Old suspension was shot. This suspension is great. The ride is not at all to firm for me. I cycle it to a firmer ride when I want to drive more agressively in town. I cycle it a bit in rough conditions depending on bumps and speed. Firming it up definitely makes the steering more crisp and body sway reduces you do feel more of the road. In general I run it at about 4 up front and 6 in the back. Overall it is probably overkill but it performs great. No noises or downsides noted yet. Refer to all the install videos. I found that the best process was a combo of a few different techniques on different videos. Collect up the torque specs for all the parts and count on the tools listed as required to not be perfect. Happy customer.

2013 F150 supercab
Was pretty easy to put in, but getting out the stock struts that the bolts were seized were difficult to get out. Haven’t taken it off-road yet. But it was a major difference in suspension for the better.

Customer Question what is the difference between this kit and the stage 4 ? also have a 2011 f150 extended cab with 6.5ft bed what wheels and tires would you recommend if i added this kit along with some LCA's as well. lastly is it necessary to level truck if you add this kit ?

Asked by: Logan Kemp - 1/9/2021
Customer Answer The Stage 5 Kit comes with ICON's CDCV adjusters on the reservoirs, which allow you to adjust compression, while the Stage 4 does not. We do not have a specific tire size or type, much less a wheel. If you want to avoid all potential chances of trimming, we usually recommend a 33x11.50" tire or close metric equivalent. If you want more specific wheel and tire suggestions, give us a call directly at 623-434-5277 or email us at [email protected]. The front coilovers of this kit add front ride height/leveling to your truck on their own. If you want to keep some rake, you could always add a rear block, add-a-leaf, or an aftermarket leaf pack.

Customer Question I have a 2012 F150 Harley Davidson with a RC 4” lift kit. I’m really interested in the stage 5 but do u have to remove my RC lift or will it install normally? And if I have to remove it, do I have to install stick knuckles? Will 1” spacers fix this?

Asked by: Weirdo - 8/27/2018
Customer Answer You wouldn't have to remove your lift kit (and it's not really possible anyway without custom fab work). The good news is that the Rough Country lifts use 2" stacked blocks for the rear, and the rear shocks included in this kit will technically work at 2" of ride height over stock. That being said, if you're going to be using the Stage 5 kit to its full off-road potential, then stacked blocks really aren't that great of an idea, and you should probably look into doing a single 2" block/add-a-leaf combination instead. As for the front, you have a couple of options: 1). You can run the ICON coilovers at a 0" factory ride height and simply reuse the Rough Country Kit's strut spacer. 2). Set the ICON's up at 3" of ride height, just use them by themselves, and lose 1" of front lift. 3). Use the ICONs at their roughly 2.5" out-of-the-box ride height and add a 1.5" leveling kit on top of them to get to 4" of lift. Your only real issue with the front coilovers is that you may need to find a different mounting location for the remote reservoir, since I'm not sure if you'll have enough hose length to use the standard mounting position while running a lift kit.

Customer Question Will this kit work for my 2010 F150 with a 4in Rancho lift? I could be wrong but I believe the rear shocks would be ok since with a 4in lift, it's lifting the front 4in and back 2in since they come raked from the factory. Will the the front shocks work though?

Asked by: Tyler - 8/11/2018
Customer Answer It's really going to depend on how tall of a rear block your Racnho Kit uses. Their newer kits use a 4.5" rear block, which would be too tall. If your current lift uses a stacked 2" block, then you could potentially get away with using the ICON shocks. You can use the front coilovers, however, you'll either have to set them at a 0" factory ride height and use them in conjunction with the Rancho Strut Spacer, or you'll need to set them at their 3" ride height and just lose an inch worth of front height.

Customer Question Are there plans to do a Stage 5 ICON package with the newer Delta Joint UCA's?

Asked by: Tom - 8/30/2017
Customer Answer There hasn't been anything definitive on that as of yet. However, we could always put together a similar package using the new ICON Delta Joint arms if you give us a call directly at 623-434-5277.

Customer Question I have a 2012 SuperCrew Ecoboost 4x4. What is the total travel on this system? Would adding gas bump stops and limiting straps help with the endurance of the kit? How much would the Helwig anit-sway bars (front and rear) affect the performance of this system? I plan to run off road with the softer settings, and going to the track with the harder settings. Thank you for your time and patience with answering my questions.

Asked by: DocNOS - 8/4/2016
Customer Answer The front coilovers have a total shock travel of 5.4", but only add about an inch or two inches to factory wheel travel. Front wheel travel is limited by the CVs, tie rods, and LCAs and front limit straps aren't really necessary. As for rear bump stops, they're usually not required unless you're driving extremely aggressively off-road over rough terrain, especially if you're using aftermarket leaf packs or add-a-leaf kits that increase rear travel. Unfortunately, we don't have a lot of information on the Hellwig sway bars and how they effect travel or suspension performance, since we're not a Hellwig dealer.

Customer Question I have a 2014 f150 4wd with a 6 inch rough country lift. Will this ICON suspension system fit on my truck?

Asked by: Javier Johnson - 4/14/2016
Customer Answer It will not. For one, this kit only fits 2009-2013 F150s, since Ford changed the suspension in the 2014 models. Secondly, even if this kit were ICON's 2014 F150 Stage 5 System, it wouldn't fit the lift as a standalone system. The rear shocks aren't long enough to fit at all and you'd have to reuse the Rough Country Kit's strut spacer to fit the front coilovers. The ICON UCAs would fit just fine, however. The closest you could come to a similar system in a standalone application, would be to use BDS's Fox 2.5 Remote Reservoir Coilovers for 6" Lift Kits in conjunction with two Fox 2.0 Rear Shocks with CD Adjusters.

Customer Question This kit states the rear shocks can handle up to a 2 inch rear block but your recommendation and what I would want to do is put a 3 inch block. Will the 3 inch block allow the shocks to perform properly?

Asked by: Ronnie - 3/8/2016
Customer Answer The shocks can handle up to 2" of lift not a 2" rear block. You have to keep in mind that aftermarket blocks almost always require you to remove your truck's stock block, which gives you a net gain in rear lift. Since a 3" block replaces your stock block, you're getting a total of 1.5" of actual lift, which the shocks in this kit can handle just fine.

Customer Question Im looking to lift my new ecoboost 3". Will I need to swap out to new leaf springs or does the stage 5 icon kit just bolt in?

Asked by: tyler ecoboost - 4/21/2014
Customer Answer You don't need new leaf packs unless you're planning on doing some real crazy off-roading, but if you are going for a 3" lift all the way around, you will need a 3" block. This will give you roughly the same setup as our 5.0L Project Truck, though we only have our fronts set at about 2-3/4" rather than the full 3" that the coilovers are capable of.

Customer Question Which phase 1-5 would give me the best ride quality and towing? Look to keep the truck riding like factory or better. And does the icon shocks get stiffer if you lift them to 3"? And lastly how does the rear lift? Wouldn't I have to buy a block or new springs?

Asked by: Shawn 2013 F150 FX4 - 2/10/2014
Customer Answer The street ride for any of the ICON systems without adjustable CDCV valves is going to be a bit a stiffer than stock, however there is much less body roll and the truck definitely feels more planted. While not as smooth as stock, it's a bit like riding in a car with basic lowering springs. These kits don't come with anything to lift the rear of the truck, and a rear block would be your best bet. We'd recommend a 3" block as that gives the truck a pretty level and tough look.

As far as towing ride quality goes, it's hard to say and will really depend on what you're towing and how you're towing it. To be honest, if you're just using your truck for towing, then an ICON kit may be a bit overkill, as far as performance and ruggedness are concerned. Give us a call directly at 1-877-578-2433 and we'll see if we can get more specific for what you need and what you're doing with your truck.

Customer Question What would it take to fit a 35x12.5x18 tire using this kit? I reviewed your red project truck with the 33" General tires and it looks like there is room but I know its hard to gauge from a picture alone. Thank you.--Jer

Asked by: Jer, 2012 F150 Ecoboost SuperCrew 4WD - 1/29/2014
Customer Answer Icon sets these to 2.5 inches of lift when they leave the factory. On 2.5 inches you may have to cut the lower valance to clear 35s. However, if you get the spanner wrench, you can move these to 3 inches of lift and you should clear 35s very easily. You are correct, our project truck has plenty of room to clear our 33.2s and we are at 2.5 inches of lift.

Customer Question Do these come with protective boots for the rear shocks like the stage 1?

Asked by: Jeff 2013 FX4 - 10/28/2013
Customer Answer Icon only makes shock boots in 2.0 inch. They do not make a boot for the 2.5 inch rear piggy back shocks. You can order the 2.0 boots and cut the top of the boot to fit over the 2.5 shocks. Some aftermarket companies, like daystar, make 2.5 boots but they are usually too long and will bind up.
