One of the biggest concerns that most folks have when it comes to tuning their F150's or SVT Raptor's PCM is whether or not your Ford factory Powertrain Warranty will be voided because of an aftermarket tune. While a dealership and Ford itself would actually need to prove that the tune caused a failure in the first place (at least according to the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act), the situation on the ground is "interesting" to say the least, and an outright cluster at worst. With dealerships threatening to void Warranties over the most trivial of performance parts, (much less PCM tuning), we here at Stage 3 and our friends over at 5-Star Tuning decided to do something about it by offering optional Limited Powertrain Warranties that cover 5-Star's Custom Tunes at additional cost. These warranties cover your truck for up to $20,000 in damages which even includes labor to keep your powerful, tuned F150 protected if the worst does happen.
Our friends over at 5-Star Tuning are giving you a little more incentive to get a few things done to your truck over this long Memorial Day weekend by offering a hefty $50.00 discount on all of their tuners that come with their powerful custom tuning. No you can save a good chunk of change and get all your tuning needs satisfied for all of the other hardware you plan to get installed this weekend and get your 2004 to 2014 F150 or 2010 to 2014 SVT Raptors a ton of extra power and improved shifting, all while compensating for immensely powerful aftermarket performance parts and accessories. Any tuning device with 5-Star's Custom Tuning qualifies, and this sale lasts until Midnight on May 26th, 2014, so jump on this sale today to save some cash!
With many, many exhaust kits tested and installed on our newer trucks, it was time to take a leisurely and thunderous stroll back in time to the 2004 to 2008 F150s and their variety of cat-back exhaust kits. First up was the MBRP Installer Series Dual-Exit Cat-Back Exhaust Kit. MBRP is one of the most popular systems for the older 5.4L and 4.6L V8 F150s, and with the good fit and finish of the rest of the MBRP kits we've tested, we were pretty pumped to get this kit on our 2004 F150 5.4L Project Truck. The fit was excellent and the kit sounded great. While install was more intensive than your average single-exit kit, it was still very straightforward and hassle-free. Anyway, the MBRP Dual-Exit Cat-Back Kit was just a good all-around system and gave us even more faith in our friends over at MBRP.
The HeartThrob cat-back exhaust kits are one of the more popular systems out there for the 2011 to 2014 F150 EcoBoost trucks. The system sounds good and doesn't cost an arm and a leg, so we can see the appeal. While install left a bit to be desired, this kit fit in pretty well on our own 2011 F150 EcoBoost project truck. The kit produces a nice, clean sound when you step on the gas, but is pretty much silent at cruising or idle. The lack of a tip also provides a much more subtle look than your average 4" cat-back exhaust kit so that you get a good sound and some extra performance without a huge change in appearance. While installation and fit weren't as easy as some of the single-exit systems we've put on our truck, the HeartThrob kit is probably one of the better bang-for-your-buck bolt-on cat-back kits out there for the F150 EcoBoost trucks.
In general, it's pretty tough to find an exhaust kit for the 2011 to 2014 F150 EcoBoosts that looks outright aggressive, but doesn't make your truck unbearable to ride around in because of noise. Well, Gibson teamed up with the people over at Metal Mulisha® to come up with one of the most awesome and toughest-looking cat-back kits to grace the EcoBoost F150s. The Metal Mulisha® F150 EcoBoost cat-back features big, 4" diameter tubing and is topped off with a massive, 6" tip with a black ceramic coating with the Metal Mulisha® skull logo riveted on. The kit looks impressive and intimidating, but has a pretty tame and mild exhaust note with practically no drone at cruising or idle. This awesome kit is perfect for anyone who wants a tough look for their F150 EcoBoost without adding a raspy tone or a ton of exhaust volume to their truck. What's more, the kit is extremely easy to install, and we found out for ourselves on our own 2011 F150 EcoBoost Project Truck.
Even though a single-exit cat-back kit isn't going to get you a much different look than your stock exhaust, sometimes that's exactly what's needed for a clean, but menacing 2011 to 2014 F150 EcoBoost build. MBRP's Single-Exit Cat-Back for the EcoBoost trucks is all about the sound. This kit really changes the tone and volume of your truck's exhaust for a much more aggressive and menacing tone. Like most single-exit systems, the 4" MBRP Cat-Back Kit is extremely easy to install, and simply drops right into place of the stock cat-back. The Kit's large 5" tip gives your truck just different enough of a look for a subtle upgrade over stock. We personally liked the sound, fit, and finish of this kit and we were more than happy to throw it on our 2011 F150 EcoBoost Project Truck.
Our friends over at MBRP offer up some of the most popular cat-back exhaust kits for the 2011 to 2014 F150s. Maybe a little less so on the EcoBoost trucks than a few other kits. Whatever the case, MBRP's lineup of F150 EcoBoost Cat-Back Exhaust Kits are a good choice for anyone looking for a more aggressive and deeper sound than the systems out there that preserve the stock resonator, all while providing excellent fitment and quality. This MBRP Dual Rear Exit Cat-Back Kit for the EcoBoost Trucks really changes up the look of your truck all while adding a noticeable and aggressive sound. While maybe not for everyone, the MBRP Dual Exit Cat-Back System felt right at home on our 2011 F150 EcoBoost Project Truck, and is a good choice that wants a good combination of sound, fit, and price.
Magnaflow may not make the most aggressive, biggest, or loudest exhaust system on the planet, but the folks over there churn out high-quality kits with excellent fitment like no one else. The Single-Exit Cat-Back Kit for the 2011 to 2014 F150 EcoBoosts is no exception. This complete cat-back exhaust system gives your truck a nice, clean, and fairly mellow sound and a pretty awesome look thanks to its larger tip. This kit is a good way to keep a stock-style look while boost exhaust volume without getting overly rowdy. What's even better is that install was a breeze. The Magnaflow single-exit kit was an all-around pleasure to throw on our 2011 F150 EcoBoost Project Truck. While not the most aggressive kit in our arsenal, it's a good choice for anyone looking for a more subtle upgrade over some of the other systems out there.
The Magnaflow Turn-Down Cat-Back Exhaust Kit for the 2011 to 2014 F150 EcoBoosts is a deceptive little thing. At first glance, you think it's going to be this loud, ungodly obnoxious system that will make your driving your truck kind of miserable experience. Looks are deceiving, however. The Turn-Down kit is actually extremely mellow, with just enough rumble and volume to let everyone know you have something special going on with your aggressive F150. The kit's turn-down styling also gives the F150 EcoBoosts an extremely unique and clean look that you just don't see every day. The Magnaflow Turn-Down cat-back kit is pretty awesome all-around, and is by far the easiest system we've yet installed on our 2011 F150 EcoBoost Project Truck. The kit is a great choice for anyone that wants a more subtle and refined look and sound for their truck.
The Banks MONSTER® Cat-Back Exhaust Kits are some of our most popular exhaust kits for the 2011 to 2014 F150 EcoBoosts. They come backed by the legendary Banks name, fit well, and have a pretty clean and mellow sound. A lot of people have been itching for both an exhaust video and install guide of the Banks cat-back kit, and we finally found some spare time to throw the kit onto our 2011 F150 EcoBoost Project Truck. The Banks MONSTER® kit is a good choice for someone looking for something a little different for their truck without a dramatic increase in exhaust volume, cabin drone, or much of anything at all. The Banks kit is also one of the easier systems to install than some of the other kits we've put on the truck, so it all worked out very nicely.
We've recently added the MBRP Performance Series Exhausts for the 2011 to 2014 F150 EcoBoosts to Stage 3. While not the hardiest things on the planet, they're inexpensive, fit extremely well, and have an awesome sound that's all MBRP. We personally think they don't get the credit they deserve, so, for a limited time, we here at Stage 3 are giving away a free 3.5" polished tip with each purchase of either MBRP's EcoBoost 3" Performance Series Cat-Back Kit or 4" Performance Series Cat-Back Kit. You can also upgrade to a black 3.5" tip for the ultra-low cost of $19. Now you can get one of the most cost-effective F150 EcoBoost cat-back systems out there and get an aggressive MBRP tip all at a screaming deal. Our free tip offer is only valid on MBRP's Performance Series Exhaust Kits for the F150 EcoBoosts and is only for a limited time. Take advantage of it today!
