 5100 series.
Asked by:
Nick
- 7/30/2020
We can't guarantee it, and we can't guarantee that you'll get Eibach's quoted ride height on the 6112s, since the 6112s use a different spring than stock.

Will this work with 17x8.5" Method NV Wheel Machined w/ LT285/70R17 BFG KO2 Tires?
Asked by:
Mitch
- 7/3/2020
Yep. That tire will clear the UCAs and should work fine with the 6112s set at their full 2" ride height setting.

Will this kit work on 2WD models?
Asked by:
Justin
- 6/11/2020
This kit will physically bolt up to an RWD truck. However, the kit is designed specifically for the 4WD trucks, so you may end up with slightly more ride height than what they're rated for on the 4WD F150s and we can't guarantee what kind of ride quality you'd get. We also recommend using a
1.5" rear block
or a 4WD take-off rear block to keep the shocks in an optimal travel range.

Will I be able to fit 33x12.5xR17 BFG KO2 tires with this kit on a 2020 F150 Fx4?
Asked by:
J_Styles
- 6/8/2020
That's going to depend entirely on what wheel you're going to use if you want to avoid trimming. On the
ICON 17x8.5" Compression Wheels
that we used on our
2018 F150 Budget Build Project
, we were able to clear a 33x12.50R17 without needing to remove the crash bars or do any trimming. They did not rub on the street, though they did rub a smidge off-road when articulating and turning. Give us a call directly at 623-434-5277 so we can get more specific about your wheels.

Will the 6112 front coilovers fit on a 2015 Ford Expedition King Ranch 4WD? It is my understanding that the fronts are the same as an F-150. I know the rears are different. Thanks.

Neither Bilstein nor ourselves have confirmed fitment of the front 6112s on a 2015 Expedition, and we can't guarantee fitment, performance, or ride quality.

Would this kit work with a set of takeoff stock raptor wheels and tires? Or would aftermarket wheels be needed?
Asked by:
Josh
- 5/16/2020
It will not. The UCAs will not clear Raptor wheels and tires, and even if they could, you'd need to do a good amount of trimming and remove your crash bars. The issue is that the Raptor wheels have 6.5" of backspace and the Raptor 315/70R17s are essentially equivalent to a 35x12.50". ICON's UCAs require a wheel with 5" of backspace to clear a 12.50" wide tire. If you're going to use Raptor wheels, you'd be limited to a maximum of an 11.50" wide tire. At 2" of total lift, some good options include 295/70R17s or 285/70R17s.

Would a lariat stock wheel and tire 275 65 18 work with this?
Asked by:
Matt c
- 5/14/2020
Yep. That wheel and tire combination will clear the UCAs, and you should have more than enough clearance ride height wise.

I have a lariat with 20inch rims and 275/55R20 Wrangler AT w/Kevlar tires. Will I have any issues with backspacing? What would be the biggest tire I can fit with these rims and this suspension set up?
Asked by:
taik
- 5/5/2020
If you have factory wheels, you'll be able to clear the UCAs just fine with that particular tire. In general, you'll be able to clear up to a 295/11.50" wide tire on the stock wheels with their 6.5" of backspace. As for biggest tire, we generally recommend a 33x11.50" if you want to avoid any chance of rubbing. That would put you at something like a 295/55R20 or a 285/60R20.

I’m running stock lariat wheels with 295/70/18 tires on my 2015 ecoboost. Will the ucas have clearance?
Asked by:

- 4/30/2020
As long as you're not using a mud terrain with a wide section width and big shoulder lugs, the UCAs should clear that wheel and tire combination just fine.

Looking at the Bilstein 6112/5160 with and without UCA’s. Whats the warranty? I’m running 9x20 rims and 33/12.5r20 Klever R/T’s. Should work with UCA’s?
Asked by:
Wally Kilburg
- 4/27/2020
The 6112s are backed by a Limited Lifetime Warranty, the 5160s are backed by a 2-year limited warranty, and the UCAs are backed by a limited lifetime warranty on the arms themselves and a 3-year warranty on the ball joints. Whether a set of 12.50" wide tires will clear will depend on the backspacing of your wheels. The UCAs require a wheel with a maximum backspace of 5.50" to clear a 12.50" wide tire. For a 9" wide wheel, you'll need to be at 12mm of offset or less.
