Highlights:
Massive Reduction in Backpressure
304 Stainless Steel Construction
3" Diameter
Increased Horsepower and Torque Output
Bolt-On Replacements
Will Require Custom Tuning
Vastly Improved Power without Rasp
The most restrictive part of your 2011 to 2014 EcoBoost's exhaust system is its downpipes and Y-pipe. Their small diameter and inefficient factory catalytic converters choke your 3.5L EcoBoost V6 off from making more power, especially if you've stacked on other modifications and tuning. Stainless Works' catted EcoBoost downpipes free up much of those restrictions and greatly reduce back pressure to give your powerful truck a massive improvement in horsepower and torque output, especially in conjunction with other modifications and aggressive tuning. Stainless Works' downpipes are a perfect way to push your truck's EcoBoost motor to its absolute limits and get the power and vicious sound you'll need to conquer the streets or off-road trails.
Includes High-Flow Cats and Y-Pipe Connection
The kit consists of two catted downpipes and Y-pipe connector for your cat back that measure 3" in diameter. Stainless Works carefully mandrel-bends all of this kit's exhaust tubing to ensure smooth outflow and to maximize power gains. Further reducing back-pressure are two high-flow catalytic converters that are are far less restrictive than your stock converters and also help avoid a raspy, whiny exhaust note that's common on off-road downpipe kits. This whole system is made out of high-quality 304 stainless steel that's resistant to corrosion and discoloration in any climate. These down-pipes are bolt-on replacements for stock and can hook up to your factory cat-back and stock-sized aftermarket cat-back systems.

READ! This does come with directions, Thank You SW. Read them! Good Addition to my truck. Follow the instructions. I've done almost every bolt-on to my truck. Had this done with a professional. Use a lift! If you are going to save your old down pipe, you will have to remove transmission crossmemeber. (I save all my parts to go back to stock for warranty) Drivers side Turbo is the hardest one to get to. Once you complete the install, drive your truck for 30 minutes...or longer. You will have an exhaust leak. I had one, along with many other I read about in the Forums. Lift truck back up and tighten. Found another 1.5 days later. Fixed it. Sounds great with 3.5 exhaust. Really hear the turbos. Don't be scared to do this install it takes about 2-3 hours on a lift. But, don't underestimate it either. Overall performance off this one part, I can't tell you because I also installed Livewire TS tuner.... NEW TRUCK over all!

SW makes a great product! These downpipes were a great addition to my truck. The quality of the stainless steel is top notch! To test the quality of stainless steel just sick a magnet to it and if it sticks your quality is pretty poor. I assure you that no magnet will stick to these SW downpipes. I highly recommend these downpipes and as always big thanks to the Lou and the folks at Stage 3!

Rating 4 out of 5 because I had to re-tighten the exhaust to the turbos twice due to exhaust leaks and the y-pipe collector sits too close to the side of the transmission crossmember and causes and additional vibration at certain rpms. Will likely have to go to an muffler shop and have them re-tighten or maybe add a hanger to prevent the collector from vibrating against the crossmember.

Noticeable reduction in back pressure, may require a tune to compensate. O2 sensor location should be re-engineered. Some difficulty with installation.

I installed this with the SW chambered exhaust system and did the down pipes on the first weekend and the catback on the next weekend. I'm not a mechanic by trade, but know enough to be dangerous. That being said, I installed these down pipes by myself in my garage with just the front of my truck on hack stands. I'l have to say that the instructions suck. Because of the bad instructions, it took forever to take the stock down pipes off. I finally found a video online of a guy installing that down pipes on a 2015 F150. From that video I found ot that I didn't have to take off the front drive shaft. Good thing because that was what I trying to figure out when I found that video. The other thing I found out was the location of all the O2 sensor plugs. 4 in total. Also the tools that would make removal easier. I ended up cutting my down pipe because one of the bolts that hold on the transmission mounts could not be loosened which also holds one of the hangers. Once you get the stock down pipes off, the install is much easier. Just make sure you take your time to adjust all of the pipes and getting it to fit before tightening everything down. I used my high torque impact to tighten the flanges and have no leaks. This is a great product and it fits like a charm. All pipes fit with no touching of any parts. It mattered to stock catbacks with no issues.

I hear a lot more about solo catted, but to me the SW catted seem better built. Does SW use quality cats? I can't decide between solo catted or SW catted. If theres nothing I'm over looking, I would have to say the SW are a better downpipe. What is your opinion on them?
Asked by:
J.T.
- 10/18/2014
"Better" is kinda subjective territory, but I'll break down some of the differences. The cell counts in the cats are exactly the same, and both are pretty high quality. The Stainless Works kit is made from 304 Stainless Steel, while the Solo-Performance Catted Downpipes are made with 409, giving the Stainless Works kit a hardiness advantage in places with heavy salt. Now, one of the reasons why the Solo downpipes are so popular (despite being made from lower-grade stainless steel) is that they have a built-in resonator just before the cat-back connection, which helps eliminate drone, making them probably one of the quietest downpipe kits on the market. Performance-wise, it's kind of tough to say, as the gains you'll see from a given downpipe will largely depend on your choice of custom tuner.

What size (inches) is the exhaust pipe down stream of the Y?
Asked by:
Josh
- 8/14/2013
This Y pipe has 3 inch tubing on each runner down to the Y pipe, after the y pipe the tubing is 3.0 inch. This mates to your factory 3 inch exhaust, or the stainless works 3.5 inch cat back options.

Will a truck with this kit installed still be able to pass emissions since it still has the CATs?
Asked by:
dj
- 10/30/2014
In general, no. There's too many variables consider given that each state/province/county/area has different methods of testing and that most custom tuner will disable the O2 sensors (even with catted kits) which will cause a failure on an OBD-II test.

if installing catted downpipe on a stock tune or mild tune, with the O2 sensors, will it pass emission? What performance gain might be seen from installing the without changing the tune?
Asked by:
jim
- 12/28/2014
You likely won't pass emissions when using the stock tuning. There's always a chance that your truck with throw a readiness code with aftermarket downpipes. You may see some gains (maybe 10-20 horsepower), but they'll be nothing compared to a properly tuned truck.

What about an emissions test that is not OBD-II? Where they just hook up hoses to the back of the exhaust.
Asked by:
dj
- 10/30/2014
Again, we can't guarantee that these downpipes will pass emissions. The cats are much smaller than stock, and while they tend to be more efficient per cell-count than stock cats, there's still a good chance that your truck may not pass a sniffer emissions test either. The only kit that will for sure is the
Kooks GREEN Catted Downpipe kit
. While pricey, it's the only kit we carry that is EPA certified and guaranteed to pass emissions testing, if your tuner doesn't disable your F150's O2 sensors.

Can this downpipe get shipped to a CA address? Thank you, Bruce
Asked by:
Bruce
- 8/12/2013
Yes this can be shipped to you in California. Keep in mind Stainless works sells this as an Off Road use product. So you may want to check local laws before you install it. This is not CARB Approved.

The sound of your exhaust is about the best I've heard from aftermarket. However, I kind of like the quiet of stock, but am more interested in the power/torque gains of the catted downpipe. I don't see in your videos any presentation of this product as a stand-alone change. How does the stock sound change with this combination? What power/torque gains does it provide from stock? And how about in combo with 5 Star tunes I would get with this?
Asked by:
Mark
- 11/21/2014
In general, you'll get a slight increase in overall volume with a smidge more drone at cruising due to the high-flow cats, but it actually won't change sound too much if you keep the factory cat-back system. As far as power gains, it's tough to say, because they're heavily dependent on your tune, available fuel octane, and your F150's drivetrain. Still, power gains of up to 100rwtq aren't out of the question, depending on tune, octane, and driveline.

I'm looking to get more turbo sound. I added a 4" Diamond Eye exhaust from you guys and it gave it some but had little more drone then I wanted so added a flow through resonator...which in turn slightly less drone but seemed to kill turbo sound from my exhaust. How much will these catted downpipes add for turbo sound AND also drone? Hoping to get the absolute most turbo noise without to much drone. What mods would you recommend to hear turbos without increase in exhaust volume (if any)
Asked by:
drh442
- 7/7/2015
I guess it kind of depends on what you mean by "turbo sound", if you're taking about getting a more noticeable spool sound or whine, then these downpipes can help, though they will increase the sound volume of your system and can add mild amounts of drone, though their cats help keep them pretty civilized. Unfortunately, it's extremely difficult if not outright impossible to find a cat-back/downpipe combination that preserves some whine while keeping drone down. Your best would be to call us directly at 1-877-578-2433 so we can get more specific with what you're looking for and what you have.

Would this have capability to fit the 2014 F150 V6 3.7L? Maybe with minor adjustments?
Asked by:
Bro D
- 11/4/2015
It won't at all. The downpipe will only fit 3.5L EcoBoost F150s, due to the fact it bolts onto the turbocharger's turbine housing.
