Our 2015 F150 build wouldn't be a true Stage 3 truck without a healthy dose of lighting upgrades, so we got right to work adding and replacing lights all over. LED Headlights, 40" Rigid Radius LED Light Bars and KC Flex HiLites are just a few of the upgrades we've thrown on this truck. Read below to get all the details on each lighting upgrade we installed! You can purchase these exact lighting mods in the product section at the bottom of this page.
Ford's factory headlights aren't terrible, but they also aren't extremely exciting, so we decided to change up the headlights on our F150 project truck to get more light and a more aggressive look. We picked up a set of LED OEM Headlights from Raptor Retrofit that really helped add some character to the front of our truck. Unfortunately, these lights are no longer available, but we do have plenty of other great F150 lighting options to choose from on our site. You can view our entire selection of F150 headlights on our 15-17 F150 Headlights page.
The 2015 F150's factory fog lights are a bit of a letdown. Not only are the fog lights a boring shade of yellow (which looks even more yellow on trucks like ours with LED headlights), the fog light lenses look like something straight out of a mid-'80s Trans Am. Thankfully our friends over at Diode Dynamics have a solution with their F150 LED Conversion Fog Light Kit. This pair of fog lights has a brilliant, white shine that better matches the optional 2015 LED headlights or aftermarket HID kits, and they're available in several different output levels to meet your truck's lighting needs or budget. Similar to the Raptor Retrofit headlights, Diode no longer offers these fog light replacements; however, we do have a massive inventory of 2015-2017 F150 Fog Lights, and we're confident you'll find something that fits your custom build.
The stock license plate lights on the 2015-2016 F150s are really not all that impressive. They're yellowish, and their output is pretty dismal. Recon is here to save the day with their LED License Plate Illumination Kit. Recon's kit completely replaces the stock bulbs and housings with a completely new design that features OE-style black trim, but is powered by very bright, white LEDs. 2015-2017 F150 Recon LED License Plate Illumination Kit
Mounting lights at the bottom corners of windshields is a trend that's been popularized by Jeeps, but it can actually be a very functional lighting location on an F150 if done properly. For our lighting setup, we chose to throw on the ZRoadZ Hood Mount & KC Flex Series Package. The ZRoadZ mounts consist of brackets that easily slide under the nuts for your truck's hood hinges, and don't require hood removal or realignment. With those in place, we bolted on our KC Flex LED's which provide an impressive amount of light in a small housing. This makes them ideal for mounting in front of the windshield where larger lights could impair your view. We also threw on some red bezels to match the truck which really completed the look of the kit. 2015-2017 F150 ZRoadZ Hood Mount & KC Flex Series Package
If there is a bumper to put lights on, we here at Stage 3 will most certainly put lights on it. Once our F150 got its Rogue Racing bumpers installed we immediately reached for a set of two Rigid 40" Radius LED Light Bars to mount up front. The light output from the bars is immense, and their curved shape provides a nice wide beam pattern to fill out around the entire front of the truck. Just like the rest of Rigid's arsenal of powerful off-road LED lights, the RDS-series light bar is built to handle the harshest applications and environments. The LED boards of the RDS Series are resistant to impacts, vibration, and moisture to help keep some of the LEDs running even if the light bar takes serious damage.
