2013-2016 Ford F150 3.5L EcoBoost Turbosmart MAP Sensor Boost Reference Adapter | TS-0720-1005

First off, service from Stage 3 was FIVE STARS! :) Secondly, I agree with Chris B's concern in his earlier review with regards to the robustness of o-ring seal on the face of the IM versus the o-ring seal on the OE MAP sensor. I have not yet experienced any leaks, but I will keep an eye on this interface. On the plus side, I did a before/after data log with the BRA installed, and the delta between the MAP and TIP pressure was nearly identical before and after install of the BRA, so I'm confident the BRA is not changing what my sensor reads as compared to the OE setup. My application (3.5L Transverse EcoBoost) was unconfirmed by Turbosmart, so I rolled the dice. I can say with 100% certainty that this is NOT a drop-in part for the TRANSVERSE 3.5L EcoBoost. Even though the F150 and transverse share identical MAP sensors, the sensor port in the IM must be slightly smaller on the transverse application. I had to file and sand down the shoulder of the BRA that fits down into the IM, since there was substantial interference preventing the o-ring from sealing. Once I carefully modified it, I was able to install it without leaks. Since this shoulder is a locating feature (not a sealing feature) it seems that Turbosmart could easily change the dimension of this shoulder to work for all EcoBoost applications and eliminate the need for manual modification. My last critical feedback is with the hardware that came with the kit. My kit came with extra screws and a huge o-ring (not sure what that's for). In addition the new sensor screw hardware that comes with the kit has a different head (allen) than the OE map screw (T20 torx). It would be really nice if they included hardware with the T20 torx head, to minimize required tools for installation/removal. Not a huge deal, but would be a nice WOW factor. Finally, I was unable to reinstall the OE engine/beauty cover on my XSport. With the BRA installed, the map sensor stood too proud to reinstall the cover. I have also passed this feedback to Turbosmart for consideration.

I'm slightly disappointed with the design of this product. It does exactly what it advertises and the overall quality is great, but I don't trust the o-ring seal between the adapter and the manifold. The MAP sensor uses a proper radial seal o-ring design, but the adapter o-ring appears to only compress against the edge of the hole in the manifold. Since the adapter is only secured on one side to a plastic boss on the manifold, I'm afraid high boost pressure may cause the adapter to lift up over time. I will keep an eye on it to make sure it maintains a seal.
