The Turbosmart F150 EcoBoost wastegate actuator can even be upgraded with new internal springs that can handle even higher levels of boost, making it an excellent choice for an awesome, custom build that throws down tremendous levels of power.

Stronger Than Stock with Upgradeable Spring

Out of the box, these Turbosmart wastegate actuators come with a 5psi spring that causes the actuators to begin opening the wastegate valve of your truck's factory turbo at around 10psi of boost. The actuator's high-strength, high-quality billet aluminum design with stainless steel rod and clevis provides your truck with a much more stable and linear boost curve with less bleed off and less drop-off, especially in heavily tuned and modified F150s. The actuator will also help your truck build boost faster and is much less effected by exhaust back pressure than stock to keep your truck running hard throughout its power range. For aggressive builds, Turbosmart offers a large range of springs that can easily replace the standard 5psi spring that comes in this actuator kit.

For 2011 to 2012 F150 EcoBoosts only: this actuator will only fit 2011 to 2012 EcoBoost F150s and will not fit 2013 to 2014 trucks.

2011 F150

This would get a 5 star but as stated previously the's do not just mount in place. The mounting studs are a little wider than the factory wastegates. Therefore you need to use a carbide bit to make your holes bigger. These do not have to have a perfect alignment, so doing this will have no negative effect. Now on to the positive. These do work good and they are easy to access for replacing. Before I put these on my truck I used a IDS to monitor my pressures and rpms. After the install on top end I saw a 2.5psi increase at 5100rpms in the manifold.

5 psi spring meaning I'll only get 5psi of boost? I have a turbosmart wastgate on my snowmobile and that's how it works with the interchangeable springs. But I thought the ecoboost ran around 14psi? Do I need to buy a heavier spring before i even install it or am I misunderstanding something?

The wastegates on the EcoBoost trucks work differently than a typical turbo application on a sled. The 5psi springs cause the actuators to being opening at 10psi, still giving you a peak +14psi of boost. With these actuators and their standard springs, most folks see another 1-2psi of boost pressure over stock, but a lot depends on tuning, fuel octane, altitude, atmospheric conditions, etc.

I have a 2012 F-150 Twin Turbo that has had 2 Ford Garages tell me that the actuators on both turbos have frozen and that the turbos have to be replaced. When I see you selling these the question I asked them, cant we just replace the actuators? came back as no! So can I replace the frozen ones with these and bypass a $3500 repair? No engine codes thrown as well.

That really depends on if your frozen actuators weren't letting the wastegate open at all and caused other issues with your turbos (i.e. blow seals, stress fractures on the turbines or CHRA, broken wastegate itself, etc.). If the actuators are your only and sole issue, then these replacement actuators may be the solution, but without seeing your turbos ourselves, it's hard to determine that.

I am having problems with my 2012 F150, I hear my turbos releasing really often on slight incline Hills. It results in a “underboost” trouble code. I know you can’t diagnose from a distance but do you think replacing my stock actuators with these might help?

I doubt it. The most likely problem is either a more general boost leak or an issue with your truck's BPVs. Your best bet would be to get the truck checked out before throwing these actuators at it.

Unfortunately, Turbosmart does not have similar actuators for the later trucks, and this particular part number only fits and works on 2011 to 2012 F150 EcoBoosts.

You would need to purchase a spring of choice from Turbosmart and then disassemble the actuator's cap to drop the spring in. You'd also likely need revised tuning in order to get everything to work together.

You can replace both components at the same time and not have an issue. However, you won't see performance gains with these parts alone. The actuators just allow for more efficient function of your wastegates over stock in aggressively tuned and modified applications. The BOVs are a quality improvement over the pretty flimsy stock BPVs and give you that classic BOV sound.
