NGK is one of the top names in the aftermarket spark plug world and their Iridium IX series are some of the best-performing and most reliable spark plugs on the market. Each of these plugs are built to last, resisting corrosion all while delivering a clean, powerful spark for your truck's engine. The NGK Iridium IX spark plugs are an excellent choice for replacing OEM spark plugs and getting improve performance for your 2011 to 2017 F150 with a factory heat range.
High-Quality Iridium Tip and Corrosion-Resistant Design
The NGK Iridium IX spark plugs are named after their .6 mm laser-welded iridium tip that delivers a powerful arc while being highly resistant to corrosion and fouling. My truck was missing under high acceleration, and it was getting terrible fuel economy. I changed the spark plugs, and no more missing and fuel economy is back up.

I started having shuttering a few months ago like it was skipping every time I would take off. I ordered these plugs in leu of the factory plugs and boy did she wake up! Can feel the power back no more skipping! Also my old plugs were gapped around .42ish and with my tuned and everything else I've done I followed Stage 3 recommendations using .30 and that's all it took! I recommend these to all Ecoboost owners out there! Also if you haven't replaced your plugs for the first time yet be prepared to buy some coil boots I found them at Oreileys for 30 dollars a boot.

The order arrived on time, installed with a new set of Motorcraft coils. I gapped the plugs to .32, before I installed plugs and new coils I had a ruffidle (miss fire) and was getting 16.2 MPG after plugs and new coils I'm have no miss fire and get 17.7 city and 19 to 20 HWY trips 1 hour or less. Very happy with improvement. Please note oil is at 63 percent will be changing tomorrow and new air filter. However this was a great improvement. Looking to do O2 Spenser's next with cold air intake and exhaust. Oh by the way truck has 113000 on it and I burn supper gas (Shell) in it.

Ran these in multiple ecoboost trucks that my family has and they are hands down way better than motorcraft plugs, only able to get 15-25k on motor craft plugs and economy is down, has the shudder and idles rough again, switched to these NGKs and got 35k on one of the sets and still running awesome like when I put them in.

Great Spark plugs! I replaced my stock plugs at 120k with an exhaust and a tuner on my truck. The stock plugs became so bad the truck would start to miss if it went over 1800rpm. I gapped the new NGK plugs to 0.30 with an easy install and the truck runs better than it ever did before.

Plugs seem well made and the gap spacing was consistent. I gaped them down to .028 as suggested by my tuner. I'm not sure about using anti-seize with these, as I've heard NGK's don't need them, but my mechanic was adamant on that you had to use it since the motor has an aluminum head. Beware... your stock plugs will probably be very hard to get out. I had one that the ceramic cracked of while trying to remove it which is why I let this be my mechanics headache.

Do these plugs come pregapped at .30 that’s what I’m looking for I’m full bolt on and tuned
Asked by:
Zach Casalenuovo

They are not pre-gapped. These plugs are generally gapped at .043" out of the box. As long as you carefully bend the electrode without touching the tip, these plugs can be regapped down to .030" without issues.

With the 6509 plugs on my 14 ecoboost with only a tune, what coils should I run?
Asked by:

You can run OEM coils or any OEM replacement coils that don't require colder plugs. We've been pretty happy with
Accel's SuperCoils
, but the choice is really up to you.

Do you recommend the 6509 or 6510 for a 2014 F150 3.5L Eco with K&N CAI63 using a Diablo I-1000 tuner? I'll also be ordering Corsa exhaust, StainlessWorks downpipes, & catch can; eventually/probably getting a intercooler & charge pipe.
Asked by:

The 6509s would be fine for what you're tuning. In general, we usually only recommend the 6510s for water-meth applications or upgraded turbochargers.

Asked by:
Jim
- 7/1/2015
If you're not tuned, and just adding bolt-ons, then the gap can be set at around .034" without issues. However, we recommend gapping down to .030" anyway, just in case you do tune down the road.

I've got the Livewire tuner for my 2013 EB. I switch back and forth between the performance tune and stock. Any issues if I have them gapped down to .030 when I am running it stock?
Asked by:
Likmisak
- 12/18/2014
You won't have any issues running these plugs gapped at .030" with the factory tuning. That .032" to .034" are the maximum gap you want with a factory tuning, but going down slightly lower for swapping between tunes will be just fine.

I have a 2012 F-150 EB. It's missing and I want to change the spark plugs. Should I go Ford MS or NGK? Do they come gapped? What do you suggest for bone stock? Also, What changes can I make to improve the MPG?
Asked by:

- 11/21/2014
You should always go for the plugs that your tuner recommends. 5-Star prefers the
Motorcraft SP-534s
gapped down to .030". If you're running the stock tune, then you can choose these or the SP-534s, just make sure to gap them to .032" to .034".

Asked by:
Antonio
- 10/13/2014
Probably none, unless your current plugs are extremely worn. These plugs don't add performance, they allow your truck's engine to run at its best after you make modifications so it doesn't miss or lose power under high-boost conditions.

What would you recommend on a stock tuned truck? NGK or the Ford Motorcraft plugs?
Asked by:
Justin 2011 Ecoboost
- 4/27/2014
Either would work, though if your truck's tuned, you should go with the plug (and gap) recommended by your tuner. 5-Star is pretty adamant about the Motorcraft plugs, while others will swear up and down by the NGKs. Frankly, I think either choice is perfectly acceptable.

Asked by:
Sam Becker 2013 F150 EcoBoost

Nope. Your tuning should be fine. Just make sure to properly gap them down depending on whether or not you're running an aftermarket tune. For stock tuning, gap to .034". For performance tuning gap down to at least .030", or to your custom tuner's recommended specs.
