Rancho RS9000XL Shock
I put these Rancho RS9000XL shocks on my new 2013 Ford F150 4x4 Ecoboost to go with my Rancho Quicklift for the front of my F150. I love the adjustability of these rear shocks. They have awesome fit & finish. Buying from Stage 3 Motorsports was a very good experience. I found out about Stage 3 Motorsports, and the Rancho items I purchased from f150ecoboost.net . I'm very happy, and plan on making future purchases with Stage 3 Motorsports.

The RS9000XL shocks are a nice improvement over the stock shocks. I have them set on 5 and it seems like a great all around setting for daily. I pulled a 5K pound trailer right after getting them and moved the setting to 8. They worked great. Be sure to install them with the cylinder down because they will not function properly upside down. Rancho makes a great product and Stage3 brings extraordinary customer service. Prices were great and delivery very fast.

The shocks were easy to to install. Less than an hour. We pull a travel trailer and the shocks really helped to eliminate porpoising. It was nice to be able to dial in the amount of dampening required, Like having 2 sets of shocks in one. We used setting 8 for pulling the TT and 3 for everyday use. Glad we got them!

Poorly engineered product. Drove for almost 1000 miles on them before switching back to OEM shocks. Drivers side shock would clunk on most bumps. Passenger side developed a clunk soon thereafter. I will attempt to get replaced or returned.

Shocks work great with the Rancho Quicklift on the front. After I got the rears installed I could tell a huge difference in the ride and drive. Even my wife noticed it and believe me she doesn't notice things like that.

Installed both rear shocks in under 1 hour without even removing the rear wheels or putting the truck on a jack. I would recommend installing the boots prior to installing the shocks on your rig. Once the boots are installed I would install the top mount first as it will be easier to manipulate the shock to get the lower mount lined up. We have not put hardly any miles on these so it's hard to speak to performance. It's a noticeably better ride than the factory shocks but we have not had the time or conditions to put the RS 9000's through the paces just yet. Stage 3 shipping and customer service was awesome.

I have had these on for maybe 35, 000 miles. Installed them with the Rancho Quick Lift. These shocks blew the upper seals and bleed out. Mind you that I do not do any off roadng. At the worst I will drive a fire road. I would not recommend these shocks. The Quick Lift was a great fit and I have had no problems at all with them.

Junk, after 2 weeks, the drivers side shock broke at the top shock mount, the weld broke away from the shock mount. This was regular road driving, no off-roading done. These however were a nice shock compared to the OEM shocks, a very noticeable difference in ride .

I installed a pair of these in leveling struts a few years ago and liked them so when one of my rear shocks went bad it was a no-brainer. It improved the ride quality of my truck. When I hook a trailer up I just adjust the shocks a little stiffer and it’s good to go.

Customer Question The Price set is for one shock correct?

Asked by: Chris C - 8/22/2019
Customer Answer Yep. This part number and price number is for a single shock.

Customer Question I want to buy this shock for the rear of my 2015 F150 FX4 4x4 3.5l EB with a 3" block in the rear. What is the correct part number for this setup?

Asked by: Chibullsan - 5/29/2017
Customer Answer In theory, the version of the Rancho RS9000XL for 1-4" Lifts would actually be your better choice, though this shock could potentially handle the 1.5"-ish rear lift provided by a 3" rear block.

Customer Question In regards to my last question about the 2-2.5" blocks...is this shock technically longer than the stock shocks? I ask because I have seen on other posts that you don't recommend 2.5" blocks or above on the stock shocks if you do offroading because the shock will be maxed out for travel. If I get 2.5" blocks with this shock and do offroading, will it be ok?

Asked by: Ken - 8/30/2016
Customer Answer If the shock is longer than stock, it's not by much, however, they do have measurably more travel than the factory shocks, which is why they'll be fine if you're swapping a 2.5" block out for your factory block, because you'll technically only have a net gain of 1" of rear ride height, which even the stock shocks can handle. However, if you are stacking blocks, then you should absolutely go with the Rancho RS999287s, since you'll be adding a full 2.5" of ride height to your truck (though we don't recommend stacking blocks).

Customer Question I have a 2016 F150 4x4. I am looking to add 2 or 2.5" blocks. Will these shocks work with them or would I be better off with the RS999287?

Asked by: Ken - 8/28/2016
Customer Answer That really depends on what you're doing. If you're replacing your stock block with a 2" or 2.5" block, then this shock (RS999384) will work just fine, as they can handle that much lift pretty easily. If you're stacking blocks (which we don't recommend at all), then you'd be better off with the RS999287s for 1-4" of lift.

Customer Question 2012 f150 offroad package 4x4. 10 ply tires & rear air bags. (Trailer within both bed wt and towing max) Never used offroad! Used both for normal street driving and extensive pulling of 9000# 5th wheel rv. 2 of 3 times in 30k miles withe 5th wheel shocks allowed way too much munch bounce to be safe. The 10 ply tires and air bags when inflated increase spring rate thus need higher damping from shocks. I like the adjustable damping rate....is this the best option? Thanks

Asked by: Gary - 8/13/2016
Customer Answer These shocks would likely help, especially on a street/towing truck. You could jump their stiffness up while towing to keep your load under control, and then adjust them softer for regular street driving, so they definitely wouldn't be a bad choice.

Customer Question I noticed that the part number for these is RS999384. When I look up a 2015 F150 4x4 on the Rancho site, it recommends RS999287. Which is the correct size? What's the difference?

Asked by: Ken - 6/21/2016
Customer Answer Ranch Part# RS999287 is actually only meant for trucks with a 4" lift kit. This shock is meant for trucks that are at stock or near-stock ride heights.

Customer Question I have a 2016 f150 platinum 4WD v6 EB, and want to change the shocks because the OEM are too bouncy in the highway, i mainly use it on-road at high speed, i was thinking about the rancho rs9000 quick lift and the rs9000 for the rear, but you also have the fox 2.0 leveling kit with the rears... what do you suggest? is the difference in price worth it? i like the rancho 9 level settings, but never have a fox, so i don't know what to do.... thanks for your time and comments

Asked by: rodolfo - 4/6/2016
Customer Answer Frankly, we'd recommend doing Fox 2.0s all the way around. The Rancho QuickLifts tend to sag after a while, which can cause you to lose around 1/4" to a 1/2" of ride height, and the RS9000XLs can be kind of a pain to dial in, especially if you have a multi-purpose truck or if you do any off-roading. If you have a pure street truck, then the Ranchos will probably be fine. While the Fox coilovers and rear shocks are a bit more pricey, you'll end up with a better all-around, multi-application suspension system.

Customer Question Will these rear shocks work with the ready lift 3" rear blocks?

Asked by: Jesse - 2/24/2015
Customer Answer They will work with a 3" rear block, however, they're right at the edge of their valving, so if you're planning on doing a lot of high-articulation off-roading, then you may want to consider another shock option.

Customer Question do these shocks come with the red boots that are seen on pic where there installed on the truck? If I install the ready lift 3inch blocks on my 4wd truck for 1.5inches of lift will these shocks have enough range to handle that amount of lift?

Asked by: Brian - 11/9/2014
Customer Answer They do come with boots. While these shocks could technically handle a 3" block, it would push them to the limits of their valving, which could be problematic if you do any off-roading where you'd fully articulate. You might be better off with another shock option, if that's the case.

Customer Question Hello team. Do you also sell the front shocks for the same type of suspension? Would love to order them from you in a single shipment. Thanks

Asked by: Abdulrahman - 8/22/2014
Customer Answer We do have the RS9000XL Front Struts here. However, Rancho does not have a set yet for 2014 F150s and we currently only list the shocks for F150s at stock ride height. If need a strut for a lift kit, please give us a call directly at 1-877-578-2433.
