With the 2017 re-design on the Super Duty's Ford brought a much needed styling update for the lighting, but this still wasn't going to be enough to give us the proper light output we wanted for late night, off road driving. We tried out two different fog light replacement kits on our F250 to give our truck a more aggressive lighting setup that would be clean and subtle. After we got our new Fab Fours bumpers installed we hit our truck with a healthy dose of Rigid LED lighting.
The first fog light kit we opted for was Morimoto's XB Projector LED fog light kit which is a well priced and street legal LED option that installs directly in place of the Super Duty's factory fogs. This system comes with drop-in replacement fog lights that are built around powerful LEDs with a 5500K color temperature to match our Super Duty's LED headlights and a projector lens that produces a powerful beam of light that's much more effective than the stock setup. Unfortunately, we no longer carry these exact replacement fog lights, but we do offer a variety of similar Projector LED Fog Lights to improve your visibility in any weather condition.
The next kit we wired into our Super Duty was Baja Designs' Squadron Sport LED Fog Light Kit which is a brighter, off-road oriented system. This kit comes with a drop-in bracket that replaces your Super Duty's fog light buckets and replaces the lights with Baja's powerful, yet compact, Squadron off-road LED lights. While this means that our fog lights are no longer street legal, the light output on the trail made it all worth it. Baja's kit even comes with adapter wiring that allows you tie the Squadron lights directly into your Super Duty's fog light wiring, which helps keep your interior free from unnecessary switches. We love these Raptor Style LED Grille Light Kits and we've installed them on a couple of our project trucks. While they don't have a specific function, they look awesome and are cheap and easy to install which was plenty enough reason to put a set on this 2017 F250 build. This kit is designed specifically for Super Duty grilles and it has very clean and factory looking fitment. F250-F350 Custom Auto Works Raptor Style Grille Light Kit
With our Fab Fours Vengeance bumpers installed we had plenty of space to fully upgrade the lighting on our F250. in the front corners we installed a set of Rigid's D-Series DOT/SAE Fog Lights and a set of their D2 Driving Lights. The fog lights allow us to have powerful, street legal light output while driving back roads at night and the D2's give us an advantage off-road with better distance and a less diffused light. Filling out the center of our bumper is a new Rigid 20" E-Series Pro LED Light Bar with a combo beam pattern. This light bar does the heavy lifting for us when it comes to off-road lighting on our Super Duty. With 9200 raw lumens spread out in a spot/flood beam and a range of 1024 meters, there aren't many places we struggle to see at night with this LED bar. Rigid also builds these lights to be almost indestructible with a cast-aluminum housing, thick polycarbonate lens and vibration resistant circuitry. Lighting on the back of a truck can be just as important as forward lighting sometimes, so we mounted a set of RIgid 6" SR-Series Pro LED Light Bars in our Fab Fours rear bumper. These 6" LED's give us proper lighting when we're backing into a technical section on a trail or when we just need to back into a camping spot at night. We used Starkey Products Backup Light Wiring and Switch to keep the wiring simple and hassle free for the install. Rigid 6" SR-Series Pro LED Light Bar (Combo)
