Recon lighting package
Lights all look fantastic, but have been disappointed with the lighting ability of the reg low beams, regardless of there claims they don't seem to put out nearly as much light as the stock setup. Also adjusting the beam path is time consuming and hard to do as have to remove lights to get to it. I have also had troubles with the halos not working 100% of the time especially after rain or dampness, and yes I insolated the connections! Tail light also look outstanding. only issue I had on install was the driver side light- the top bolt hole did not line up very well and I kinda had to force it, witch now is not a problem but fear will come one with bulb change is needed for rev light. All and all products look perfect but for the money would like to see a little more function

2013 Ford Raptor
Product from a quality stand point was well designed and seemed to be made of quality components for the head lights and tail lights but the third brake light was a step below the other two items. The head lights and tail lights were completely sealed, the third brake light had a thin piece of plastic covering the components in the back. Kinda tacky and a bit lazy I felt in the manufacturing process. As far as directions they were no where close to what was required on my truck for the front head lights or the third brake light. I had to trouble shoot and research on the net. The rear tail lights were just plug and play. Over all I am very happy with the purchase just keep in mind that not everyone is going to be able to figure out the wiring by themselves. I am a construction electrician and I have also worked on cars all my life.

Easy to install and looks great. The only thing I did different was that the bulbs that came with the headlights were not very bright so I switched them out for brighter ones.

I love these lights. The illumination is far better than the stock lights, especially on full beam, and the LED and CCFL accents are awesome. The smoke look adds to the distinctive look of my truck. They were very easy to install, although you will need metric sockets to remove the stock lamp on the F150. You also have to remember that each headlight needs 5 red Dorman (red ones are 18-22 gauge) quick connectors (or similar - these are the ones shown in the instructions) to gang the LED wires to each other and then in turn to the CCFL wires (2 for black, and 2 for white), then one to the sidelights, so don't start the job before getting enough of them. When fitting the third brake light, the colour of the wires in my truck didn't match the description in the instructions, but there was no problem with fitting it, and figuring out the wiring. Slight drawback for me was that this light doesn't seem as bright, and doesn't light the bed up as well as the stock light, but the tradeoff in appearance is worth it. Remember, you will need 18-22 gauge pig nuts or quick connectors here too. The rear lights were very simple to attach, and look great too. The wing mirror signal lights seem more involved, as you have to tear down the mirror assembly to remove the stock reflectors, which I have yet to do, but those will be the final details that will give my truck that stealthy aggressive look that I wanted.

Installation for the entire set was easy. Shame that you have to give up the RED Alert for the third taillight. If you are looking to still have some light coming from the third taillight to illuminate the bed, I wouldn't recommend it as the smoked body barely allows any light to filter through. I had to get in contact with Recon twice for issues with the headlight assembly as the wires that connected the inverter to the CCFL came apart and I had to replace the connectors with butt connectors. Not mad about it, only as long as Recon is keeping their promise to not void the warranty if anything else goes wrong that requires the set to be sent to them. The LEDs are pretty weak on the taillights. Projectors were kind of a pain to adjust. Screw holes did not line up on most of the lights front and back. Quality seems pretty cheap (thin plastic). But it looks good, and everything works.

Customer Question I have a 2012 F150 xlt with stock lights. Does the kit come with all the required parts and contents, as well as with any how-to's?

Asked by: lp - 1/22/2019
Customer Answer All of the lights included in this package are bolt-on replacements for stock and reuse the factory hardware. The headlights and the third brake light require a minor amount of wiring, but nothing crazy. Instructions should be included, though you can also use any of our install videos as a reference.

Customer Question Will these fit my 2013 f150 3.7 regular cab and what else would I need to make my headlights bright ? I'm new to this sorry

Asked by: Oscar - 2/26/2017
Customer Answer As long as your truck has base halogen reflector headlights from the factory and not the OEM Bi-Xenon HID Projectors, then this package will fit your truck just fine.

Customer Question I have stock HID headlights in my 2014 Raptor will the headlights fit right in?If not what all would have to do in order for them to fit and work properly?

Asked by: Jack Keslar - 12/12/2016
Customer Answer The headlights will not fit on Raptors with factory Bi-Xenon HID headlights without extensive custom wiring. You'd also be downgrading from HIDs to halogens, which would result in a reduction in light output.

Customer Question Are these plug and play for a my 2012 F150 platinum? Not sure if i have HID's.....if i need to rewire them to work?? thanks

Asked by: Mike - 7/7/2016
Customer Answer The headlights for this kit will only fit F150s with halogen reflector headlights. Most 2012 Platinums came stock with base headlights, and the headlights in this package will work with your truck without major rewiring, though there is some amount of spicing required to get the LEDs running. The 3rd brake light requires wiring on all models, due to the fact that Ford patented the third brake light connector, because they're no fun. The taillights are an easy plug-and-play, drop-in upgrade.

Customer Question will these lights also fit an f150 lariat 2013?

Asked by: Lori - 1/23/2016
Customer Answer The taillights and third brake light will definitely fit, however, the headlights will only fit 2013 F150s that have standard stock halogen reflector headlights and WILL NOT fit 2013 F150s that have upgraded Bi-Xenon Projector HID Headlights.

Customer Question I own a 2013 ford f-150 Tonka. Will this package deal work on my truck? I already have the truck customized by Tuscany and want to be sure they will fit right in. Thanks

Asked by: Patrick - 1/12/2016
Customer Answer It's my understanding that most of the Tonka Edition F150s came standard with HID Bi Xenon Projector Headlights, which means that the headlights included in the kit will not work out of the box without extensive custom wiring, and would kind of be a downgrade over what you currently have. The taillights and third brake light should work just fine, however.

Customer Question Does this come with the custom wiring kit to outfit for a 2013 Platinum that has the factory HID lights? If not, how much additional?

Asked by: Chad Perkins - 1/8/2016
Customer Answer It will not. The headlights will require custom wiring in order to work with the Bi-Xenon HID headlights of the 2013-2014 Platinum trucks. There is not currently a kit to "downgrade" the stock HIDs to a dual-lens halogen system.

Customer Question I have a 2014 with the reflector headlamps, this looks like a simple enough install. What effect will this have on my warranty?

Asked by: Gary - 11/27/2015
Customer Answer In general, bolt-on cosmetic components like the headlights, taillights, and third brake light won't effect your warranty in any way, as long as the wiring work is done competently. However, all warranty decisions are up to individual dealerships, and your best bet would be to talk to your service center about what leeway they give in regards to aftermarket parts.

Customer Question I have a 2013 F-150 XLT 3.5L EcoBoost. I know my truck does not have Day Time Running Lights but would I be able to wire the LEDs on the headlights to be DTRLs?

Asked by: Rob - 6/7/2015
Customer Answer If your truck doesn't have DRLs, then you wouldn't be able to tie them anywhere to get that sort of functionality. However, if you want the LEDs to stay on almost constantly, then you could drop their wiring into one of your fuses, so that they're constantly on when you first start your truck. That being said, the standard parking light wiring job will make the be on the majority of the time you're using your F150.

Customer Question can i use aftermarket hid bulbs with these headlights?

Asked by: Josh W. - 5/27/2015
Customer Answer You can, however, the headlights use an H1-style bulb, so you would need an H1 HID conversion kit in order to get it to work, instead of a stock F150 H13 conversion kits.

Customer Question Could we do this same package in clear? Also what's the quality difference between these lights and AnzoUSA's?

Asked by: Drew - 5/9/2015
Customer Answer We can put together a similar package using Recon's lights with clear lenses and chrome housings. You'd just need to call us directly at 1-877-578-2433, so we could do a custom order. Anzo and Recon are very similar quality-wise, and we rarely have issues with Recon's lights. However, Recon has a much better warranty and is quicker to address issues when they come up.

Customer Question Are these lights brighter than the stock 2013 f-150 platinum lights?

Asked by: Stephen - 4/2/2015
Customer Answer The low beams won't be, since the Platinum trucks came with Bi-Xenon HIDs, and Recon's headlights use halogens as standard. You can get roughly equivalent output by doing an aftermarket HID H1 conversion kit, depending on the brand.

Customer Question Are these lights legal in Texas? Will they pass the Texas state safety inspection?

Asked by: Nick - 1/20/2015
Customer Answer I'm not certain what the Texas safety inspection entails, and it's my understanding that ordinances differ county to county. That being said, all of these lights are DOT and NHTSA approved for street use, so your best bet would be to contact your local DMV/MVD and see if the DOT approval supersedes state regulations.

Customer Question Will there be splicing and reconnecting for non-projector headlights on my 2011 XLT F150?

Asked by: SCT F-150 - 1/14/2015
Customer Answer You will need to do some amount of wiring for the LED halos and strips, but you won't need to do the same amount of splicing and reconnecting of the high and low beam harnesses.
Was this answer helpful?  0 of 0  Found Helpful.
Answer provided by: Jason@Stage3 (1/14/2015)

Customer Question Will this plug directly to all wiring harnesses from a stock 2014 f-150 STX. Really liking the look but not wanting to cut anything to void warranty. Also if I buy this complete package does the reverse LED come or is it still sold separately?

Asked by: Gene - 1/6/2015
Customer Answer The taillights are plug and play, however, the headlights will require the LED halos and strip to be wired into a 12V source of your choice, and the third brake light requires a complete rewiring job, as Ford owns the patent on its connector. Reverse LEDs are not included in this kit, but are available here.

Customer Question simple plug and bolt up to 2011 f150 lariat eco? i dont have HIDs

Asked by: tony - 9/15/2014
Customer Answer The taillights are totally plug-and-play, easy-peasy. The third brake light requires some splicing, due to the fact that Ford has a patent on the connector. Strange, but true. The headlights are fairly plug and play, except for the wiring for the LED strip and halos, which needs to be tapped into wherever you want, though most folks choose the parking lights.
