Complete Front and Rear Gear Package with Quality Components
If you want to get back some pep, acceleration and power band after adding bigger tires onto your aggressive F150 build, then adding a set of 4.11 gears to your F150 is the way to go. Make sure to get everything you need for your F150's 4.11 gear swap with this awesome Complete Front and Rear 4.11 Gear Package. This near-total driveline overhaul comes with a set of Yukon 4.11 front ring-and-pinion gears and a set of Yukon 4.11 rear-and-pinion gears, as well as Yukon Master Install Kits for both the front and rear ends of your truck so that you replace all the critical wearable components of your F150's differentials while getting the high-quality gears your F150 needs to operate at its very best. Yukon's ring-and-pinion gears are some of the strongest and toughest in the business, and will let your awesome F150 build tackle and terrain or challenge that you have in mind. 4.11s make for an excellent upgrade over factory gearing and can help add some sprightliness back to your F150 after you've jumped up to larger tires.
High-Quality Ring-and-Pinion Gears with Precise Machining and Lapping
Yukon's front and rear 4.11 gears are made using some of the strongest gear steel on the market and are precisely machined for a perfect fit and quiet operation. Each ring-and-pinion gear set is manufactured out of forged, triple-alloy 8620 gear steel that's incredibly strong and can handle both high levels of horsepower and torque, as well as intense off-road applications without letting you or your F150 down. Both the ring and pinion gears are precisely machined by Yukon to ensure perfect fitment in your truck. All of the gear teeth go through an ultra-precise, computer-controlled lapping process that ensures a smooth engagement between the ring and pinion gears so that you get reduced noise and flawless operation in practically any condition or application. Both the front 8.8 IFS and rear 9.75" gear kits drop right into place of your F150's stock gearing with the help of Yukon's install kits.
Complete Install Kits with Shims, Bearings, Races, and Other Hardware
Yukon's front and rear Master Install Kits come with everything you need to get your gears installed and running perfectly. Each Master Install Kit comes with both carrier and pinion shims for getting the perfect gear mesh. These kits also include high-quality Timken bearings and races, seals, pinion nuts, marking compounds, and everything else you need for your front and rear gear installs. Yukon's Master Install Kits let you replace the tired-out differential components with new and high-quality components that ensure reliable and smooth gear operation for years to come.

2014 Ford F-150 3.5L Platinum 4x4
Just regeared to this with a front locker and rear duratrac on 34's from 3.31's. I lost a tiny bit of acceleration which is not noticeable but gained tons of power with no decrease in MPG (tuned). If you want to go with 4.11's, this is your kit right here. Either way you WILL need the master install kits. My installer who has 30 years of experience would not have been able to complete the regear without them and one bearing in the front was toast and you need the bolts for the rear. Speaking of which I am not sure why the front kit did not come with new bolt for the front carrier but it was slightly disappointing. I also highly recommend having your installer drill and tap a 1/4 drain plug in the front diff for easy fluid change as the front diff takes around 4-6 hours to pull. Lastly I was slightly disappointed in Yukons packaging. The gears were fine but both install kits were terribly packages and all the parts were tossed around in the box. I went from 1500 RPM's at 70 MPH to 1900 RPM's at 70...

I am very happy with the quality of gears. No issues with the install no noise. The only issue I had was that I was a little disappointed at not come with a new ring gear bolts for the rear set. I do not like reusing them but had no choice

Can this kit fit a 2023 XLT 5.0L? I currently have 3.31 gears factory and running 33's, my drive includes standard commute and the weekend haul of my boat… mainly doing it for the boat than anything so it makes it easier..
Asked by:
Randy
- 7/19/2023
As long as your 2023 XLT F150 is a 4wd truck with the 9.75" rear end, this kit will work no problem. If you are not sure, give us a call at 623.434.5277 and speak to one of our sales techs and we can help get it figured out.

2020 F150 XLT. 5.0 w/ 10 speed auto. 3.31 gears with factory electronic rear locker. Rough Country 6 inch suspension lift. Running 35x1250s on 17" Raptor wheels. Will this work with the factory locker? Also, how low of a gear can I go with before a carier change is required?
Asked by:
Richard
- 11/3/2022
This gear package will work fine with the factory e-locker. In theory, you can use 5.13s with the factory carrier. For 35s, you don't need to go that short.

13' 5.0 with 3.55 gears trying to move 35's just hasn't been great for me. I do mostly highway driving and minor towing but get up in go is so slow. 0-40 is so sluggish and the truck has to rev out so much to get going. Should I go with 4.11's or 4.56's for daily use I've heard 4.56 will keep these trucks in high rpms going highway speeds and I tend to move around 80 most of the time but the truck right now is constantly shifting from 6th to 5th.
Asked by:
Steve
- 6/30/2022
4.11s would probably be fine for 35" tires, especially if you're going to add a tune as well. You could potentially jump up to 4.56s, but you're going to really hurt your truck's highway fuel economy, especially above 65mph. If you're towing extremely heavy or often, 4.11s would probably be the better bet.

I have a 2013 f150 with the 5.0, I currently run a 35-inch tire and the truck is very sluggish low end, I have 3.73's and get avg of 13.8 mpg with a tune but its just not enough. I occasionally tow anywhere from 4000lbs to 8500lbs. I'd like to have the ability of going to a 37-inch tire if I want. Wondering if 4.11's or 4.56's would be a better route.
Asked by:
Michael
- 6/19/2022
You should probably go with 4.56s, if not 4.88s, especially if you're considering jumping up to 37" tires in the future. You'll take a hit in highway fuel economy, but going from 3.73s to 4.11s isn't that big of a jump, and if you're planning to go with an even bigger tire in the future, you may want to plan ahead.

I currently have 3.55 ELD in my 2013 fx4 eco. It's tuned and has mild upgrades as well. 3in lift with 35's. off the line is ok but would like more pep in my step... Would you guys recommend 3.73 or 4.11?
Asked by:
Jon
- 3/22/2022
If you're on 35s (especially 35x12.50s), then you should probably go with 4.11s, as long as you're okay with the fuel economy hit. 3.73s aren't that huge of a jump over the 3.55s, and you'll probably get closer to what you want with 4.11s.

Will this fit my 2021 F-150 Power Boost FX4 max tow package?
Asked by:
Zachary
- 1/31/2022
Unfortunately, we do not have an outright fitment confirmation on the 2021 F150s as of yet. While we believe that the trucks use the same 9.75" rear and 8.8" IFS as previous years, we have not been able to confirm whether all the bearings/crush sleeves/pinion angles remain the same. We'll hopefully have a fitment confirmation here soon.

I have a 2016 F150 3.5 eco, I have tuned it and added a lot of addons. I have not lifted it, but I plan on lowering it. I don't do much hauling and am looking to make it faster on the drag strip. I have already dropped the tires down to 18s and I have meth injection. would it be better to go with 4.11 or a 4.56? I don't care about fuel millage at this point just a faster time and better acceleration.
Asked by:
joshua
- 8/24/2021
If you're not worried about fuel economy or having touchy acceleration, then 4.56 would probably be the way to go, especially if you're trying to get better times.

I have a 2019 f150 with 6in rough country lift and 37x13.50r22 mts with 3.31 what gears would you recommend to make it back to stock
Asked by:
Charlie Lanier
- 3/27/2021
You're never going to get entirely back to stock, since adding more aggressive gearing will hurt your fuel economy, especially at highway cruising. If you're trying to win back stock-like acceleration, I would probably argue that you'd need at least 4.56s with that big of a tire, and maybe even 4.88s if you're not going to do a performance tune on the truck.

I have a 2017 F-150 Limited with a stock gear ratio of 3.31 with the 10 speed transmission and the 3.5 EcoBoost with engine upgrades and tuned. I installed a 8” lift with 37x13.5s and I’m looking at either 4.11 or 4.56 gears with the Eaton Truetrac in the rear so that on the highway it’s not downshifting all the time. I travel at least 20k a year and don’t take it off-roading much so which gears are recommended?
Asked by:
Brian Stein
- 8/23/2020
If you're going to be spending most of your time on-highway, you should probably stick with 4.11s to save some of your fuel economy, which will take a ding from going from 3.31s. You could go with 4.56s to get some more acceleration and response, but you may not like the fuel economy hit.

I'm currently running 3.31's in my 2018 3.5 Ecoboost, and according to the formula of "new tire size X old gear ratio / old tire size" I should be running 3.55 gears (equation came out to 3.44, but 3.55 is the closest). The chart shown at the bottom of the S3M gears pages shows 3.91/4.11/4.27 gears are optimal for my 33" (305/55R/20) tires. Is there a reason why there's a bit of a difference between the formula and the chart?
Asked by:
Daemon Tate
- 4/21/2020
Any chart or calculator is really only going to give you a general idea of what gears you should choose. All vehicles have different power bands and torque curves, and both charts and formulas only exist to give you a general idea of what you should shoot for to get back to near-stock acceleration and torque curves (much less actually getting more pep). I believe our chart is for older 5.4L trucks specifically. In the case of the 3.5L EcoBoosts, these trucks don't really have much of a torque curve, so much as a bunch of torque until they get heat-soaked in upper RPM ranges. In general, for a fairly small jump in tire size (up to 33s), your much more cost-effective bet would be to get a tune or a custom tune, unless you're trying to do something specific.

I have a 2015 3.5 that currently has 355 w/ blocker. I pull a 25ft toyhauler at 10k wet/loaded. I'm on kings w/ 305-70r17 tires. Would 411 or 456 put me back to stock ratio with my tires? I plan on 315/70 next set. And will I be able to retain my locker
Asked by:
Aaron
- 3/21/2020
By the math, you would 4.11s would get you closest to your truck's OEM final drive ratio (though still a smidge higher). That being said, if you're not currently running a custom tune, you may want to try that first. This gear set will allow you to reuse your stock eLocker.

I rotate between 35s and 37s all the time. What gears would you recommend, I have stock gears on the truck with a 7 lift.
Asked by:
Dane
- 2/23/2020
That somewhat depends on what motor you have in your truck and how much fuel economy you're willing to lose to get acceleration. If you have a 5.0L, 3.7L, or 6.2L V8 truck then you may be better off with 4.56s. EcoBoosts or 3.0L diesels don't have their torque curves thrown off by big tires quite as badly, so 4.11s would probably be fine. Your best bet would be to call us directly at 623-434-5277 so we can get more specific about what you have and what you're looking for.

I have 2016 f150 5.0 6speed transmission and 3.55 ratio. I do live in Poland (Europe) where no one knows how to tune transmission for different shifting or speedometer. The issue is I would like go with 34's and obtain a bit more power in due to towing time to time 9500pound trailer with boat. The plan is to regear it with 4.11 ratio but may be you would have a different option. By the way how would the tune work for this truck and is there any possibility to buy a "chip" or tuner to do it by myself? Thanx

4.11s will likely be fine for 34" tires. 4.56s would get you more acceleration and mechanical leverage for towing, but your fuel economy at cruising speeds will tank pretty hard. As for tuning, you have a ton of different options. We generally recommend
5-Star's custom tuning
, but there's also no reason why couldn't go with
Pre-Loaded Tunes from Edge, SCT, or Hypertech
. All of these options will let you adjust your truck's gear ratio and tire size on the device to get you correct shifting, on top of some extra power to help your truck tow. You would not need to go to a dyno shop to adjust your settings. To get shipping to Poland, please use our

I have a 2011 F150 3.7L with a 6" lift and 33's. It now has 3.73 gears in it along with being tuned. Once these tires are done I will be going a little larger but nothing larger than 35's. currently I am getting 14.5mpg and going up an incline or passing the interstate it lags a little so I also have a pedal commander. Will theses gears help get my back to base line along with the updated tune?

This gear package can potentially help. However, you likely won't get back any fuel economy (you might even hurt your economy further). Just keep in mind that the 2011 3.7L V6 trucks could come with both an 8.8" or 9.75" rear end, so make sure to verify your truck's rear end type before ordering.

I have a 2018 F150 SuperCrew with a 3.55 gear ratio running 325/60R20 with a 7” Lift. I was thinking about regearing however I read that you stated it will be better to buy a tuner. My question is how is tuning a better compromise than regearing? Does tuning make it drive and feel like it has been re-geared? I read In some forums that without re-gearing could cause stress on the transmission down the road.
Asked by:
ILLzKzA
- 2/20/2019
It's not necessarily "better" to go with tuning first, but it is definitely a more bang-for-your-buck compromise than going with gears, especially if you have an EcoBoost truck. Tuning adjusts your shift points and forces your transmission to hold gears longer, which goes a long way for making these trucks feel less doggy when you throw on bigger tires. Re-gearing is more effective at bringing back that near-stock (or even better than stock) acceleration and powerband, but you're paying way more for the privilege, and a lot of folks don't want to go that route. Still, regearing is still a good choice if you want to get your truck going more aggressively. You're not putting any more stress on the transmission without regearing. Your engine is outputting the same level of power through the trans, it's just that your final drive ratio change from the tires is mechnically keeping your engine in a lower RPM and out of an ideal powerband (especially on the 5.0L trucks), which regearing fixes.

This package would work well with 37" tires, and should get you back to near-stock acceleration. That being said, you could feasibly go more aggressive with 4.56s depending on how you want your truck to drive vs. how much fuel economy you hope to maintain.

The principal advantage is that you'll get some acceleration and general sprightliness back by moving your truck's final drive ratio to take better advantage of its powerband. The downsides are that you'll likely lose fuel economy, you'll need a tuner or programmer to reset your speedometer, and labor is pretty expensive if you're not doing it yourself.

On the 10-speed trucks, you can go with a little less aggressive than with the 6-speed trucks, since the 10-speeds handle larger tires better. You're best bet would probably be the 3.73s if your concern is keeping some amount of fuel economy.

4.11s are a good upgrade over 3.31s for 35" tires on the 5.0L, and will get you back some of the spriteliness that your truck may have lost from the tires. You'd still probably take a hit on fuel economy, but it won't be as dramatic as it would be with 4.56s.

Asked by:

Whether or not 4.11s are "too much" really depends on the exact diameter of your tires, how much acceleration and off-the-line performance you want, how much and how often you tow/off-road, and how much of an MPG hit you're willing to take to get that extra performance. You will likely see a dip in fuel economy with this package. Also keep in mind that this particular kit is for F150s with a 9.75" rear end and most 2016 F150 5.0Ls used the new Super 8.8" rear differential. Please verify what rear end your F150 has before ordering.

A tune would help you win back some economy, but you likely won't reach your factory fuel economy again, no matter what modifications you put on your truck. Especially if you're going with a heavy M/T or hybrid tire with a decent amount of weight and rolling resistance. We generally recommend 5-Star's custom tunes for best results.

While you would likely pick up a bit of economy (assuming you're driving to actually get good fuel economy), I'm not sure the swap would be worth it, especially if you're towing/hauling on a regular basis. You may pick up a full mpg worth of economy, but you'd be sacrificing pep and capability. Your better bet would be to look into tires, possibly going with a hybrid or A/T if you're using an M/T and/or going with something narrower than a 12.50" wide tire to get less contact and less rolling weight. You may have a few other options, but your best bet would be to call us directly at 623-434-5277 so we can get a better idea of your truck's current setup.

It's really going to depend on what gears are currently in your truck, but generally, re-gearing is not going to provide a significant gain in fuel economy, and may actually hurt economy further. Jason, 2014 5.0 FX4 here, with L9 (3.55). I have 275/65/20 tires on now, which are a tad over 34". I tow occasionally, but we are considering a camper soon, and I was debating on which route to take. Factory specs say my max loaded trailer weight is 7,700 lbs. with my stock set-up. With my 34" tires, would new 4.11 gearing, or a tune be more beneficial for longevity, mpg, comfort, and ease of pulling (smoother ratios)? I don't have many issues with towing currently, but haven't had the weight of a camper being the truck just yet. Thanks in advance!
Asked by:
Andrew W.
- 8/4/2017
If the camper's not overly heavy, then a tune would probably be sufficient. While the 5.0L doesn't have the raw grunt of the EcoBoost trucks, it can still tow effectively, especially once tuning takes care of its propensity to shift around and not hold gears. That being said, if the camper's on the heavier side of the spectrum, then gears would be more helpful, and ideally, you'd do both a tuner and gears to get the best results. Still, you may want to try a tune first and take the camper on a short, safe trip just to see how it does.

Adding more aggressive gears will not allow you to tow beyond your truck's GVWR, since the factors that govern your F150's GVWR go beyond just gearing (suspension, brakes, engine options, option packages, etc.). That being said, a set of 4.11 gears will help your truck tow more effectively with larger tires and make towing closer to your F150's GVWR much easier.

2012 F150 5.0 with 3.55s and the eld. I've got a two fold question. First off is this kit compatible with my truck. I'm certain the rear is a 9.75 and am assuming the eld will slide back in place like it's supposed to. Second, how difficult is it to recalibrate shift points and speedo settings with your average tuner? I'm using SCT hand held.

On a 2012 F150, you shouldn't have to adjust your truck's shift points manually. All you should have to do is enter your new gear ratio under the tune options and reload the tune. Your speedometer and transmission settings should be adjusted for you. That being said, you may have to do some fine adjustments, especially with one of SCT's pre-loaded "canned" tunes.

Depending on your truck's current gearing, you may want to try doing a custom tune first. That being said, 4.11s will definitely help get your truck back into its powerband with 35" tires. You could jump up to 37" tires, though you'd have the same issue of changing your final drive ratio and getting more sluggish, but the gear package would help you more versus the stock gears.

If you're going to stay with 35" tires, then I'd just stick with 4.11s. Not to mention, getting a custom tune could probably help you out more on the towing front than gearing.

I'm reading all your Q&As about gear swaps and have one question: Have you done or had feedback from people who have done gear swaps on the ecoboost trucks or are you merely guessing what the results of doing one? You seem to be discouraging people citing a tune would be better but everyone else in the off-road world say the gear swap (to get the engine back in its factory power band) is a great move. It helped my Jeep rolling on 35s. Why would an ecoboost be any different?
Asked by:
JAVI
- 5/16/2017
The biggest reason to do a gear swap is to readjust a given vehicle's final drive ratio when you add bigger tires so that the engine can operate inside its powerband. Basically, the end goal is to try to get the motor's rev range back to where it ought to be to make peak power. However, the EcoBoost trucks don't really have that problem. The EcoBoost F150s make a ton of torque throughout most of their rev range, especially when tuned, so jumping up to larger tires on those trucks is more about adding some extra power to help turn them and getting the shift points back in order. The 5.0L, 6.2L and 3.7L trucks definitely benefit more from gears, since they have pretty standard power curves that gets thrown out of whack when you mess with their final drive ratios. Now, this all being said, this kit can still benefit an EcoBoost truck in a big way, especially if you're going with a full off-road build, but for most folks, a tune is generally a more cost-effective option.

This is one of the last modifications I want but im not sure if i want 4.11 or 4.56. im currently geared with 3.55. what would my rpms be at 70 if i pick 4.11, what about 4.56?
Asked by:
Moustafa
- 4/3/2017
Your RPM range is going to depend on your tire size, since that effects your final drive ratio. If you're looking for maximum performance for an aggressive off-road, sled pull. or drag strip application and you're not overly concerned with drivability or fuel economy, then there wouldn't really be anything wrong with 4.56s That being said, the EcoBoost engines love making low-end torque, and going with aggressive gearing can actually skew them a bit outside their optimal power band, which generally makes 4.11s a better option if you're not going too huge with your tires. Now, this all being said, if you have a 2.7L F150, you need to make sure that you actually have a 9.75" rear end. Many 2.7Ls came with the new Ford Super 8.8" rear differential, and this kit will not fit F150s with an 8.8" rear end. Make sure to double-check before you order.

I have a 2013 3.5 ecoboost. I put a 6" lift and 35's that measure about 34" and a diablo tune. My gas mileage dropped about 4.5 mpg, I get better gas mileage in town then 55-60 mph on country road. Asked by:

- 4/1/2017
More aggressive gearing will not help improve your fuel economy. In fact, they'll probably hurt it further, since they'll skew your RPMs back into a higher range so that your truck is a more optimal powerband. When these trucks get lifted, they suffer from more wind resistance, rolling weight from the larger tires, and the more aggressive tread patterns folks tend to go with. If you want to squeeze out some more fuel economy, you may want to try going with a custom tune or different tires.

4.11s wouldn't be a huge jump, though they would likely help you out. It really depends on how much trouble you're having with your towing, and how much more you want to get out of your truck.

Technically, you'd probably be back close to your stock final drive ratio and get back that stock acceleration. That being said, for 35ish" tires, you can generally save some cash by going with a custom tune instead. While jumping up gears can be a good upgrade, it's also a pricey one. This kit is over $1200 before installation, which will need to be done on both the front and rear axles. In general, a custom tune can adjust your truck's shifting and increase its power enough that gears are usually unnecessary for a truck with 3.55s running 35" tires. Your best bet would be to give us a call directly at 1-877-578-2433 so we can go over your options.

How do I know if my 2012 F150 FX4 Supercrew, 5.0L, has the 9.75 or the 8.8 rear diff? (FYI the stock gearing is 3.55, and it had the electronic locking rear diff.)

Well, just about all 2011-2016 F150s with 4WD came with 9.75" rear ends, but if you want to be sure, you could just make sure there's 12 bolts holding the cover on, and that the diff cover is about 10.5" in measuring from inside the bolts, top-to-bottom. If you need further assistance, give us a call directly at 1-877-578-2433.

Looking to install these on a 2011 3.7L 4x4 Supercab, I Have a set of FX4 Wheels on 33's. WOuld this be the best compromise for performance? I looked at your guide and It looks like it is, However, I was not sure if the 3.7 Might benefit from a little bit more gear than 4.11

Honestly, your best bet would be to
get a tuner for the truck
and adjust your tire size, especially a device with custom tuning. A 33" tire is not that big of a jump over stock, even for a 3.7L, and in general, jumping up gears can be a bit overkill for 33" tires. Gears will help, don't get me wrong, but they're an expensive option if tuning hasn't been looked into.

Your fuel economy would take a pretty big dip, though how much exactly is going to depend on the tire size you're going to use, your other modifications, and your tuning. Your best bet would be to call us directly at 1-877-578-2433 so we can get more specific with what you have going on.
