We just wouldn't be Stage 3 Motorsports if we kept the factory tires or suspension on any of our trucks, but we also didn't want to get too aggressive with our 2.7L F150 build since our goal is to keep this truck practical. To maintain this truck's excellent street manners while improving it's off-road performance and handling, we turned to BFG and Icon to get some new KO2 tires and a Stage 1 Suspension System! You can purchase these exact mods in the product section at the bottom of this page.
We hit our 2015 F150 2.7L's suspension with some magic from our friends over at ICON Vehicle Dynamics. While our 2.7L F150 is going to stay pretty tame in comparison to some of our other trucks, it still needs the ability to go just about anywhere our other vehicles go. So we installed ICON's 2015-2017 F150 4WD Stage 1 Suspension System. The ICON Stage 1 Kit comes with a pair of ICON 2.5 Front Coilovers that feature adjustable ride height up to 2.5" of extra lift over stock, which gives our truck a huge bump in off-road performance on top of a leveled ride height for excellent results. The Stage 1 System also includes with a pair of ICON 2.0 Aluminum Series Rear Shocks which have more travel, much less fade, and a heck of a lot better on and off-road performance than the factory shocks. This system is a great way to improve suspension performance on trucks that see a decent amount of off-road driving, but don't need the sort of travel that the Stage 2 System's provide. 15-17 F150 4WD ICON Stage 1 Suspension System
Even though this F150 won't be hitting the wildest and most technical trails we still want it to be durable and to articulate properly so we tossed on a set of Camburg uniball upper control arms. Camburg's UCAs feature a strong, tubular steel design and a uniball joint instead of a ball joint so that our F150's front suspension gets maximum travel and articulation. However, we no longer have this specific upper control arm set in stock, but our extensive inventory of F150 Upper Control Arms is sure to have something perfect for your build.
One of our favorite all-terrain tires is the BFG KO2 All-Terrain. The KO2s feature surprisingly awesome off-road performance for an all-terrain tire while being nearly silent on-pavement, even at freeway speeds. They were the perfect choice for our 2015 F150 2.7L EcoBoost build so we grabbed a set of them in size 285/55R20. They also gave our truck a more rugged look that you'd expect from a 4 wheel drive pickup. As much as we loved these versatile tires, we no longer carry them. Check out our inventory of 15-17 F150 Wheels & Tires for similar options.
Getting rid of the boring 18" silver factory wheels on our F150 was a must, but instead of grabbing some extravagant aftermarket wheel to replace it, we opted for a set of 20" grey F150 factory wheels that were pulled off a different truck. These wheels have a clean 6 spoke design and satin grey finish that give the truck a sportier look, but still maintain an overall factory style that isn't obnoxious. Unfortunately we don't sell these wheels on our website, but you can check out our entire selection of aftermarket F150 wheels on our 15-17 F150 Wheels & Tires page.
While we originally had a set of 285/55R20 KO2s with the factory 20" wheel, we chose to swap that out in favor of an 18" Fuel Vector wheel with a 275/70R18 KO2 tire to give us more sidewall. The change in tire size allows us to air down for better traction and comfort off road as well as create a more rugged look for our truck. We've been running the Ford 20" wheels for quite sometime on this build but we decided right at the end to change it up and get something more off-road worthy for this F150. The wheel we chose is an 18x9" Fuel Vector in the Anthracite finish. This wheel sits slightly farther out than the factory wheel which provides a wider stance which we think looks better on this build. Unfortunately we also no longer sell these specific wheels on our website, but we do have an extensive range of 15-17 F150 Wheels & Tires page that will suit your needs.
