The stock fiber transmission cover offers little in ways of protection, and most F150's end up losing the things the first time it gets water-logged. That's why RCI developed their very own bolt-on Transmission Skid Plate for the 2015-2023 F150s. RCI's skid plate is made out your choice of thick metal which keeps your transmission and transmission pan much better protected than the stock cover. RCI's Transmission Skid Plate helps to prevent transmission pan damage and get you and your truck home in one piece after conquering the roughest terrain around.

Durable Metal Construction with a Bolt-On Installation

RCI manufactures their Transmission Skid Plate out of thick metal, which keeps your transmission protected no matter how hard you thrash your F150 around. Each Transmission Skid Plate is built out of 10-gauge steel with a black powder coat finish as standard, which can be upgraded to 1/4" 5052 aluminum in either a raw finish or with a black powder coat finish at additional cost. The skid plate installs without and drilling, cutting, or permanent modifications, and RCI includes hardware and instructions for install.

Fitment: 2015-2023 F150 4WD

Will not fit PowerBoost: this skid plate will not fit 2021-2023 F150 PowerBoost models.

Do you have to remove the skid plate to change the oil filter?

The engine oil filters are located on the front of the engine in the 5.0L and 3.5L EcoBoost F150s and the top of the engine for the 2.7L EcoBoost F150s, and the transmission skid plate does not block access to them. It does somewhat block access to the drain plug, but RCI includes a built-in, removable door for drain plug access so you don't have to take the entire skid plate off.

Yep. According to RCI, their transmission skid plate will fit with the factory stamped engine and transfer case skid plates.

It will not, due to the fact that it's only designed to fit the factory, unmodified crossmembers.

I have an AFE +7 quarts tranny pan on my truck. Would this tranny skid plate fit over it?

How difficult is it to access the oil drain plug? I see there is a built-in removable door, but with the plastic F-150 drain plugs, it can shoot pretty far when releasing. I considered getting the Ronin oil drain plug with an attached hose to assist.

It's not too difficult, from what I've been told by customers. Unfortunately, I haven't had to change the oil myself on a truck equipped with this skid. The drain plug tends to land on top of the skid plate, and you can generally reach its landing point from under the truck.

The description states that it does not work with the power boost engines. Are they referring to the ecoboosts?

This skid plate works fine on the 3.5L EcoBoost and 2.7L EcoBoost trucks. It does not fit on the 2021-2022 F150 3.5L PowerBoost hybrid trucks, due to differences in the transmission crossmembers around the battery pack.

Is this plate compatible with a 2021 with the 3L diesel? Looks like the plug access panel might be on the wrong side of the oil pan?

This skid plate will physically fit a 2021 F150 3.0L Powerstroke, despite the position of the drain cutout.

2015 F150 XLT 4x4 3.5l Ecoboost...The skid plates come in aluminum or steel, don't know about the bolts/nuts/washers: Which metals will react on the frame of my truck? Is the steel,or aluminum, skid plates least likely to cause electrolysis rusting? Thanks from South Carolina.

The hardware is all steel. In general, the aluminum skid plates won't have any electrolysis reactions with your truck's frame. Your frame is coated, and electrolysis generally requires bare metal-on-metal contact.
