We dropped some simple engine and exhaust mods in our 2015 F150 3.5L EcoBoost XLT Build to give it some extra power, a better sound and to help keep the truck reliable. The parts we chose for the job were a Banks Ram Air intake, an MBRP Exhaust and a UPR Dual-Valve Catch Can. All of these parts together made our F150 more fun to drive without breaking the bank. You can purchase these exact mods in the product section at the bottom of this page.
The EcoBoost F150s aren't exactly known for producing much of a sound, much less a deep and aggressive rumble. However, we needed a kit that looked aggressive and fit right into our F150's black-on-white styling theme. One of the few kits that met all our criteria was the MBRP Black Series Pre-Tire Exit Cat-Back Exhaust System. MBRP's kit has an SVT Lightning-style exit configuration and features an all-black ceramic coating over aluminized steel that gives it a great look and excellent corrosion resistance. The MBRP Pre-Tire Kit also sounds nice and clean, adding depth and sound volume to our truck without being overbearing. MBRP Black Series Pre-Tire Exit Cat-Back Exhaust System
One of the quickest and easiest ways to add some power and throttle response to an F150 is by installing a cold air intake, so we grabbed Banks Ram-Air Cold Air Intake Kit to get our truck started. Banks' intake is extremely high-quality and was a breeze to install. The kit features a full air box assembly with new ducting, inlet tubing, and air filter. Even the couplers and clamps included in the package are excellent quality, and the Banks system comes in at a great price point that makes it hard to say no. 2015-2017 F150 EcoBoost Banks Ram-Air Cold Air Intake Kit
To help improve the longevity of our F150 we threw on a UPR Dual-Valve Oil Catch Can. This is the latest version of UPR's can for the 2015-2017 F150s, and it was carefully designed to capture blow-by from both the driver's and passenger's side PCVs without throwing a check engine light or causing other issues. Since we want this truck to last a while and handle the abuse we put it through, a catch can kit was a must for us. UPR Dual-Valve Oil Catch Can
