We got to work improving our GT500's interior with some useful and stylish upgrades to make the car more pleasant to drive. The addition of a CDC light bar and Shelby shift knob helped give the car a more custom look while the new Kicker speakers, Redline hood and trunk struts and CDC detail corral provided some more utility. You can purchase these exact mods in the product section at the bottom of this page.
The convertible S197 Mustangs and GT500s make for some of the sexiest convertible muscle cars on the road. However, our friends over at Classic Design Concepts were able to make them even better with their 2005-2014 Mustang & GT500 Convertible Light Bar. The CDC Light Bar has all the looks of a classic convertible roll bar and comes standard with built-in LEDs that give it a great look and some extra functionality for your convertible Mustang of choice. While it doesn't offer any additional rollover protection, CDC's light bar did add a clean and aggressive new look to our GT500 that we instantly fell in love with. While the hood and trunk may not technically be the interior of our car, a new set of Redline hood and trunk struts was very convenient none the less. The factory prop rod on the GT500's and Mustang's gets the job done, but it also gets in the way when you're working under the hood. Thankfully Redline's Quicklift struts solve this problem and are simple to install without having to drill or cut on your car. Unfortunately, the hood struts we have installed have since been discontinued and we do not yet have a proper alternative option. We gave the interior of our GT500 a slightly more custom look with a new Shelby shift knob in a grey and black color scheme to match the rest of the car. These Shelby shift knobs come in multiple color options to match whatever style you have going on your car and they all feature the beloved Tiffany Snake GT500 logo on both sides. As great as this shift knob looks, we are sad to have since discontinued it on our website. Check out our other options for Interior Upgrades.
The CDC Detail Corral is perhaps one of the most useful upgrades you've never heard of. This nifty little contraption is a trunk lid-mounted storage system that keeps all of your cleaning and detailing equipment, rags and whatever else tucked away so it wont roll around your trunk. We've made sure to have ours always loaded with a bottle of detail spray and a microfiber towel should we need them before a show or photo shoot. The sound system in our GT500 project car was in need of a boost so we popped the door panels off, ditched the factory speakers and installed a new set of Kicker KSC68 6x8's to get more volume and a cleaner sound without making major modifications or even changing the head unit!
