Customer Question Is an aftermarket BOV recommended for these on a 2016 3.5? The power max says I would need an upgrade. Unless a BOV is needed for performance, I don't care to have one. Thanks.

Customer Answer You can run the stock BOV on both this kit as well as the Powermax kit.

Customer Question What is the difference between these and the Garrett Power Max Turbos?

Customer Answer Ford Performance uses Borg Warner units in their kit so it is different casings than Garrett. Both kits have very similar larger housings and more efficient compressor wheels so performance will be very similar. Custom tuning is recommended for both for optimum performance. On the part side Ford Performance includes a full set of turbo adapters, gaskets, o-rings and hardware to mount the turbos in their kit.

Customer Question Do I need anything else to upgrade my turbos

Customer Answer If you're upgrading from stock turbochargers, you'll also need tuning. Replacement gaskets and studs are also highly recommended, since it's generally not possible to save the OEM stuff when removing the stock turbos.

Customer Question Is this kit capable of producing more power than the power max kit you offer that says it's capable of supporting 600hp and is that reference to rwhp or chp?

Customer Answer They are not. That being said, while the Powermax turbos are "capable" of hitting 600hp, you would need massive fueling improvements in order to hit that number (i.e. higher-flow injectors, higher-capacity HPFP, and higher-flow in-tank pump). These turbos will push your truck to the limits of its stock fueling, which is around 450ish horsepower at the tires, though you'd need other supporting mods.

Customer Question What is the hp limitations of these turbos

Customer Answer Theoretically, these turbos can support up to 600ish crank horsepower. However, the 2013-2016 F150s run out of fuel capacity long before that, and you would need higher-flow injectors, tank fuel pump, HPFP, full exhaust, every other bolt-on on the market, and one heck of a tune to hit that number on an F150. Realistically, these turbos and a good tune can get to the 450-470 rwhp mark with good fuel and ambient conditions.

Customer Question Can this turbo or the other kit work with a 2019 f150, and if not, why not? What is the restriction I will run into?

Customer Answer These turbos will not work on the 2017-2020 trucks. Ford made changes in the exhaust manifolds, turbo positioning, and a few other things.

Customer Question What spark plugs would you recommend with this kit? And what gap?

Customer Answer If it were my truck, I would use the NGK 6510s, since they are a colder heat range. In general gap ought to be .028" to .030", but your best bet would be to consult your tuner.

Customer Question Should pistons be upgraded

Customer Answer They don't have to be. The only potential thing you may want to look at is an upgraded in-tank fuel pump, since these turbos can take your motor to the limits of its fueling (depending on your tuning). It is a good idea to do a compression test and a general engine once-over before dropping these on just to make sure you don't currently have any issues that the turbos would make catastrophic.

Customer Answer You have a few options for tuning, and some email tuners support DiabloSport on the F150s. You can also get a tune on a local chassis dyno. Your best bet would be to give us a call directly at 623-434-5277 for possible tuning options.

Customer Answer That's going to depend entirely on what octane your using, what custom tuning you're going to use, your other modifications, and a lot of other factors. These turbos are capable of pushing the factory fuel system to its maximum horsepower limits with the right combination of modifications. Your best bet would be to call us directly at 623-434-5277 so we can get more specific about your truck and your plans.
