While engine upgrades, lifts, wheels and tires are all great ways of enhancing the utility of your Super Duty, we know that sometimes it's the simple accessories that can make all the difference. For this reason we grabbed a few key accessories for our 2017 F250 to get some extra functionality and better utility. You can purchase these exact mods in the product section at the bottom of this page.
Camping is a well-loved pastime by many of us here at Stage 3 so naturally we enjoy building trucks that improve our camping experience and take us to new places. For this F-250 build we took a queue from the overlanding world and set our truck up with a Freespirit Recreation M60 Adventure Series Rooftop Tent which we mounted to our Thule 500XT Rack System. The M60 is large enough to fit 3-5 adults, is made out of extremely durable materials and can be set up in a matter of minutes making it ideal for almost any camping situation. The elevated position of the tent also keeps us off the ground away from water, mud or any small creatures that we'd prefer stay outdoors. Unfortunately, we no longer carry this specific rooftop tent, but don't worry! We have a wide selection of Truck Tents for your adventures.
Our Super Duty is an inherently bulky and rugged looking truck, but you know what it needed more of? You guessed it, more bulky and rugged styling. To achieve this we reached for a set of Bushwacker Pocket-Style Fender Flares that were pre-painted in Magnetic Grey to match our truck's body color. The flares are constructed from an ultra-durable thermoplastic and coated in a UV, crack and fade resistant paint so that they'll handle all the abuse we put our F250 through. As perfect as these fender flares are for this build, we sadly no longer sell these specific ones from Bushwacker. However, we still have a selection of similar Fender Flares that give your build that distinct, tough look.
We added a set of WeatherTech Rain Guards that allow us to keep our Super Duty's windows cracked open to let in fresh air from outside, all while keeping wind noise minimal and keeping rain out of the truck. The deflectors install into the window channels without any permanent modifications, making them an easy way to add some comfort to your truck. WeatherTech makes each side window deflector out of thick, high-quality acrylic with a dark tinted finish which keeps them rigid and strong. Just like the Bushwacker fender flares, we are sad to discontinue these rain guards, but our inventory of comparable Exterior Upgrades is sure to impress.
To help protect the beautiful Magnetic Grey paint on our F250, we installed an AVS Aeroskin Hood Protector. This piece guards against those expensive-to-fix nicks and dings that come from rocks and debris that fly up from the road. The AVS has a very sleek design that sits flush with the truck's hood so it's discrete and less likely to break. The only small draw back is that these hood protectors cover up the "SUPER DUTY" lettering on the front of our F250. This specific hood protector has also been discontinued on our website, but check out our offerings of similar Exterior Upgrades
Standard side steps and nerf bars work great for getting in and out of a large truck like our 2017 F250, but the one big issue is that they also compromise ground clearance and can hang up on rocks off road. Thankfully AMP Research has a solution with their PowerStep Plug-N-Play Running Boards. These steps feature an electric motor assembly and a hinged design that allows them to fold up and tuck against our Super Duty's frame while driving and then instantly drop down when we park or unlock our truck. We're always tossing camera equipment and recovery gear in our project truck beds, but getting in and out of our F250's bed has become increasingly difficult as we've lifted it. Making our lives slightly easier is the convenient and simple AMP BedStep Bumper Step. This non-slip, retractable bumper step quickly flips down with the nudge of a foot providing a faster, easier, and safer way to load or unload our gear. F250-F350 AMP Research BedStep
While "Trail Armor" may not be the most accurate way to describe these covers, Bushwacker's kit protects the rocker panel area inside the door of your F250 where you probably see the most traffic from passengers getting in and out, knocking their shoes against the truck. The kit is simple to install and it's molded to fit the contours of the Super Duty's cab so there is no interference with the doors. F250 & F350 Bushwacker Trail Armor
It's no secret that Super Duty's are big trucks and while that has its advantages, it makes them kind of bear to get in and out of. To remedy the issue we installed a set of Westin Pro Traxx 4 Nerf Bars. These nerf bars provide a large step area under the body of the truck, making it a bit easier to get into and out of our F250 especially for those of us with shorter legs. The chrome finish on these steps makes them a solid choice for Super Duty's with a lot of chrome accents since the bars have a factory look and fitment. 2017 F250 & F350 Westin Pro Traxx 4 Nerf Bars
Super Duty's are work trucks at their core and towing is what they do. The hitch we grabbed for our F250 is the Weigh Safe 6-Inch Drop Hitch with built-in scale. Weigh Safe builds their hitches with a corrosion-resistant stainless steel ball and 6061 T6 machined billet aluminum shank and mounting platform. While Weigh Safe's 6" Drop Hitch is constructed for optimal strength and dependability, the real star of the show is the built-in scale that allows you to measure your tongue weight to determine if you can safely tow. It's easy to see why this is our favorite hitch to tow with. Weigh Safe 6-Inch Drop Hitch w/ Built-In Scale
