After we got our lighting situation squared away, suspension, wheels, and tires weren't too far behind. Like the rest of our project truck fleet, our 2013 F150 5.0L had to be plenty capable and able to go just about anywhere that we needed, preferably at a high rate of speed. We're the kind of folks that need high-quality suspension hardware and tires that can provide enough traction while we're off the beaten path.
The kind of shenanigans we tend to get into when we're up to our usual off-road mischief means that the factory front strut assemblies and rear shocks weren't really going to cut it. We also needed extra room to mount up proper-size wheels and tires. With all that in mind, we grabbed ourselves an F150 Fox Stage 1 Suspension Package. The Stage 1 Packages comes with Fox 2.0 Front Coilovers and Fox 2.0 Rear Shocks which offer up a huge improvement in suspension performance with far less fade than the factory struts and rear shocks. The Fox 2.0 Front Coilovers also add up to 2" of front leveling, which will allow us to squeeze on larger tires than the factory struts allow. F150 4WD FOX Stage 1 Suspension Package
Naturally, we weren't huge fans of the factory wheels on our STX. Bland looks and a large offset meant we just had to do better. Better came in the form for a full set of 18x9" Matte Black Method NV wheels with a -18mm offset. The wheels' wicked muti-spoke design with their zinc-plated street locks make our 2013 F150 5.0L STX look rugged and ready to take off into the wilderness at a moment's notice. The more aggressive negative offset pushes the wheels out from the fender more than stock for a great look and a wider track width. 18x9" Matte Black Method NV Wheels
While aggressive wheels are all well and good, they don't much without something suitable to wrap them, so we grabbed a full set of BF Goodrich 305/65R18 KO2 All-Terrain Tires to get the job done. The KO2s feature one of the most aggressive tread patterns you're ever going to find on an All-Terrain tire, and improve on the older generation of KO2 in the treadwear and noise department, making them an excellent choice for a truck that does a little bit of everything. The fairly large 33.6"x12" size of these tires fill out our truck's wheel wells nicely, and we only had to do a hint of valance trimming when using them with our Method NVs. As great as these tires perform, we no longer have them in stock. Find the perfect set of tires for your build among our inventory of Off-Road Tires.
