Our project cars all end up lower and our project trucks all end up higher. Our 2012 F150 Project Truck is no different. This over-the-top build needed something crazy, so we grabbed ourselves a Zone 6-Inch Suspension Lift Kit to get our truck towering high in the air. Then we decided that wasn't enough so we stepped up to our Stage 3 Motorsports 8" Lift Kit to really set this truck apart from the rest. Along with the lift, we threw on 20x9 Fuel Trophy Wheels and 37" Mickey Thompson ATZ-P3 tires to fill out the wheel wells and turn heads. You can purchase these exact mods in the product section at the bottom of this page.
Stock ride height was never going to cut it for this truck. If we were going to turn this F150 into a trail monster, it needed to be lifted for better ground clearance and to accommodate a larger wheel and tire combo. We immediately reached for the Zone 6" Kit to make it happen. Overall, the Zone lift was extremely impressive, especially considering its low price point. All of the pieces felt sturdy and fit cleanly onto our truck making for a smooth installation. While a little cutting and drilling was required to get the kit mounted, the end result was certainly worth the work. 2009-2013 F-150 4WD Zone Offroad 6" Lift Kit
You'd think a truck with a Zone 6" Lift Kit would be enough for us, that we would be just so happy with the aggressive stance and awesome new ride. We'll, you'd be wrong. We just can't stop messing around with what doesn't need fixing, so we decided to go even taller with our 2012 F150 by swapping in our 11-13 F150 Stage 3 Motorsports 8" Lift Kit. While this 8" kit shares many of its core components with the Zone 6" system, the increase in height comes from the addition of Pro-Comp Strut Spacers, Pro-Comp Add-A-Leaf set, and a pair of HaloLifts BOSS adjustable coilovers. Working together, these pieces create a rugged and capable suspension setup that finally gave us the incredible stance we wanted for our 2012 F150 project truck. Unfortunately, the full kit is no longer listed on our website, but our impressive inventory of 7"+ Lift Kits for F150 is sure to lift your truck as high as you want it.
With our F150 properly lifted, we needed to fill out the wheel wells and take advantage of the added space. We grabbed a set of 37X12.50R20LT Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ P3 tires to get the job done. The Baja ATZ P3 Tire is a hybrid mixture of tread that not only gives a smooth ride for daily driving, but also has deep ridges and aggressive sidewall ply that would help us maneuver through some of the most rugged terrain we could find. As awesome as these tires are, we have discontinued them on our website, but don't worry! Our selection of Off-Road Tires ensures there's a perfect match for you.
Our owner here at Stage 3 seems to have an unhealthy obsession with putting Fuel Maverick wheels on our project trucks. While they are a nice wheel, a little variety never hurt and thankfully we were able to mix it up with this 2012 F150. Sitting inside the meaty 37" tires are some 20x9" Fuel Trophy D551 Wheels in matte black. We opted for a 01mm offset to keep the tires from jutting out too far past the fenders, which would help maintain a more clean look with the truck. Unfortunately, these wheels have also been discontinued. Check out our offerings of similar 20x9" Wheels.
