Very nice product install is easy. It is definitely louder than stock but not crazy loud. If you doing every day driving not much different as far as sound. Now if you lean on the throttle a bit then let off yes it's going to turn some heads. The thing I really noticed was how much faster my turbos spool. The factory BOV is literally just a huge piece of plastic and boost leaks are common with tuned trucks. This is a well made product very happy.

First off if you're looking for that loud pssshhhhttt sound when you let off the gas buy the mechanical BOV by Turbosmart. This is one is a great replacement for the factory BOV and works very well. But is very quite when it bleeds off pressure.

Got this BOV for my tuned 2.7 F150 as I recently upgraded to a custom 93 octane tune from Brew CityBoost. My boost is much higher and the oem valve on these engines can tear over time and fail. This Turbosmart Vee is amazing! Plug and play, fits perfectly onto the intercooler, straight forward easy install. Sounds amazing, and even offered better performance with my tuned F150 2.7. Boost is stronger and more responsive. Definitely worth getting versus just doing the BOV mod that most do. It’s controlled by the trucks computer also so it’s working like suppose to with no engine cel or failures. Must get for a quality piece of equipment that’s built extremely well.! I got this since BCB recommended it with my custom tune. You don’t need a tune to use this, as the oem valve from ford is known to fail. Must have! Multiple online install videos on how to do the install step by step. Took me about 30 min with my truck on truck ramps to be able and get under the front of the truck to lower the intercooler as it can’t be installed without removing it.

Product looks very well manufactured, and a direct plug and play. You get a very loud woooosh sound now when the blow off valve opens. The only thing I didn’t like was the instructions were very unclear, you basically had to just guess- although it looked pretty straight forward, some direct guidance would have been helpful.

Got this to avoid failure of the stock BOV (pushing well over 20 PSI) The only reason for the three star is that the return spring in the valve was to soft so the valve would stay stuck open. i replaced the spring with a slightly stiffer one (found in my rc car stash) that fixed the problem. now works the way it supposed to.

The valve is soliod and well made. Installation wasn't too bad but there were two things you need to know NOT IN THE INSTRUCTIONS. First the wiring harness needs to point down. It will not fit with it pointing up. Second you have to remove and reuse the wire harness from the old valve. There is about a 6 inch section between the top clips and the junction at the old valve that needs to be rescued. The fittings will not go together with out it. Noise is not too loud. Does not whistle which was good for me. Also note if you are upgrading just for the noise it is jot loud enough to hear in the cab with the windows up. Again fine with me. I wanted to replace a cracked sticker not just add noise. 4 stars. I only give 5 stars for something that was unexpectedly better than anticipated. This is everything it should be but no extra wow.

If you are looking for a factory replacement with a more pronounced swish sound then this is the product for you. I previously had the VTA mod done and wanted more sound. This product gets 4 starts because the plug and my factory wiring harness did not match up perfity. I had to use a small file to remove a small amount of plastic material for the plug to seat correctly, allowing the clip to lock in place. Otherwise I've been driving with this part installed for 10k and have had no issues only enjoyment.

The factory BOV was driving me nuts with the dying moose noise. I replaced it with the Turbosmart, and I couldn't be happier. I was worried that it would be too loud and obnoxious, but it's not. Inside the truck you can hear it occasionally, but not too bad.

Great quality and build. Seems a little too sensitive for a tuned truck. Seems to let off a little early and stay open too long. Probably best for a nearly stock truck. I will likely switch to the vacuum operated version shortly.

Bought this to replace the POS stock one. I’m glad that it’s not sensitive so it’s not going off all the time driving around town but when you let off full boost it packs a nice punch! Starting to get used to the BOV driving around town but with the windows up and your wife talking your ear off you can’t hear it. So overall I’m glad with my purchase! The quality of it is super nice so that’s a big plus! Recommend to anyone who is looking for a nice upgrade from stock.

First off gonna say I love this thing. It gets rid of that big bulky plastic bpv. I paired it with an Injen intercooler, bolted up perfectly and feels solid. It definitely has that beautiful pssst sound all turbo people love but not too loud (like my mazdaspeed6). My wife hates that sound but said she can’t hear it inside the cab so shes also happy which is always good! If you are on the fence, just get it. If anything get rid of that cheapy bpv from the factory.

Purchased this in February have not had a single problem with it. Shortly after installing I had a tune made which makes the truck boost even higher and if you like the sound a blow off valve makes you will not be disappointed. They only provide an aluminium plug to cap off the return line leaving the return line hanging like most others I used a rubber cap from the hardware store but never liked that. I just recently found a silicone heater cap from HPS (1 1/8") that seems to fit perfectly for those that don't want to leave the return line free hanging or plugged with a chair leg cap.

The valve body is impressive in build and quality. The wiring harness is fragile and can be sheared off. My suggestion is not to install the new bov until the intercooler is re-installed after you have removed the stock bov. Sounds crazy, but you can actually reach down from the front and screw in the new bov. Then connect the wiring. Also, make sure the new connector lines up before clicking. It can be forced on the backwards. I fried mine, and Turbosmart rushed out a new harness/solenoid under warranty. My suggestion is that they ship the bov without the solenoid already installed.

Asked by: Bruce Gasco - 8/17/2025
Customer Answer Aftermarket blow off valves hold boost pressure more consistent when compared to the factory bypass valves. So you have no boost drop off or bleed that you will sometimes encounter with the factory ones.

Asked by: john mannis - 3/17/2024
Customer Answer This Turbosmart BOV is computer controlled and has no manual adjustments. I would double check the install of the there's no install issues causing air leaks that would caused the pcm to get incorrect readings.

Customer Question Jason when you said L-bracket for Mishimoto cooler are you referring to the mounting bracket or Turbosmart (L) 90 degree adapter that's sold separately? I don't see the L adapter with this like I do in the SP package.. Is this that small to where it will fit without the 90 degree turn? I'm not worried about the mounting bracket, just want to make sure it will fit.

Asked by: DLsMods - 1/29/2022

Asked by: Mike - 8/18/2021
Customer Answer The P04DB code is a PCV system related code, and would not be caused by this BOV. The most likely culprit is either a slightly unseated dipstick, loose/removed PCV hose from the intake, or a bad VPS sensor in the PCV line. If you're still having issues, your best bet would to contact your local Ford Service Department.

Customer Question Are there any performance gains with this bov or is it only for vta feature?

Asked by: Kjdeane - 3/19/2020
Customer Answer You really don't gain much performance-wise with this BOV. The only exception is if your stock eBOV is leaking or not holding boost pressure for some reason. The stock eBOVs aren't the most reliable things in the world, especially if your truck is tuned and/or fitted with bigger turbos putting out more boost pressure. However, outside of eBOV reliability, this BOV should really only be looked at as a sound/aesthetic mod.

Asked by: Alex D - 2/25/2020
Customer Answer This BOV is compatible with the Full-Race intercooler as long as it's ordered with a standard BOV flange for the eBOV. This BOV should work with all other aftermarket intercoolers (be they high-mount or stock location) as the long as they keep the factory eBOV. The only exception is the ATP intercooler, since the way it swaps over the stock eBOV is different.

Customer Answer It is much easer to remove the inter cooler. With that being said when the intercooler is out it is a great time to drain what ever junk has collected in the bottom of the intercooler. There are 2 13mm blots that hold the intercooler bracket on so it is easy to remove. Well worth a couple extra minutes.
