Trucks with solid front axles aren't exactly known for their handling, but there's a very thick line between "My Super Duty doesn't corner like a Mustang" and "My Super Duty is trying to kill me." Welcome to the not-so-fun world of "Death Wobble", which is the shaking of the front wheels due to issues and/or instability in the truck's steering components. While Death Wobble isn't a new thing, on the older F250s and F350s, Death Wobble was generally reserved for trucks with big tires or trucks with a lot of miles on them that had seen better days. However, the 2017-2020 Super Dutys seem to have a special predilection for Death Wobble right off the showroom floor. There's been a lot of speculation as to why, considering the newer trucks with their aluminum bodies are a lot lighter than previous generations, but it's likely a combination of cheap bushings, weak factory steering stabilizer, and alignments that seem remarkably easy to throw off. Our friends over at Keep Your Daydream had Death Wobble crop up on their 2019 F250 6.7L and they turned to us and our dear friends over at ICON Vehicle Dynamics for help.

Keep Your Daydream ICON Steering Stabilizers

Keep Your Daydream's Super Duty Deathwobble Journey

Death Wobble is dangerous at the best of times, but when you're towing an Airstream across country. For the uninitiated, Keep Your Daydream documents their RV towing and living adventures over on their very excellent YouTube channel. They had their first run-in with Death Wobble back in November while on their way from New York to Pennsylvania. While they got Ford's recall done to help, it did not alleviate the issue. Thus it was our turn, and we go them setup with ICON's Dual Steering Stabilizer Kit. ICON's kit comes with a bracket and a pair of high-quality ICON 2.0 Stabilizers that keep the steering components under much better control than stock, even in case of a bushing or ball joint related issue. We sent an ICON Dual Stabilizer Kit up to Summit 4x4 in Prescott, Arizona, where Mark from KYD went to get the install done. You can check out the full process in the video below.

Steering Stabilizer Options for 2017-2020 Super Dutys

ICON's Dual Steering Stabilizer Kit is pretty awesome, and if you're rocking huge tires or towing heavy (like KYD), dropping a dual stabilizer kit onto your truck makes a lot of sense. However, if you're on a tighter budget or if you're using your truck for milder applications, then a stock-replacement single stabilizer like the Bilstein 5100 or Fox 2.0 TS may be more up your alley. You can check out our selection of 2017-2020 Super Duty Steering Stabilizers here.
