Unique Carbon-Ceramic Friction Material for Low-Noise Stopping Power

Each of the brake pads included in this Power Stop brake pad kit for the 2010 to 2014 Taurus SHO give your car a big boost in braking performance all without generating excessive noise, dust generation or rotor wear. The secret to their success is their extremely specialized carbon-ceramic friction compound. Power Stop takes their fairly standard ceramic brake compound and infuses with real carbon fiber components that gives each pad excellent bite, more power, and less fade than stock semi-metallic brakes all while keeping it easy on your rotors. The friction compound block is precisely chamfered and molded to ensure less noise than stock. The compound is built into a powder coated steel backing plate that resists corrosion while being tough enough to handle just about any application. Power Stop's pads also come standard with rubberized shims to help reduce noise even further. This complete rear brake pad kit includes all necessary installation hardware and instructions for installation and bedding in.

Power Stop Bedding Note: The break in procedure is critical to brake performance. The reason for a proper break in is to establish an even layer of friction material deposited on the rotors from the brake pads. It is very important that this initial layer of friction material is evenly distributed. Break in the pads as follows: 5 moderate to aggressive stops from 40 mph down to 10 mph in rapid succession without letting the brakes cool and do not come to a complete stop. Then do 5 moderate stops from 35 mph to 5 mph in rapid succession without letting the brakes cool. You should expect to smell some resin as the brakes get hot. After this is complete, drive around for as long as possible without excessively heating the brakes and without coming to a complete stop (Try for about 5 minutes at moderate speed). This is the cooling stage. It allows the heated resin in the brake pads to cool and cure. After the brakes have cooled to standard operating temperature, you may use the brakes normally.
